Obituary for Slater

Consuelo"Connie" Slater, 77, a resident of Albuquerque for 42 years, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, June 26, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Art; and her three sons, Charles, Pat, and Walter Slater; granddaughters, Connie Rhinehart and husband, Norman of Dallas, TX and Jessi Rae Slater of Albuquerque; grandsons, Chris, Andrew and Michael Slater, all of Albuquerque; and great-grandchildren, Aaron and Melissa Rhinehart, both of Dallas, TX and Cody Slater of Albuquerque. Connie was born in Santa Fe, but was raised in Antonito, CO, where she attended high school. Connie attended college in Atchison, KS studying to become a teacher, but instead, chose a career in politics. She worked as a secretary to Gov. Ed Mecham for two terms, then as secretary to George Beach, County Assessor, also Charlie Woods, New Mexico Education Secretary, Max Coll, Minority Floor Leader and Colin McMillan, Minority Floor Leader, New Mexico House of Representatives. Rosary will be recited Friday, June 28, 2002, at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 29, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her sons, Charles, Patrick and Walter Slater; and her grandsons, Chris, Andrew and Michael Slater. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
