Ables -- Stanley Fletcher Ables, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died peacefully in his sleep Friday, September 6, 2002, surrounded by his family. Stanley is the beloved husband of and survived by Anna; daughters, Coral Lee Gibson and husband, Thurman of Beeville, TX, Jessica Janeen Howard and husband, Roy of Vanderwagen, NM, Stanlie Gail Andrews and husband, Mike, Joyce Ladd, Anna M. Smetana all of Albuquerque; son, Troy E. Ables and wife, Jayne of Tijeras; sister, DeLaures Peppler of Columbia City, IN; 24 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and 6 great great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife Jessie Content Foutz Ables. Mr. Ables was a member of the North Valley Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a member of the Zia Daylight Lodge #77 AF & AM and Albuquerque Scottish Rite Club. He served in different positions in both his church and lodge. He was an avid golfer and was involved in the Optimist club, United States Golf Association, Toastmasters club International, and Telephone pioneers of America. Mr. Ables worked for AT&T long lines division traveling and working in 38 states and Canada prior to 1950. He transferred to Mountain Bell as a plant engineer and finally retired as a Right-of-Way agent in 1978. He earned his pilots license in 1947. He was in the Civilian Conservation Corp. in the early 30s. Mr. Ables started his work career with the telephone company that spanned 41 years. Starting September 5, 1937 and ending with retirement March 4, 1978. He continued working on a contract basis for a further 3 years. In his spare time he started and maintained Ables Repair Service for many years. He always found time though for golfing. He started as a caddy as soon as he was able to hold a golf bag. He even got a whole in one at one point in his golfing days. Stanley Ables was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, June 11, 1914 to Wilbur Elmo Ables and Mary Leona Waterman. He moved way out West to Arizona in the 30s because he disliked the weather back east. During WWII he was a heavy equipment operator building airfields and laying essential trans-continental cable in Canada. Coming out of the great depression he worked in the CCC Camps. He had a phenomenal memory for the places he traveled, old friends, and addresses. After retirement he worked with the Shriner's ferrying children back and forth to the airport, train station, hotels or doctor's office to obtain treatment. He and his wife traveled extensively after retirement to visit relatives and fish all over the US. Services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, North Valley Ward, 1100 North Montano Rd. NW, with Bishop Scot Thurgood officiating. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Larry Hicks, Zane Howard, Jess Howard, Micheal Andrews, Charles Andrews, and Robert Andrews. Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Ables, Richard R. Andrews, Thurman Floyd Gibson Jr., John Smetana, Ernest Spicer II, Frank Ladd Jr., and James McDougald. Boggess -- O. E. Bogie Boggess who had been a resident of New Mexico since 1939 died Saturday, August 31, 2002. He is survived by two sons Glen and Dale Boggess, and their wives Roberta and Margaret; two grandsons, Clinton and Daniel and their wives Jacqueline and Maggie; three granddaughters Jennifer, Jeannette and Jacquelyn Boggess; a brother, Lewis Porter and his wife Fern; and a sister Faye Hosman and husband, Raymond. He was preceded in death by his wife Faye Darlene Wheatley Boggess whom he nursed through a five-year bout with cancer. O. E. Boggess was born in Liberty, MO where he was raised by his mother Mable and his stepfather Jay Porter. As a young man he was fascinated by barnstorming pilots that would visit his farming area. This fascination grew into a lifelong love of airplanes. During WWII he worked for Douglas Aircraft as a flight test mechanic installing instrumentation and bombsights. During his years in the aircraft industry, he first worked on the Fort Tri-motor and ended with the Douglas DC-10. This work spanned forty years including twenty-eight years with Continental Airlines for which he was the maintenance foreman in Albuquerque. During his working career, he also farmed in Bosque Farms, was an adult leader in 4-H clubs, and was a founding member of Peralta Community United Methodist Church. Following his retirement he served a term on the Bosque Farms Village Council, and a driving force in building the Bosque Farms Library. Memorial services were held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2002, French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE with Rev. Don Boren officiating. Chavez -- Mrs. Mary F. Curtis -- Dudley D. Curtis, 76, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, September 7, 2002. Dominguez -- Rose E. Dominguez, age 90, a lifelong resident of Old Town Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2002. She was a lifelong member of San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, and a member of their choir; a member of Sacred Heart League, and a member of the Madre Cristianas, also known as the Blue Army, which was a special prayer group of women who prayed to the Virgin Mary. Rose was member of the Moya family, one of the founding families of Old Town Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Santos Dominguez; parents, Justo and Eloisa Hunick; and sister, Blanche Hunick.