Dalton -- In Memory ofTHOMAS V. DALTON January 22, 1971 - December 5, 1999Born in Edina, Tom was a native of Minnesota. He graduated, Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 1993. He was a member of Chi Epsilon, The National Civil Engineering Honor Society, and Tau Beta Pi. On his graduation, he moved to Albuquerque, where he was employed by Dames & Moore, Smith Engineering, and most recently by the engineering consultants firm of BRW. He received Registrations as a Professional Engineer in New Mexico in August, 1998 and in Colorado in September, 1999. He was working on his Masters Degree in C.E. at the University of New Mexico. While serving on the Fair West Neighborhood Association's Board of Directors in 1998 & 1999, Tom shared his talents by helping on a number of projects designed to improve the quality of life for his neighbors. Tom enjoyed many sports, but was a bicycling enthusiast. He toured in both the USA and Europe. Tom is survived by his parents, John and Marge Dalton; brothers, Gregory and wife, Julie, John and wife, Tammy, Mark and Sarah, Jim and fiance, Zoe; as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many friends, neighbors and co-workers. He was a concerned and caring person who left us too soon. He is loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. An informal memorial service, to remember Tom and celebrate his life, will be held Sunday, February 20, 2000 at the Marion L. Fox Memorial Park, in the 700 Block between Alvarado and Valencia NE at 1:00 p.m. All those who knew and cared for him are invited to attend. If our capricious New Mexico weather interferes, the service will be re-relocated nearby.

Duran -- Lee Duran, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, and a former resident of Las Vegas, NM, died Wednesday, February 16, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Hope Duran of the family home; stepson, Robert Teller and wife, Robin; grandchildren, Stephen Teller and Ellesse Teller, all of Los Alamos; sister, Josie Romero of Las Vegas; and brother, Manuel Duran and wife, Mary of Albuquerque. Mr. Duran served in the US Army during World War II, in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and France. He was discharged after having been injured, and was awarded the Purple Heart. In 1975, he was awarded the Most Outstanding Handicapped Employee at Kirtland Air Force Base. Mr. Duran was a lifetime member of D.A.V. Rosary will be recited Friday, 5:30 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University NE, with Deacon Manuel Montoya reciting. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Therese Little Flower Church, 300 Mildred Ave. NW, with Father John Plans, S.F., Celebrant. Ellis -- Mary Van Atta Ellis died at 7:00 a.m., February 16, 2000 in the Cardiac Telemetry Unit of Presbyterian Hospital-downtown from complications of Aspirated Pneumonia and Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. She was born in the Maytag Wing of the same hospital on April 14, 1936. Mary was the daughter of Helen Sisk Van Atta and Dr. John Roberts Van Atta who established New Mexico's first pathology and radiology laboratory. After their father's death, she jointly with her sister, Myrle Amanda Redmond, endowed a scholarship for senior medical students at the University of New Mexico Medical School in memory of their father. Mary graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1958, where she was a member of Gamma Beta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma, which was co-founded by her aunt, Myrl Hope Sisk. She taught at Hodgin Elementary School in Albuquerque for two years before entering Navy Officers Candidate School in Newport, RI. Following her commissioning as an ensign, she was assigned to the Western Sea Frontier Command on Treasure Island in San Francisco, CA, where she met her future husband, James Ellis. They were married on August 23, 1961 and reared three children, Mary Ellis Clark of Nashville, TN and Jane Van Atta Ellis and Robert Renshaw Ellis, both of Albuquerque. A Memorial service will be held at 1st Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2000 with Dr. Paul Debenport and Rev. Myron White officiating. Ford -- Rosemary D. Ford, age 74, resident of Albuquerque for 49 years, died on February 16, 2000 at her home in Albuquerque. Mrs. Ford is survived by her husband of 52 years, John P. Ford; her daughter, Colleen Meseroll and husband, William of Santa Rosa, CA; sons, Dan Ford and wife, Susan of Seattle, WA, Jerry Ford of Albuquerque; Jeff Ford and wife, Elizabeth of Corrales; five grandchildren, Molly and Katie Meseroll, Andrea and Sam Ford, and Carlene Ford. Mrs. Ford was active in church activities at Holy Ghost Parish for many years. She served as an officer for the Marie Amadeus Shelter for Homeless Women and was also active with Birthright of Albuquerque serving as a counselor, board president and treasurer. She was an ardent golfer and belonged to the Los Altos Women's Golf Association and Gourmet Golf Group. A prayer service will be held at Holy Ghost Church, 833 Arizona SE, 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 18, 2000. Mass will celebrated be at Holy Ghost Church, 833 Arizona SE, Saturday, February 19, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Joe Vigil, Celebrant. Interment