Baird -- Pearl Harvey Baird, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 11, 1999. She was born May 29, 1913 at Lake Valley, Arkansas, and moved to New Mexico as a young child, living both in Gallup and Albuquerque. In 1930, she married Arthur C."Buddy" Baird who preceded her in death in 1984. Together they owned and operated the 4th and Silver Car Park for many years. Mrs. Baird was involved in many church and community activities. Survivors include her daughter, Pat Meyer and husband, Robert of Los Gatos, CA; grandchildren, Robert Meyer and Kathleen Shrader and husband, Nick of San Jose, CA, David Meyer and wife, Laura of Santa Rose, CA and Gary Meyer of Santa Clara, CA; six great-grandchildren; her niece, Susan Blakley and husband, Garth of Edgewood, NM; nephew, Dick Partington and wife, Carol of Cortez, CO; and many other relatives and dear friends. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 15, 1999, 10:30 a.m., at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 833 Arizona SE, with Father Joe as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to a charity of choice. Sunrise Society of New Mexico is serving the family of Mrs. Baird, (891-8200).

Benavidez -- Ramona Benavidez, 80, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, January 12, 1999. She is survived by her children, Frank Benavidez and wife, Frances, Pat Garcia and husband, Orlando, Herman Benavidez and wife, Velma, all of Albuquerque, Priscilla Sanchez and husband, Danny of Espanola and Geraldina Abeyta of Albuquerque; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Rose Marquez of Grants, Sally Varela and Corrine Vigil, both of Albuquerque. Prayer services will be held Friday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Bosley -- Donald A. Bosley, Sr., 77, a resident of Albuquerque for over 35 years, died Wednesday, January 13, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Lottie Bosley of Albuquerque; sons, Donald Bosley, Jr., Of Modesto, CA, Maynard Bosley of Las Vegas, NV, Robert Bosley, and Richard Handley of Albuquerque; sister, Virginia Gatton of Mesa, AZ; 25 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; and stepchildren, Findley Gazaway and wife, Barbara and Fern McNabb and husband, Earl , all of Bakersfield, CA, Ed Hourigan and wife, Judy of Chico, CA, Marv Hourigan and wife, Erlinda of Albuquerque, and Darwin Hourigan and wife, Ann of Jemez Springs, NM. Candelaria -- Mrs. Lita Candelaria, 87, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on January 8, 1999. Mrs. Candelaria was the beloved mother of six daughters, Florella Gonzales, Ramona Martinez, Catre Carlos and husband, Ruben, Ignacita Candelaria, Rosie Urban and Patsy Herrera and husband, Nestor; two sons, Juan de Dios Candelaria and Tito Candelaria; 83 grandchildren; 151 great-grandchildren; and 30 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Candelaria was preceded in death by her husband, Tito; two sons, Ricardo and Justo. Mrs. Candelaria was a member of the Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW, with visitation at the church after 6:30 p.m. Naomi Herrera will recite the Rosary. Chavez -- Margaret"Peggy" Chavez, 57, a resident of Albuquerque since 1977, died Monday, January 11, 1999. She is survived by her brothers, John Harkins and wife, Shirley of Benzonia, MI, and Michael Harkins and wife, Lily of Columbus, GA; five nieces and nephews; two great-nieces; and many close and loving friends. Mrs. Chavez was preceded in death by her husband, Jose M. Chavez in 1980. Peggy was a well known realtor in Albuquerque for the past 19 years. She was currently with E.R.A. 1st City Realtors. Comiskey -- A precious heart stopped beating. Our beloved mother and grandmother, Flora V. Comiskey, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Jo Sena; son, Frank Comiskey and wife, Patti; grandson, Art Sena and wife, Jean, Richard Sena and wife, Linda, Frank Comiskey Jr. and wife, Sarah and Gary Comiskey and wife, Karen; great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Amber Sena and Austin and Kyle Comiskey; brother, Willie and wife, Arcelia; nephew, James Reck; numerous other relatives; and her special friend Ed Ortiz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; sons, Joseph Jr., and John; and parents, Clarita and Francisco Valencia. Flora was a native New Mexican and had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1952. She was a Gold Star Mother and served locally as department president and chaplain at various times. Flora was a lifetime member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the D.A.V. She was a volunteer at the Veteran's Hospital for many years. Delapena -- Mrs. Mary