¯ Rose is survived by her son, Roy F. Dominguez and wife, Dora; daughters, Jeannie Martinez and husband, Roland, and Jolene Wong and husband, Henry all of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Queen of Heaven Parish, 5311 Phoenix NE., San Mateo and Menaul NE., on Monday, September 9, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Jordan -- Mary E. Jordan, 89, a resident of Albuquerque for 19 years, died Thursday, September 5, 2002. Karchmer -- Rose Karchmer, 87, passed away on August 31, 2002. She was born in Denver, CO. where she went to school. She married Zeke Bronstein in 1936. They lived in Pueblo, CO, until Zeke passed away in 1941, when she moved back to Denver. In 1950, she married Julius Karchmer and moved to Albuquerque, NM. He passed away in 1966. She spent her last years in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is survived by daughter, Pennie Karchmer Cohn and husband, Cliff of Prairie Village, KS; son, Alan Karchmer of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Stacee Cohn of Kansas City, MO, Jonathan Cohn and wife, Carrie of Overland Park, KS. Kirchner -- Kent Kirchner 56, passed away on September 3, 2002. He was preceded in death by his son, John.¯ He is survived by his wife, Maggie of Santa Fe; daughter, Erica of Denver, CO; his granddaughter, Carol and her mother, Pam of Albuquerque; and his Marine brother, Jerry Davis and family of Santa Fe. ¯Kent was a former Marine who served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was working at Camel Rock Casino at the time of his death. Lopez -- Zachary Jose Lopez, A little angel, was born September 4, 2002 and taken to heaven the same day to be with God and join his grandmother, Marie Kozak. ¯Zachary brought such joy to all anticipating his coming and his family and friends will never forget him. Zachary is survived by his parents, Ken and Deana Lopez; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kozak and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lopez; and his aunts and uncles, Janet Lopez, Natalie Chacon, Louie Chacon, and Joseph Kozak. Luhn -- Evan Ryan Luhn, 53, a longtime resident of Albuquerque and most recently of Bosque Farms, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 29, 2002. Born in Rhode Island and moving with his family to New Mexico as a youth, he graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1966. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and subsequently the Coast Guard Reserve. After earning an LVN degree, he returned to New Mexico in the mid 1980s. He was employed by the UNM Mental Health Center and was active in the local arts community. Ryan is survived by two brothers, Roderick of Norfolk, VA and Edward of Bosque Farms, NM; a paternal aunt, Dr. Nellie Currarino of Dallas, TX; a maternal aunt, Mrs. Barbara Messinger of Wakefield, RI; a niece and nephew, Paige and Gregory Luhn of Shrewsbury, NJ; and a nephew and niece, Justin and Brittany Luhn of Norfolk, VA. Ryan will be remembered fondly by all. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to New Mexico AIDS Services. Arrangements have been made to inter his ashes at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, where he will eternally join his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Graham H. Luhn.

Malone -- Roy (Sam) Malone, 73, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, passed away Friday, September 6, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Belva Malone of Albuquerque; son, Wes Malone of Albuquerque; daughters, Cristie Ortiz and husband, Henry of Albuquerque and Lori Hargues and husband, Ken of Carlsbad; niece, Connie Malone of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Lee Knight of Ft. Riley, KS; Lance Ortiz of Kalamazoo, MI, Jeremy Knight, Morgan Ortiz, Jason Hargues, Gerad Malone and Meghan Rae Malone, all of Albuquerque, and Amber Hargues of Carlsbad, NM; great grandchildren, Joshua, Landen, and Sam; and brothers, Terry and Jay Malone of Amarillo, TX. Sam retired from Albuquerque Public Schools in 1987 after 30 years of coaching, teaching, and as a principal. Sam and Belva enjoyed their retirement traveling, golfing, and being with grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Montoya -- Dominic M. Montoya, 14, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on September 4, 2002.¯ Dominic is the beloved son to Bridget Montoya and Eddie Salazar and Paul M. Prohaska -- Margaret P. Prohaska died Monday, September 2, 2002. She was born July 8, 1909. She is survived by stepson, Gerald Prohaska and wife, Paula, their children, April and Jason Prohaska; two nieces, Lois Nordhausen and Candace Walters. She was a legal secretary for Judge Bratton for many years and was employed with Sandia Atomic Energy Corp. for 30 years. She was the longest standing member of PEO, Chapter L, here in Albuquerque. She will be buried beside her husband, Raymond Prohaska, in Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Quintana -- A Rosary for Ray B. Quintana will be recited on Sunday, September 8th at 7:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary located at 400 Third St. SW. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 412 Stover Ave. SW, on Monday, September 9th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery where Ray will be interred with wife, Jennie. Ratchner -- Jeanne Suzanne Ratchner, 57, an Anchorage, AK resident, died August 31, 2002, with her family by her side, after an eight year battle with breast cancer. A Memorial Service was held Saturday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Anchorage. Her ashes will be scattered over the Colorado Rocky Mountains near Durango. Mrs. Ratchner was born on Feburary 18,1945 in Phoenix, AZ to Ernest and Florence DeValk. Her family later moved to Albuquerque, NM. In high school she helped conduct cancer research with skin graphs. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a BA in Education. In 1967 she married her high school sweetheart, Craig Ratchner. She was involved in many activities with her daughters. Jeanne especially enjoyed spending time at their cabin, which they built, in the Zuni mountains. In 1990 Jeanne's family moved to Anchorage. She worked for the Department of Natural Resources. In 1994 Jeanne was diagnosed with breast cancer. The next eight years she focused on healing herself through traditional and natural means. She conducted extensive research and was in the process of writing a book on Naturopathic healing and breast cancer prevention. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church. She enjoyed working outdoors in her yard, caring for her various gardens. Jeanne especially enjoyed traveling with Craig. Jeanne is survived by her husband of 35 years, Craig Ratchner; her three daughters, Suzanne Ratchner of Albuquerque, NM, Denice Frost and husband, Scott of Anchorage, and Amy Barnes and husband, Bill of Sanford, NC;¯ her father, Ernest DeValk; sister, Judy Barnette; and brother-in-law, Darrell Ratchner all of Albuquerque; and many other family members. She will be greatly missed by her Dalmatians, Missy and Tegan. She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence DeValk.

Sacoman -- Adeline R. Sacoman, 63, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on September 6, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Mike Sacoman of Albuquerque; sons, Gene Sacoman and wife Patricia of Penasco, NM and James Sacoman and wife, Debbie; daughters, Angela Jaeger and husband, Gregory and Jennifer Sacoman all of Albuquerque; parents, Jose Maria and Antonia Garcia; sister, Teresa Brown; brothers, Mike Garcia and wife Peggy and Carlos Garcia and wife Phyllis all of Las Vegas, NM; grandsons, Aaron Sacoman and Wesley Sacoman. Mrs. Sacoman was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Shrine Church. She was a loving mother always thinking of others more than herself. She touched the lives and hearts of everyone who came into her life. Rosary will be recited, Sunday, September 8, 2002, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (three blocks north of Paseo del Norte). Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated, Monday, September 9, 2002, 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Shrine Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW with Father John Conway, celebrant. Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Aaron Sacoman, Michael Garcia, Pete Contreras, Tony Turrietta, Frank Turrietta, and Andrew Turrietta. Schultz -- Christopher Schultz, 32, Student of Optical Physics. Christopher Karl Drachenberg Schultz, a dedicated physics student, and wonderful friend to all that knew him, died Thursday June 20th 2002.Chris had been a student at the University of Arizona Optical Sciences department and was working on his PhD. He was involved in many projects and was a valued member of the teams that he was on. In 1999 Chris graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor's degree in Physics. He also was that years recipient of the prestigious Feynman award. He was intensely proud of his dedication and perseverance in getting his degree as well as his acceptance to the University of Arizona Optics program that is known worldwide as being one of the best.He made several good friends while at school and was very proud of the grades he was getting and his contributions there. Before he went out to Arizona he had spent most of his life in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He lived there with his father and brother from the age of 12. He had many terrific friends in Albuquerque who will miss him deeply. A wake was held on Wednesday, June 26th and was attended by his father, brother, and his many friends over the years.Chris was born in Saginaw, Michigan on March 27th 1970. He is survived by his father, Ronald Schultz; mother, Carolyn Schultz; and brother, Jonathan Schultz. His family would like to thank all those that have been kind and giving over this difficult time, and wish for all those who knew him to remember him fondly and for the good times he had on this earth.In Chris's memory, a scholarship fund has been established.
