Bateman -- Neva Marie Bateman, 83, a resident of Albuquerque, died June 26, 2002. Beeler -- Clyde V. Burns Beeler, 96, a resident of Aztec, NM, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at home, after a lengthy illness associated with a stroke. She was born May 19, 1906 in Quanah, TX, the daughter of William and Mary Youngblood. Clyde lived in Aztec for 20 years and then moved to Albuquerque, where she lived until 1998 when she returned to Farmington. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Burns in 1966 and Clyde A. Beeler in 1990; daughter, Fay Reese; and her seven siblings. Clyde is survived by three children, Eugene Burns and wife, Marg of Carney, OK, Lyle Burns and wife, Polly of Albuquerque and Lyla Atkinson and husband, Blaine of Farmington; ten precious grandchildren; 22 lovely great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Her granddaughter, Rhonda Johanson, cared for Clyde in her home during the last two years of her life. Services will be held Friday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Rev. Clyde Stanfield officiating. Benally -- Gary Hugh Benally, September 17, 1960 - June 23, 2002. Gary H. Benally, 41, of Red Valley, AZ passed away at his home in Albuquerque on Sunday, June 23, 2002. He was born September 17, 1960, in Shiprock. He is survived by his wife, Theresa M. Benally; son, Gilbert H. Benally; daughter-in-law, Karen Armstrong; grandson, Damien Benally; foster daughter, Salvina Harvey; daughter, Micheryl Benally; and stepdaughter, Michelle L. Shorty. He is also survived by his father, Timothy H. Benally Sr.; brothers and sisters, Tim H. Benally Jr., Janice Bidtah, Jerry H. Benally, Carol A. Jacobson, Jerolene Chichuchua, Darrell H. Benally and Tamara A. Benally, all of Red Valley and living in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Rose Benally; and brother, Anthony H. Benally. Gary served his country in the U.S. Army from 1979 until 1983 and was discharged as a Specialist 4th Class. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2002, at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Kirtland, NM. Butterbaugh -- Bernice K. Butterbaugh, 90, a resident of Albuquerque for 52 years, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Butterbaugh, Jr. of 54 years. Mrs. Butterbaugh is survived by her sister, Audrey Snelson of Amarillo, TX; son, James F. Butterbaugh of Albuquerque; niece, Rita Peck of Houston, TX; grandsons, James T. Butterbaugh and Scott A. Dotson -- Carl E. Dotson of Socorro, NM passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 27, 2002 after a brief and courageous fight with cancer. He was born December 5, 1926 to Evey L. and Annie M. (Jobe) Dotson in Greenwood, AR. Carl served in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force. In 1951, he met and married Mary Baldock in England. In 1956, he discovered the beauty of New Mexico while flying on uranium searches. In 1957, he and Mary moved to Socorro where they raised their family and lived a happy and loving life together. Carl was a miner and prospector and he developed land and mineral resources in both NM and AZ. His last and longest project was a property in White Oaks, NM where he spent many days walking in the mountains he loved. Carl loved hunting and fishing, had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for his quick wit and kind heart. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all, as he touched the lives of many different people. Carl is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary; daughter, Carol Dotson of Socorro; son, David and wife, Roxanne of Socorro; his mother, Annie of Lathrop, MO; brother, Harold C. Dotson Sr. and wife, Lillian of Socorro; sister, Peggy Mathia of Lathrop, MO; brother, Harold C. Dotson Sr. and wife, Lillian of Socorro; sister, Peggy Mathia of Lathrop, MO; grandson, Bryce; his six nieces and nephews and many good friends. Freiwald -- Dr. David A. Freiwald, 61, a long-term resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Freiwald of Albuquerque; sons, Wes Freiwald and wife, June of Maui, HI, Todd Freiwald and wife, Wendy of Germantown, MD, and Chris Freiwald of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Jake, Ryan, Scott, and Megan, all of Germantown, MD; sister, Carol Grubb and husband, Don of Solon, Ohio; and Joyce's family here in New Mexico. Dr. Freiwald received his B.S. in 1963 and his Ph.D in 1968 from Northwestern University. He worked at Sandia National Laboratories from 1967 to 1973, and at Los Alamos National Laboratories from 1973 to 1981, part of that time in the Director's Office. In 1987 to 1991, he was director and general manager of General Dynamics Laser Systems Laboratory in San Diego, CA. Dr. Freiwald has been recognized in numerous Who's Who including the Marquis"Who's Who in Frontier Science and Technology, Marquis"Who's Who in Science and Engineering," Marquis"Who's Who in the World". He has served as President of the New Mexico Academy of Science. Other organizations and awards include, Tau Beta Pi, Pi Tau Sigma, and Sigma Xi. He was widely recognized for being innovative and had numerous patents. He was internationally respected and recognized as a leader in laser technology and defense systems, and contributed in plasma and shock wave physics. Dr. Freiwald was well known for his sense of humor. Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2002, 3:30 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Good -- 1922-2002. Russell W. Good, 80, died on Wednesday, June 26, 2002. He was a resident of Belen for 18 years after his retirement from Quality Mercury in Bloomington, Minnesota in 1984. Russell, known as Bill to his friends and family, served in the infantry of the 70th Trailblazers Division during World War II before returning to his home in Norwood, MN and working with his father and brothers in the family business. He eventually moved to the Twin City area where he lived and worked until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia; sons, Russell K. and his wife, Melodie of Belen; Michael of Bloomington, MN; Mark and his wife, Barbara of Colorado Springs; and daughters, Mary and her husband, Paul Evans of Tampa, Florida and Colleen and her husband, Steve Hermansen of Savage, MN; his brother, David Good and his wife, Corinne of Albuquerque; his sister, Marlys Good of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Jeff Good and his wife, Kari of Belen, Kelly Good of Tucson, AZ, and Anne-Marie Good of Belen, Jim Evans and Dalena Good of Washington, D.C., Chris and Kalynn Good of Colorado Springs, Sara and Laura Hermansen of Savage, MN, Juli Evans of Tampa, Florida, and Raquel Johnson, and Paul Good of Bloomington, MN; as well as two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Norbert Sanchez on Saturday, June 29, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. to be celebrated by Father David Gallegos. Loesch -- John Lessenger"Jack" Loesch, age 85, a longtime resident of Albuquerque died on the 23rd of June 2002 at St. Joseph Hospital's Sandia Hospice Pavilion after a short illness. He was born October 2, 1916 in Fairfield, IA. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He moved with his family to Albuquerque in 1956. His great love was hiking in the mountains with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia. He is survived by a sister, Suzanne Kline and husband, Willard of Waterloo, IA; and three daughters, Kathie Jarrett and husband, Al of Albuquerque, Pam Hinchcliffe and husband, David of Albuquerque and Sara Frank and husband, Curt of Cupertino, CA. He was much loved by his six grandchildren, David, Benjamin, Jason, Amy, Jeremy and Bethany; and three great-grandchildren, Francesca, Anastasia and James. They loved his sense of humor and his funny stories. Cremation and arrangements are being made by Direct Funeral Services. It was his wish that no services be held. His family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Sandia Hospice.

Lopez -- Leonard T. Lopez, age 67, died Sunday, June 23, 2002. He is survived by daughters, Rosa Lee Lopez and Lisa Ann Blair both of Las Vegas, NV; brothers and sisters, Adan T. Lopez and wife, Nora, Eumelia Lopez, Albert T. Lopez all of Albuquerque, Rosenda (Rose) Strickland and husband, Dave of Apple Valley, CA, Julian Guadalupe T. Lopez of Albuquerque, Maria Benedicta (Bennie) Fulton and husband, Bill of Mayfield, KY, Maria Del Carmen Lopez y Trujillo Lopez Martin and husband, Bryce of Albuquerque, Jose Orlando Lopez and wife, Juanita of Corpus Christi, TX, Rafaelita Romero and husband, Salomon of Los Lunas, and Jolanda Diana Lopez of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Manuel Trujillo Lopez, Raymond Lawrance Lopez Jr., Viola Thackston, Riva Blair, Leanna Blair, and Christian Blair; and several step-children. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Jose B. Lopez and Veneranda Trujillo Lopez; and sister, Elvira Parker. Leonard was a member of AARP and also the American Legion. Molina -- Josefita (Josie) Amelia Trujillo Molina, age 76. Josefita went home to be with the Lord after a long illness on Wednesday, June 26, 2002 in her home at 3:15 a.m. She was born on May 29, 1926 in Jarales, NM to Manuel and Fedelina Trujillo. Josie is preceded by the death of her husband of 54 years, Luis Molina, October 13, 2000. She is survived by six of her eight children, Herman Molina and wife, Hazel, Leroy Molina and wife, Judy, Isidro Molina and wife, Terri, Marie Virginia Schultz and husband, Deacon Ronald Schultz, Eloisa Molina-Dodge and husband, Felipe Dodge II, Annabell Muniz and husband, Albert; two of her baby girls died at birth. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren, Shirley Ann Molina and Danny Torres, Veronica and James Bustos, Theresita Molina, Luis Molina, Shannon and Roger Padilla, Micholine and CJ Patterson, Josephine Molina, Andrew Molina, Misty Schultz, Esperanza Dodge, Felipe Dodge III, Estevan Dodge, Genevieve Muniz, and Emilio Muniz; six great-grandchildren, Anthony, Mercedes T., Dominique, Mercedes P., Shy and Isac; three sisters, Cidia Trujillo and her husband, Albino, Carmen Sanchez and her husband, Elfigo and Rosie Leveque and her husband, Larry; sister-in-law, Clarita Trujillo, wife of Josie's late brother, Eulalio Trujillo, February 19, 2002; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; many cousins, nephews, nieces and countless other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her other brother and two sisters, Erlindo Trujillo, April 8, 1994, Eutimia Montoya, August 9, 1994, and Lola Trujillo, June 20, 1948. Josie was a devoted member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Throughout her many years as a parishioner she had been an active member and volunteer of the Altar Society, Eucharistic League and Holy Hour, St. Vincent De Paul Society, Holy Name Society and the Spanish Choir and she was also a Eucharistic Minister. Josie's life was a wonderful, true example of what a Christian is. She was in love with our Lord, Jesus, and it showed through her devotion to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, and