Rita Catala Cardell, born June 11, 1917, near Ponce, Puerto Rico, passed away on June 23, 2001, her family was blessed to share her final moments. Rita is survived by her granddaughter, Maelen Marie Cardell and by her loving son, Michael and his family, Ede, Karly and Cheyenne. Rita was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Chester R. Cardell, who passed away on December 12, 2000. Once again they will be together, as it should be. Rita was very proud of her accomplishments and contributions, including her time as a registered nurse and the many years she spent as executive secretary of the New Mexico Lions Eye Bank. We will all miss her thoughtful caring nature. Our family would like to thank the staff at Manzano Del Sol for all the love they had for Rita; and also, the many people at Kaseman Hospice for all the caring, compassion and guidance through this difficult time. Services will be held Thursday, 4:00 p.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Rev. Benjamin Larzelere, III officiating. Entombment will follow.
