Obituary for Dotson

Carl E. Dotson of Socorro, NM passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 27, 2002 after a brief and courageous fight with cancer. He was born December 5, 1926 to Evey L. and Annie M. (Jobe) Dotson in Greenwood, AR. Carl served in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force. In 1951, he met and married Mary Baldock in England. In 1956, he discovered the beauty of New Mexico while flying on uranium searches. In 1957, he and Mary moved to Socorro where they raised their family and lived a happy and loving life together. Carl was a miner and prospector and he developed land and mineral resources in both NM and AZ. His last and longest project was a property in White Oaks, NM where he spent many days walking in the mountains he loved. Carl loved hunting and fishing, had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for his quick wit and kind heart. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all, as he touched the lives of many different people. Carl is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary; daughter, Carol Dotson of Socorro; son, David and wife, Roxanne of Socorro; his mother, Annie of Lathrop, MO; brother, Harold C. Dotson Sr. and wife, Lillian of Socorro; sister, Peggy Mathia of Lathrop, MO; brother, Harold C. Dotson Sr. and wife, Lillian of Socorro; sister, Peggy Mathia of Lathrop, MO; grandson, Bryce; his six nieces and nephews and many good friends. As per Carl's wishes, in lieu of a Service, there will be a celebration of his life and love to be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements by Steadman-Hall Funeral Home, 309 Garfield.