Our Blessed Mother Mary through all her prayers expecially through the divine intervention of the Holy Rosary. She attended daily Mass and Holy Hour visitations fro many years with her husband, Luis. Josie was ALWAYS giving of herself to others. Others ALWAYS came first. Besides having a career as a terrific housewife, the best #1 mom, grandma and great-grandma, she was a generous and giving volunteer. She volunteered her time in taking charge of distributing commodities for the southeast area for a great number of years. For many, many years she helped numerous elderly women with daily chores, doctor and grocery visits, etc. Josie was also quite an artist at repairing and restoring religious statues and religious cloth paintings. As a meditation and hobby for numerous years, she enjoyed and loved the work she did on transforming broken, and sometimes unrecognizable religious statues and paintings into their beautiful former images, often leaving them better than its' original state. Her work can be seen without one realizing it throughout many homes and churches throughout New Mexico. Josie and Luis loved being outdoors where they loved gardening vegetables, fruits and flowers. They loved camping and fishing, and they enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Thanks mom for being you! We will miss your tremendous sense of humor, your laugh and your beautiful smile. Thank you for all the wonderful stories that still make us laugh. We'll miss all the talks we shared. Thank you for all the conversations, your words of wisdom, and teaching. Thank you for sharing all your religious experiences and miracles with us. In our eyes you are truly a saint. We'll miss your warm, welcoming company. Thank you for all the love you constantly gave. We'll miss your spiritual example. Thank you for passing on your beautiful faith in God. We'll miss how you loved to hum and how extremely patient you were. Thank you for being you, the most beautiful woman we know! We love you mom very, very, very much. Until we meet again, mom, rest in peace with the Lord. From all your children. Slater -- Consuelo"Connie" Slater, 77, a resident of Albuquerque for 42 years, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, June 26, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Art; and her three sons, Charles, Pat, and Walter Slater; granddaughters, Connie Rhinehart and husband, Norman of Dallas, TX and Jessi Rae Slater of Albuquerque; grandsons, Chris, Andrew and Michael Slater, all of Albuquerque; and great-grandchildren, Aaron and Melissa Rhinehart, both of Dallas, TX and Cody Slater of Albuquerque. Connie was born in Santa Fe, but was raised in Antonito, CO, where she attended high school. Connie attended college in Atchison, KS studying to become a teacher, but instead, chose a career in politics. She worked as a secretary to Gov. Ed Mecham for two terms, then as secretary to George Beach, County Assessor, also Charlie Woods, New Mexico Education Secretary, Max Coll, Minority Floor Leader and Colin McMillan, Minority Floor Leader, New Mexico House of Representatives. Ulibarri -- Ralph Adan Ulibarri, 63, passed from this life to his Savior on Wednesday, June 26, 2002. Mr. Ulibarri was born in Chaperito, NM on October 24, 1938. Ralph will be remembered as a hard working and loving man, devoted to his wife and three sons. He is survived by his wife, Ida Serna Ulibarri; first son, Ben Ulibarri and wife, Leanne, and daughters, Amanda and Courtney; second son, Randy Ulibarri and daughters, Randi and Kasey; and third son, Ronald Ulibarri and daughters, Samantha and Brittany and son, Calgery. Ralph was the oldest of twelve brothers and sisters, ten of which survive him; Paulita and Jerry DeAguero, Joe and Alice Ulibarri, Betty and Jim Shaw, Ramono Salas, widow of Jerry, Manuel and Charline Ulibarri, Sally and Edward Alarid, Laura Ulibarri, Larry Ulibarri, Gloria Chavez, Arnold and Cynthia Ulibarri, and Michael and Donna Ulibarri; and numerous nieces and nephews. He founded Ulibarri Construction in 1977 and was active in its operation until his death. His passions were jet skiing and snowmobiling. Wade -- James B. (J.B.) Wade, 75, a resident of Rio Rancho for nine years, died on June 24, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jeanette Wade of the family home; children, Linda Brady and husband, Gene of Rio Rancho, Nancy Harmon and husband, Milo of Rio Rancho, Sheri Wade of Gilbert, AZ and Allen Wade of Albuquerque; grandchildren, James, Anthony, Daniel and Naomi Fisher, Joshua, Aaron and Kyle Harmon, Stephanie and Alyssa Toney; sisters, Alberta Estes and Dorine Burton both of Melrose, NM and Betty Terry of Stapleton, GA; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. James retired from White Sands Missile Range in 1993 where he worked as a Mechanical Engineer. He was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church where he and Jeanette met in Wesley Club and were among one of the first couples to be married in the new sanctuary. James was also a member of the Men's Club and the Wesley Club where he met his wife at the church. He graduated from U.N.M. in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. James belonged to NARFE where he is the Northwest District Vice President. He enjoyed fixing cars and belonged to the Albuquerque Genealogy Club. Private interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Memorial Service will be on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 314 Lead SW with Dr. Terry Anderson, officiating.
