Armijo -- Mr. Waldo Armijo went to be with the Lord on June 22, 2001. Mr. Armijo was born on January 4, 1919 in Golden, NM. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the DAV. Mr. Armijo was retired from the Albuquerque Public Schools. He is survived by his wife, Matilda Armijo; stepson, Matthew Jaramillo; stepdaughters, Theresa Roach and Catherine Jaramillo; sister-in-law, Ursulita Armijo; special niece, Eva Castillo; four step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Armijo will be held on Tuesday at the Ascension Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Robert Armijo, Bernie Armijo, Fabian Arrey, Thomas Gonzales, Matthew Jaramillo and Elisa Jaramillo. A visitation will take place today between 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Salazar & Sons Chapel. A Rosary for Mr. Armijo will be recited on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.

Burns -- Jerry A. Burns, born November 7, 1935, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, died of a heart attack June 23, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital. A free spirit and a doer of many things, he was always ready for a new start and a big dream. His mother, Ruth A. Burns and sister, Paula W. Bishop, will miss him all the rest of their lives. Cardell -- Rita Catala Cardell, born June 11, 1917, near Ponce, Puerto Rico, passed away on June 23, 2001, her family was blessed to share her final moments. Rita is survived by her granddaughter, Maelen Marie Cardell and by her loving son, Michael and his family, Ede, Karly and Cheyenne. Rita was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Chester R. Cardell, who passed away on December 12, 2000. Once again they will be together, as it should be. Rita was very proud of her accomplishments and contributions, including her time as a registered nurse and the many years she spent as executive secretary of the New Mexico Lions Eye Bank. We will all miss her thoughtful caring nature. Our family would like to thank the staff at Manzano Del Sol for all the love they had for Rita; and also, the many people at Kaseman Hospice for all the caring, compassion and guidance through this difficult time. Ellison -- Sandra L. Ellison-Carrell, 38, passed away June 22, 2001. She is survived by her sons, Brian Ellison Jr. and Mark Ellison of Albuquerque; daughter, Kendra Ellison; their father, Brian Ellison Sr.; her parents, Oddie B. and Rebecca Carrell; brothers, Oddie B. Carrell, Jr. of San Antonio, TX, Alonzo Carrell and Carl Wayne Carrell, both of Albuquerque; sisters, Peggy L. Carrell of San Antonio, TX, Diane Ricks, Reba Weatherly and Linda Gail Carrell, all of Albuquerque; and her grandmother, Ola M. Ellison of Albuquerque. Fenstermacher -- Dan Bill Fenstermacher. Dan passed away while on vacation with his wife. He worked at Sandia Labs for the past thirty-four years and was a retired reservist for Navy. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Albuquerque; two daughters, Rhonda Beltran and Lisa Fenstermacher, both of Albuquerque; and three grandchildren, Sarah, Kayla, and Jacob also of Albuquerque. We'll all miss you. Huffman -- James "Lewie" (Papa) Huffman, 100, a resident of Albuquerque since 1930, passed away peacefully with family at his side. Born in Kirbyville, TX, he was the youngest of nine children born to Frances and Millard Huffman. Mr. Huffman is survived by his son, James L. Huffman Jr. and wife, Sally of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Carol Zimmerman and husband, Roy of N. Ogden, UT; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous friends. "Papa" lived at his home with his granddaughter, Kari Biernacki and husband, Buzz. His homecare during the day was lovingly provided by Nancy Oldfield and Nannette Macias-Ray. Mr. Huffman was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Delphia, and son, Ronald. In 1930, he entered an apprenticeship program and began working for the Albuquerque Journal/Tribune as a Stereo-typer and retired 42 years later. A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend he exemplified the values of family and kindness each day of his life. Despite being over 100 years old he enjoyed traveling, visiting and reminiscing. He often shared stories of watching Babe Ruth play baseball, meeting "Pretty-boy" Floyd, and hearing about the Titanic the day it sank. He loved meeting new people and having them try to guess how old he was. After they guessed once or twice, his eyes would twinkle and he would tell them he was over 100. His smile and warmth will be missed. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE, with Mr. John Hunt officiating. Jimenez -- Arturo "Tudy" Jimenez, 71, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, June 22, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Annie Jimenez de Chavez of Albuquerque; sons, Marty Jimenez and wife, Kathy of Sterling, VA, Steve Jimenez and wife, Linda, of Albuquerque and Gabriel Jimenez of Albuquerque; daughters, Ronnie Mora and husband, David of Enfield, CT, Sandi Greene of Enfield, CT and Felicia Jimenez of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Monica, Marlo, Erika, Gabe and Nicklas; great grandchildren, Samantha, Tyler, Desi, Willy and Kyle; sister, Esther Collado and husband, Angel of Albquerque, NM; and 2 loving companions, Don King and Kitty Kitty. Art served in the Korean War and then went to work for Sandia Labs, retiring after 44 years. He was"Mr. Fix-It" for all that knew him. He was also an evening manager for the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge for 12 years. Kollman -- Eloise M. Kollman passed away on June 21, 2001 in Albuquerque. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ray Kollman; two sons, David Kollman and Mark Kollman and wife Laurie all of Albuquerque. Eloise was a long time member of AAUW and a career educator in public and Indian schools. Morgan -- Virgil Morgan, 67, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959, died Thursday, June 21, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Morgan of Albuquerque; and son, Roy K. Morgan of Albuquerque. Mr. Morgan was a member of Bear Canyon Golf Association and UNM Lobo Club. He was a principal at Inez Elementary, Acoma Elementary, Kirkland Elementary, and Sombra del Monte schools. Neal -- Andrew Wayne Neal, infant son of Wayne and Mary Neal, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2001. He is also survived by his brother, Dorian Dixon; sister, Christina Dixon; grandparents, Stephen W. Neal and Judy A. Neal, Carlos and Carolyn Delira; great-grandparents, Virginia Neal, Wayne and Sandra Neal and Antonia Marquez; and numerous aunts and uncles. Ostlie -- Gertrude "Gertie" Ostlie, 96, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, went to be with her Lord Thursday, June 21, 2001. She is survived by her sons, Robert Ostlie and Jim Ostlie and wife, Judy, all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ostlie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Ostlie; daughter, June Ostlie; and son, Charles Ostlie. She was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church. Gertrude was an example of living her life to the fullest. She loved her Lord, fishing, traveling and her church family. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at Christ United Methodist Church, 6200 Gibson Blvd. NE, with Rev. Larry Castillo-Wilson officiating. Saavedra -- Ricardo Saavedra, 81, beloved and devoted husband, father and grandfather was called home to be with the Lord, Friday, June 22, 2001. Mr. Saavedra was born in Lone Poke, CA and was a resident of Albuquerque; he was a proud World War II Veteran. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Viviana Saavedra of the family home; his daughters, Carmen Wells and husband Gene of Woodward, OK, Enedine Josephine Hook and husband Charles and Rosemary Dever of Albuquerque; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many other relatives. Visitations will be today from 6:00 p.m. till the time of Rosary which be recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Final viewing will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Escobosa Cemetery in Escobosa, NM. Wheeler -- Carl Wheeler, Sr., 89, of Richland, WA, passed away on June 23, 2001 at Kadlec Hospital. Carl was born in Sylvia, Reno County, Kansas to Scott and Bertha Wheeler on May 31, 1912. Carl had live in the area for 26 years. Carl was self-employed as a Gunsmith and sporting goods store owner. He was a member of the Central United Protestant Church, The Masons, Elks, National Rifle Association and Richland Rod and Gun Club.