DeLaPena died Tuesday in Albuquerque, her passing was peaceful and calm. She is survived by her children, Julio DeLaPena and wife, Debra of Albuquerque, Ruben DeLaPena and wife, Charlotte of Houston, TX, Mark DeLaPena and wife, Renee of Sacramento, CA, Steven DeLaPena of Albuquerque and Kennedy DeLaPena of Albuquerque; daughters, Patricia DeLaPena of Houston, TX and Mary Lou Lopez and husband, Jose of Albuquerque; and two brothers, Arcenio Sanchez and Ignacio Sanchez both of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Ruben, Paul and Leon DeLaPena of Houston, TX, Chase, Marcus and Niko DeLaPena of Sacramento, CA, Joey and Milinda Lopez of Albuquerque. Gallegos -- Ruby Gallegos, born in Golden, NM, passed away on January 12. She was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by her son, J.A. (Al) Chavez, his wife, Trinnie; her daughter, Marlene Goodrich; a sister, Rose Guttierez; granddaughters, Karen and Noelle Goodrich, Kathryn Zottnic and husband, Kyle all of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Elizabeth Johnson and husband, Scott of Bosque Farms; grandson, Chuck Chavez of Seattle; grandson, Dennis Goodrich and wife, Darlene of Dallas; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Garcia -- Conrad Garcia, May 18, 1912-January 9, 1999, passed away peacefully at ManorCare Heights where he had resided since 1993. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Margaret Gallemore and his grandson, Aaron Robert Gallemore. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Josephine, and his son, Bobby. He was born in San Antonito, NM of Prajedes Gutierrez Garcia and Carlos Garcia. Conrad will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his generosity, his kindness, and his foresight. His love will be missed by all. His family would like to thank the staff and attendants at ManorCare Heights for caring for him and loving him. They would also like to thank all the relatives and friends that stood by him and his family. A special thanks goes to Mr. Jimmy Juarez, retired principal, and Mr. Bob Hennig, principal at Sandia High School for their understanding and patience and consideration to family members during his illness. Garcia -- Mrs. Bernadette Garcia, 52, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family on January 11, 1999. Mrs. Garcia was the beloved wife of 25 1/2 years to Mr. Michael S. Garcia. She is also survived by her sons, David Garcia and Julian Garcia; one step-daughter, Sonia Pagett and husband, Darwin; and one step-son, Tony Garcia; her parents, Jose T. and Josephine Garcia; sisters, Patricia Sanchez, Marcella Chavez and husband, Joe, Roberta Aguilar and husband, Manuel; brother, Jerry L. Garcia; six grandchildren; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Garcia was a member of the Catholic Church. Griego -- Alfonso V. Griego, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, died Monday, January 11, 1999. Mr. Griego was born February 14, 1906 in Garita, NM to Justo and Gertudes Griego. At the age of 15, he became the youngest grocery store merchant in New Mexico and owned Griego and Bernal Grocery Store, a business owner of a gasoline station on the outskirts of Santa Rosa; Al Brad Carpet Cleaners in Albuquerque, Al's Food Market in Albuquerque, Al's Supermarket in Socorro, Al-Max Carpet Cleaners and Al 'n Son Cleaners, both in CA. He served as Sergeant of Arms for the NM State Legislature from 1969 to 1985; and he was the author of"Good-Bye My Land of Enchantment,""Voices Of The Territory" and"Panchita." He was also the founder of the NM Retired Middle Age Association. On March 7, 1982, he married Esibia (Sylvia) Martinez in Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by a son, Rudy Griego; and a step-son, Tony Martinez. Mr. Griego is survived by his loving wife, Esibia (Sylvia) Griego of Albuquerque; two sisters, Eloisa Lopez de Griego and Gregoria (Lily) Lopez de Griego; one step-son Charles Martinez and wife, Sharon of West Covina, CA; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Funeral Services will be conducted today at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, on the corner of 8th Street and Iron. Huxoll -- Thelma K. Huxoll, age 87, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, has gone to join her husband Fred A. Huxoll who preceded in death in 1990. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Housley and husband, Dale of Albuquerque, Patricia Northrup and husband, Clarence of Bosque Farms; three grandchildren, Debbie Arrington, Scott Arrington, Robin Trujillo and husband, Jimmie Dale; great-grandchild, Jimmie Dale Trujillo Jr., and many loving friends who supported her during her long illness. Kase -- Edmund H. Kase, Jr., age 93, a resident of Santa Fe for over 35 years, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 10, 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mildred Mote Kase on August 17, 1992 and by his sister, Mabel Cook Faltermayer. Dr. Kase was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 2, 1905. He received his undergraduate degree, Master's, and Ph.D degrees from Princeton University in Princeton, NJ, a Bachelor of Theology degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and an honorary LL.D degree from Rider College in Trenton, NJ. He was pastor at Grove City College in Grove City, PA from 1938 to 1945, professor at Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA from 1945 to 1951, president of Western College for Women in Oxford, OH from 1951 to 1953, editor of mining publications at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro from 1953 to 1958, and New Mexico State Investment Officer from 1958 to 1961. He was an experienced canoeist and camper, an avid bridge player, and a life-long member of Rotary International, having been a member of the Rotary Clubs of Grove City, Chambersburg, Socorro, Santa Fe, and Huntsville, Ontario. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by his son, District Judge Edmund H. (Ted) Kase III and wife, Alice of Socorro, NM; his daughter, Mary Jane Davis and husband, Woods Davis of Ely, MN and Green Valley, AZ; six grandchildren, Woods Davis, Jr. and wife, Laura of Conroe, TX, Adam Kase of San Diego, CA, Judy Kase Cuttone and husband, Joseph of Bernardsville, NJ, Ben Davis and wife, Kim of St. Cloud, MN, Betsy Davis Leustek and husband, Aaran of Ely, MN, and Andrew Davis and wife, Anne of Edina, MN; 11 great-grandchildren, Bill, Tony, Matthew, Thomas, and Mary Davis, Nathan, Nicolette, Patrick, and Preston Leustek, and Alexandra and Andrew Davis; two nephews, Edmund K. Faltermayer and William C. Faltermayer; and one niece, Mary Harrison. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at the Macey Conference Center in Socorro with the Rev. Phil Preston officiating. Interment will be at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia. A memorial service will be held in September at the family cottage in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada where he had many friends and many fond memories. Mckee -- J. Bennie McKee, 81, an Albuquerque resident since 1991, died Tuesday, January 12, 1999. Mr. McKee is survived by his wife, Vennel McKee of Albuquerque, daughters, Kay Jackson and husband Herbert, and Frances McKee, all of Van Horn, TX; son, Daniel McKee of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. Mr. McKee was a member of Berean Baptist Church. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a geophysicist with Mobil Oil Company and later retired from Coastal Oil Co. Mersman -- Olive J. Mersman, 92, a resident of Albuquerque for sixty years, died Monday, January 11, 1999. She was born Olive Blanche Van Laningham on August 30, 1906 in Adair County, MO, the seventh child of Thomas Milroy Van Laningham and Caroline Shott Van Laningham. At the age of four years she was taken into the home of John L. and Lucinda Bozath Jones of Green Castle, MO, who adopted and raised her. Mrs. Mersman graduated from Green Castle High School and North Missouri State Teachers College (now known as Harry S. Truman University) in Kirksville. In high school and college she was an accomplished musician specializing in violin, piano and voice. Mrs. Mersman taught school in the Green Castle area for six years. On March 7, 1930, she was married to Thomas F. Mersman of Green City, MO. They were the parents of one daughter, Martha Carolyn. In 1939, the Mersman family moved to Albuquerque for health reasons. Mrs. Mersman is survived by her daughter, Martha Hill and husband, Hershel; two grandchildren, Hubert H. Hill II and Shawna Lynn Selph and husband, Andrew; two great-grandchildren, Amelia Lynn and Kyrie Marie Selph, all of Albuquerque, and a host of relatives in Missouri and Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband on January 20, 1998. Services will be held Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Glen E. Kent & Son Funeral Home in Green City, MO. Interment will follow at Mt. Morgan -- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Morgan, 65, on Sunday, January 10, 1999. Barbara passed away in her sleep after a sudden illness and short hospital stay. Barbara was born in Fort Worth, Texas on August 18, 1933 and married John Cameron Morgan on September 24, 1949. They had spent 49 wonderful years together and looked forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Lillian