Obituary for Smith

Catherine Smith, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1970, passed away Friday, January 22, 1999. She is survived by her son, Joseph M. Smith III and wife, Patricia of Santa Fe; daughter, Cairn Smith of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Leland, Dustin, and Caitlin Smith and Mitchell Olson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Joseph M. Smith Jr., who passed away September 2, 1998; a brother, James Wylie; and her sister's, Elizabeth Most, Isabell Prevost, and Jean Joyce. Formerly of Santa Rosa, Mrs. Smith was a member of the Eastern Star and the Albuquerque Country Club. She loved her art. She painted china and oil portraits, which were displayed in local events in the Albuquerque area. Services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at Santa Rosa United Methodist Church, 401 4th St., with Rev. Ralph G. Valdez officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jody Smith, David Smith, L.J. Smith, Dustin Smith, Dennis Shiplit, and Buster Dudrey. Friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Eastern Star of Santa Rosa, 300 Baca Street.
