Carlson -- Jay Wells Carlson, born August 24, 1954 in Littleton, Colorado, passed away peacefully in Albuquerque on Thursday, December 16, 1999. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Carl and Elise Carlson. He worked for Southwest Airlines for 15 years, and during that time, served as a supervisor in the operations department. He started at the Albuquerque station in 1984 while he supported his son, Josh, daughter, Lindsey and wife, Joanne, provisioning 737 aircraft. In January of 1993, after two years of hard and dedicated work, Jay earned his private pilot's license in a Cessna 150. In his last year, he became involved with Calvary Church, where he went to study the ministries and learn more about his faith. He was a faithful church goer and spoke of what he learned to those who were important to him. Jay was an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying skiing, hiking and camping with his family and friends. He was a kind and considerate soul who's outgoing nature earned the respect of those who knew him. He is survived by his son, Joshua G. Carlson, daughter-in-law, Moira Carlson and their son, Eric M. Carlson; daughter, Lindsey D. Carlson and her boyfriend, Michael A. Frost, wife, Joanne Carlson, his father-in-law, Henry P. Butscher, mother-in-law, Irene A. Butscher; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and various family members throughout the country, and his lifelong friends from Littleton, Colorado. Now he leaves us to join those who love him in the spiritual world. We all love you Jay and we will miss you. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 21, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, with Mr. Larry Pierson officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jay's name to the National Counsel on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, 148 Washington SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. Davis -- Ray H. Davis, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959, died Friday, December 17, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Marian Jo Davis of the family home; one son, Larry J. Davis and wife, Carrie of El Paso, TX; two daughters, Lillian A. Moon and husband, Danny of Albuquerque and Cindy R. Chasteen and husband, Chris of Roseville, CA; six grandchildren, Karey Howell and husband, Greg, Kristy Peck and husband, Wade, John Davis, Matthew Davis, Cammi Chasteen and Scott Chasteen; three great-grandchildren, Isiah Howell, Noah Howell and Gabriellah Howell; and one sister, Marie Thomas. Mr. Davis had been an Elementary School teacher for 38 years and retired from Albuquerque Public Schools in 1990. He was a longtime active member of Hoffmantown Church, serving as a Deacon and Director of a Senior Adult Sunday School Department. Mr. Davis had also served as a weekly volunteer at Noonday Ministry for the last eight years. Services will be held Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper NE, with Pastor Ken Moore officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Willis Whitfield, Royce Anderson, Bill Hereford, Russ Davis, Ralph Workman and Kyle Williams. Gallant -- CB"KIP" Gallant, 77, a resident of Moriarty, passed away December 15, 1999. He was born to Joseph and Minnie (Gaudet) Gallant, May 8, 1922 in Brockton, MA. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Michelle Gallant of Moriarty, NM; his daughter, Debra Gallant of Albuquerque; and his grandson, Derek."Kip" served in the Navy during WWII and received a Victory and Good Conduct medal. He was a member of the Lions of Moriarty and was the owner of the Frontier Bar for 24 years. A Memorial service will be held December 22, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM, with Father Tony Martinez officiating. Services will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, December 22, 1999 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Child-Rite Adoption Agency, 2008 Rosina St., Santa Fe, NM 87505. Williams -- Vern J. Williams, a resident of Albuquerque since 1964, died Saturday, December 18, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter, Vicky Ann Parker and husband, Alan; sons, John Williams and David Scott Williams and wife, Kathy. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by a son, Robert Williams. He married Margaret Aderhold, February 13, 1943. Mr. Williams retired from the Air Force in 1964 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Williams was a member of Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Services will be held Wednesday, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Pastor Larry Moss officiating. Padilla -- Mrs. Adelina"Lina" Padilla, 58, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on December 15, 1999. Mrs. Padilla was the beloved wife of 36 years to Willie Padilla. She is also survived by her three sons, Alex, Jason and Adam; two sisters, Rosa Montoya and Patsy Chavez and husband, Tito; two brothers, Eugene Padilla and wife, Anna and Larry Padilla and wife, Alice; four grandchildren, Alexus, James, Jason and Dominique; two aunts, Ola Jennings and Luticia Archuleta; mother-in-law, Lucia Padilla; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Padilla was a member of the Catholic Church and a life member of the Altar Society. A Rosary will be recited by Tito and Patsy Chavez, Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW, with visitation at the church after 2:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, 11:00 a.m., at Holy Rosary Church with final viewing at the church from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Stephenson -- Edith Lillian Stephenson, 70, a resident of Albuquerque since 1964, went home to her Lord, Friday, December 17, 1999. She is survived by her loving husband, Paul L. Stephenson and her children, Larry K. Stephenson, Kevin L. Stephenson, Karen L. Stephenson and fiance, Timothy D. Akers, all of Albuquerque; sister, Barbara Erickson of Roseville, CA; a niece, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Stephenson graduated from Roseville Joint Union High School in 1948. She was employed with Southern Pacific Railroad for ten years prior to her marriage to Paul Stephenson in 1958. She was also a charter member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Roseville, CA. Mrs. Stephenson was a brave woman. She always described life and family as"beautiful." She was a loving wife, mother and sister who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