will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Garcia -- Mrs. Ignacita Garcia died in Albuquerque at the age of 95. She was a member of the Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary. She is survived by her sons, Gilbert Garcia of Albuquerque and Lawrence Garcia of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Fidela Montoya; grandchildren, Rudy, Reyes, Ignacita, Michelle, Irene, Fidelito, Eileen, Lisa, Bobbi, Lester, Diana, Janet and Mark Garcia; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Garcia will be held on Saturday at the St. Anne Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Santa Clara Cemetery. Gleen -- Sidney S. Gleen, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on February 15, 2000. Sidney was born to Max and Bertha Horack Gleen on July 21, 1922 in New York. He married his beloved wife, Roslyn Frankel on November 23, 1947. Mr. Gleen was a Navy veteran of WWII. Sidney was an avid sports fan and a die-hard New York Yankee fan. His passions were his children and grandchildren. He was the most beloved husband and father, and will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends. Mr. Gleen is survived by his loving wife, Roslyn of Rio Rancho; his sons, Jeff and wife, Moira of Albuquerque and Harris and wife, Marie of Shelton, CT; two grandchildren, Jessica and Justin; brother-in-law, Arnold Frankel and Rochelle of New York. Cremation has taken place and private services were held. Grant -- Lottie Holbrook was born June 14, 1904, at Orchard, Nebraska and grew up on a farm east of Orchard, where she attended the Orchard Public School. After graduating high school, she attended Wayne College in normal training and began teaching school near Laurel, Nebraska, where she became acquainted with Earl Schuler. They eloped and were married September 10, 1926 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Earl was then employed in the Crossland State Bank and had a promising career ahead of him as they made their home in Laurel. Lottie and Earl were blessed with four sons, Donovan, Arlyn, and twin boys, Richard and Robert. The twins were born on Valentines Day, the only twins born on this day in the State of Nebraska. Tragedy struck the family when Earl was stricken and rushed to the hospital in Sioux City, Iowa and passed away on August 14, 1942. In 1949, Lottie married Maurice Grant, an acquaintance of the Schulers from Laurel, and around 1950, they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Maurice was employed by Sandia National Laboratories. Bob and Dick graduated from Highland High School in Albuquerque. Maurice was handy with tools and had a talent for remodeling houses so they moved a number of times after remodeling their homes. Lottie enjoyed crafts and among her talents did a beautiful china painting and artistic eggshell creations. After Maurice passed away in 1982, Lottie continued to live in Albuquerque and was often visited by her sisters, and family and friends, with her sons helping take care of the maintenance and chores around home. Mrs Grant was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and four sisters. She is survived by three sisters, Mina DeFreeze of Omaha, NE, Neala Whitehead of Phoenix AZ, and Elsie Mitchell of Norfolk, NE; four sons and daughters-in-law, L. Donovan Schuler and wife, Alice of Omaha, NE, Arlyn L. Schuler and wife, Martha of Belle Vista, AR, Richard E. Schuler and wife, Mary, Robert L. Schuler and wife, Emily, all of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 21, 2000, from 12 noon to 8:00 p.m., at Schumacher-Hasemann Funeral Home in Laurel, Nebraska. Services will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Laurel Cemetery in Laurel, Nebraska. Housman -- Levi Colton Grant Housman, 14-month old son of Reese Butler Housman and Pamela Jo Housman of Fort Collins, died Sunday, February 13, 2000, in Fort Collins. Perea -- Theodore (Ted) Perea Jr., 65, a resident of San Francisco, California for over 30 years, passed away on February 5, 2000 at the Veterans Hospital in San Francisco after battling cancer for the past year. He was the son of Palmer Alarid and Ted Perea Sr., both deceased. He was born in Albuquerque on the 13 of October, 1934. He joined the US Marine Corp in 1951 and served four years. He retired from Hertz Car Rental in San Francisco two years ago after over 25 years of service. He was preceded in death by both parents and one brother, Phillip Perea. He is survived by five brothers, Lorenzo Perea and wife, Carmen, Joe (Kandy) Candelaria and wife, Sandy, Edward, Louie and Ricky Candelaria; and five sisters, Eleanor Apodaca and husband, Harold, Antonette Dietrich and husband, Bill, Gloria Hossom, Margie Lopez and husband, Randy, Alice Candelaria; and very close friends, George and Joann Lung. A special thanks to Gigi Trabant, RN, who held Ted in her arms for us in his final hour of life and for her special care she gave him during his stay at the VA. Also thanks go to Dr. Ben Davoren who took a personal interest in Ted, and to his friends and neighbors, Mark, Charles and Frank for helping him during his time of treatment. His body was cremated in San Francisco on Saturday the 12th of February, 2000. He will be missed greatly by family and friends where he left some special memories.