Jernigan last October. She is survived by her husband, John Morgan of the family home; daughter, Debra (Dee) Sanchez and husband, Mac of Santa Fe; son, John (Pete) Cameron Morgan, Jr. of Pennsylvania; sister, Ilene Shoemaker, her husband, Jay, and family of Texas, Eugene Perkins, his wife, Inez, and family of Texas; grandchildren, Maggie and Morgan Sanchez, Jenny and Charlotte Morgan, Bryan Sarracino; and a very special niece, Goldie Kay Byrd. Barbara counted many friends as part of her extended family, including Dahlia Tapia and family, Dolores Martinez and family, Bob and Barb Sanchez and family, Dennis and Loraine Sanchez and family, and many other friends too numerous to mention. Barbara was loved by all who knew her and had many friends in New Mexico, Texas, and Pennsylvania. She will be sorely missed by all of her loved ones, but missed most of all by her husband, John. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sharon Munro of the family home; daughters, Chris Munro Zanger and husband, John of Silverspring, Maryland, Margaret"Peggy" Munro Castillo of Albuquerque, and Diane Munro Baca and husband, Ronnie of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Patrick, Kristy Savage, whom he raised, Leslie Ann Webb, Chelsea Baca, and Cherie Zanger; and was to be a great grandfather in June. Ronald was a graduate from Albuquerque High School. He then went into the U.S.M.C. He was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 611 and the American Legion 99. Nagy -- Nicholas Joseph Nagy, 81, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandpa, brother, and friend was called home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 12, 1999."Nick" was born in Toledo, OH on October 4, 1917. He has resided in the Albuquerque-Belen Area since 1952. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Mr. Nagy retired as a federal employee from Kirtland Air Force Base. He was a member of the Community Bible Church of Los Lunas. Mr. Nagy is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Cecilia"Blanche" Nagy of the family home; four children, Nick Nagy and wife, Ann of Los Alamos, tom Nagy and wife, Tish of Los Lunas, Mary Urban and husband, Bill of Los Alamos, and Bob Nagy of Mesa, AZ; nine grandchildren; three and 1/2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Joseph, Stephen and wife, Irene, and Richard and wife, Nancy; and sisters, Mary and Veronica and husband, Ray, all of Toledo, OH. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Marcus Daniel Nagy. Mr. Nagy will be greatly missed by his family. Sandoval -- Mrs. Mary L. Sandoval died unexpectedly at her home in Albuquerque on Tuesday at the age of 76. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren. Mrs. Sandoval is preceded in death by her brother, Juan Lopez. She is survived by her husband, Joe E. Velasquez -- Antonio D. Velasquez, age 86, passed away January 11, in Albuquerque following an illness. Antonio was born March 17, 1912 in Dilia, New Mexico to the home of Hilario Velasquez and Salome Dominguez Velasquez. He was reared and attended schools in Dilia. Antonio worked in local restaurants and worked as a custodian for the Santa Rosa Consolidated Schools until his retirement. He was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Church where he played with the Spanish choir for over 20 years. Antonio was actively involved with Nuestro Padre de Jesus Nazareno as a penitente in La Morada de Santa Rosa. Antonio is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Anna Sandoval Velasquez in 1968, an infant son, Christian Adan Velasquez, great-grandson, Freddy Velasquez, brothers and sisters, Manuel Velasquez, Hilario Velasquez, Pablita Rivera and a son-in-law, Juan Diego Valverde. Survivors include his wife, Vera Velasquez of Santa Rosa; five daughters, Mary Valverde of San Jose, CA, Bertha Pino and husband, Steve, Lollie Lopez and husband, Manuel, Mae Baca and husband, Harold all of Albuquerque, Ida Rivera and husband, Robert of Santa Rosa. A son, Bernie Velasquez of Golden, Colorado. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services were held on Wednesday evening at 7:00 from the Chavez Funeral Home a second rosary will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 from the St. Rose of Lima Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. also from St. Rose Church with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are his grandsons, Dennis Valverde, Mark Pino, Tommy Lopez, Michael Velasquez, Anthony Rivera, and Mario Baca. Wells -- Frank Wells Jr., age 76, passed away January 12, 1999. He retired from the U.S. Army after serving 28 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 99.
