Altavilla -- Virginia V. Altavilla, 92, a resident of Rio Rancho for 29 years, passed away on Friday, January 22, 1999. Virginia was born to Gustav Rispoli and Maria (Dalbis) Rispoli in Naples, Italy on February 3, 1906. Virginia worked in retail sales for Saks Fifth Avenue for nine years before retiring. Virginia was a member of Felician Sisters Auxiliary and the Meadowlark Senior Center in Rio Rancho. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Corrado Altavilla. Virginia is survived by one daughter, Lillian Falco of Rio Rancho; one grandson, Matthew Bauer; one niece, Eleanor Blanken of Phoenix, AZ. Visitation will be Tuesday 1:00 to 3:30 PM in Vista Verde Chapel. Services for Virginia will be Tuesday, January 26, 1999, at Vista Verde Memorial Chapel 3:30 p.m. with The Rev. Bailey -- Anna Marie Bailey passed away at her home on Saturday, January 23, 1999. Born on January 4, 1914 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the oldest child of Gregory and Pearl Romansik who emigrated from Ukraine. A charter member of First United Methodist Church in Los Alamos. Mrs. Bailey was President of the United Methodist Women (WSCS) and District Vice President. She was a charter member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church in Albuquerque and most recently a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. Mrs. Bailey joined the Rebekah Lodge, I.O.O.F., in Ohio in 1943, and at her death was a member of Mountain View Rebekah Lodge #36 in Albuquerque. She served as State President of the NM Rebekah Assembly in 1976 and 1977. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John L. Bailey of the family home; son, Frederick and wife, Mal-ye and family; daughter, Judith; daughter, Jean Nelson and husband, Ron, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Damon John Schulze of Los Angeles, CA, Rustin Nelson of Dallas, TX, Randin Nelson of Albuquerque, Cheri Lynne Powers and husband, Tom of Colorado Springs, CO and David C. Bailey and wife, Rose of Moriarty; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Fred, Peter, Charles and Nicholas; and two sisters, Mary and Genevieve. Mrs. Bailey was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. In her community service, she became"mother" to many children whose lives she touched. Castro -- Salvador T."Sal" Castro, 76, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, January 23, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Frances B. Castro of the family home; sons, Robert Castro of Albuquerque and Ted Castro and wife, Jennifer of Placentia, CA; daughters, Flora Castro, Stephnie Stone and husband, Kevin, Trini Taylor and husband, Maurice, Virginia Castro, Linda Durgan and Yvette Garcia, all of Albuquerque; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Montoya and husband, Louie of Albuquerque; and beloved niece, Leonella Garcia. Graham -- Elsie Eleanor Graham, age 88 and a resident of Albuquerque for 43 years passed away on Friday January 22, 1999. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy L. Zimmerly and her husband, Rick of Albuquerque, and Sandra G. Prestiene and her husband, Bruce of Sherman, TX; and one grandson, Steven Davis; four sisters, Alice Tollakson, Alma Lundberg, Wanetta Busch, and Louise Brassie; two sisters-in-law, Mary Mattix, and Bette Humbard and her husband, Merle; brother-in-law, Jack Graham and his wife, Clara, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Orvalle Wm. (Doc) Graham in 1977. Mrs. Graham was a life member of the Eastern Star of the Grand Chapter of Kansas, and Progress Chapter 49. She managed the Bird of Paradise Motel for many years, and owned and operated the Rodeo Court Motel on Central. Smith -- Catherine Smith, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1970, passed away Friday, January 22, 1999. She is survived by her son, Joseph M. Smith III and wife, Patricia of Santa Fe; daughter, Cairn Smith of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Leland, Dustin, and Caitlin Smith and Mitchell Olson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Joseph M. Smith Jr., who passed away September 2, 1998; a brother, James Wylie; and her sister's, Elizabeth Most, Isabell Prevost, and Jean Joyce. Formerly of Santa Rosa, Mrs. Smith was a member of the Eastern Star and the Albuquerque Country Club. She loved her art. She painted china and oil portraits, which were displayed in local events in the Albuquerque area. Tellyer -- Brigetta H."Kitty", President of the Tellyer Company, died at La Posada, Residential Hospice Center, January 22, 1999. Born in Berlin, Germany, September 1925. Attended school and later college in Berlin where she worked during WWII for the German government. As the war progressed she joined the Allied Forces as a typist and an interpreter. Kitty married her first husband and returned to the United States to later become a citizen. She met her second husband, Harry B. Tellyer (Pardner), in Albuquerque as an Author Murray dance instructor. After moving to Las Cruces Kitty and Pardner worked together in the development of Telshor Hills and later Tellbrook. For many years she was an active member of Altrusa and recently the Alumnae Club of Alpha Chi Omega. She was also involved for over 30 years with the Miss NM USA Beauty pageant. She served as a judge and a mentor for young women starting out in pageant competitions. She is survived by her"adopted" sons and daughters-in-law, Rob Fitzpatrick, wife, Michelle and David Fitzpatrick, wife, Marta; stepdaughter and grandson, Donna and Alan Fastle. Whitlow -- Bertha Whitlow, 88, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 21, 1999. She is survived by her children, Jean Vinke of Albuquerque, Donald Whitlow and wife, Eloise of Tucumcari, NM, Dale Whitlow of Peralta, NM, Jerry Whitlow and wife, Deborah of Tijeras, NM, and Darlene Hoskins and husband, Wayne of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous other relatives and friends. Mrs. Whitlow was preceded in death by her husband, Rip Whitlow. She was a loving mother, grandmother, enjoyed being a homemaker, and was a school bus driver for 25 years. Wilson -- W.J. Tunny Wilson died Tuesday, January 19, 1999. Cremation has taken place. Tunny was born February 10, 1937 in Hereford, Texas. His family moved to Albuquerque in January 1952. He was graduated from Highland High School in 1955, and was a co-captain of the Highland High School State Football Championship Team of 1954. Tunny served with the U.S. Army in Korea and was graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Business in 1964. He was a graduate of UNM School of Law in 1986 after successful careers in the securities industry and real estate. He practiced law in Albuquerque and Durango, Colorado until his illness. Tunny was a multi-engine aircraft instrument pilot instructor and accomplished horseman. In lieu of flowers, Tunny requested donations to the"Make a Wish Foundation" of New Mexico, 5301 Central Avenue NE 87108. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, Fourth and Silver, Downtown Albuquerque. Friends will be welcomed at a gathering in the church hall after the service. .DMP