Petersen -- Sabrina V. Petersen, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, died Sunday, February 13, 2000 after a long illness. She was born October 27, 1956 in Bangor, Maine. She was a resident of Albuquerque for the last 20 years. Sager -- John Barre Sager of Laramie, Wyoming, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2000 in the home of his aunt in Albuquerque. He was born April 27, 1945 in Albuquerque to Geraldine and Harold Sager. He attended grade school in New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, New York, California and New Jersey. After attending Franklin High School in New Jersey, John enlisted in the US Navy on April 14, 1964. He served in Great Lakes, Illinois, Port Hueneme, California, Adak, Alaska, and Chu Lai, Vietnam, where he received a Letter of Commendation for the work he performed during the deployment. In addition, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Fleet Marine Force Combat Insignia. After transferring to the Naval Reserve, John was honorably discharged on April 13, 1970. John received an Associates of Arts degree in Technical Forestry from Lassen Community College in Susanville, California in 1970. He worked for the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service in California, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming. He last worked in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest as a log scaler and timber sale administrator. He was recognized in his home on January 28, 2000 for his work in administering the salvage timber sales from Routt divide blowdown. He will be missed by his friends in the Forest Service who admired him for his work ethics, humor, and dignity. As a member of the Elks Club he was involved in community service activities. He also loved his dogs, Mo and Duch. He will be missed by his family who have come to know him as a very unselfish and caring man. John was preceded in death by his father, Harold Lee Sager. He is survived by his mother, Geraldine Barre Sager of Albuquerque; his children, Charolette Lee Jones and Michael Shane Sager of Bakersfield, CA; and their mother, Dianne Nagle, also of Bakersfield; as well as his uncle, George T. Barre; and his aunts, Dorothy Kidd, Barbara Diewald, Leona Harmond and Vera Cato. A graveside service open to friends and family will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 19 at the Fairview Memorial Park in the Veterans area at 700 Yale SE, in Albuquerque. Schroer -- Frances A."Fran" Schroer, born in Dayton, OH, and a fifty year resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2000. She worked for many years at Sandia Corporation, and is especially remembered for her volunteer work with St. Joseph and the V.A. Hospitals. Fran was preceded in death by her husband, Henry (Hank) Schroer; and her son, John Henry (Jack) Schroer. Survivors include her son, Kenneth Charles Schroer; her grandson, John Henry (Sonny) Schroer; and her son-in-law, Douglas Boyer, all of Lake Hopatcong, NJ; and her granddaughter, Paris Albritton of Sausalito, CA. Springer -- Irene T. Springer, 79, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, from a Pioneering Old Town Family, died Tuesday, February 15, 2000. She is survived by her sister, Odelia S. She was preceded in death by her parents, Climaco and Juanita Springer; and brother, Manuel Springer Sr. Irene was a very special caregiver, having cared for her mother and volunteered at local hospitals and nursing homes. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas NE, with Father Francis X. Eggert, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Stecher -- Frederick J. Stecher, 69 years, a resident of Rio Rancho for six years, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Gerda Stecher; two daughters, Karin Atkinson and husband, Gary and Ingrid Reade and husband, Rob; one grandchild, Karly Atkinson; two brothers, Andrew Stecher of Florida and Hans Stecher of Germany; and many family members and friends. He was a member of the Meadowlark Senior Center's Fishing Club. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2000, 11:30 a.m., at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho, NM 87124. White -- Shirley White, 70, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, February 15, 2000.
