He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Carl and Elise Carlson. He worked for Southwest Airlines for 15 years, and during that time, served as a supervisor in the operations department. In January of 1993, after two years of hard and dedicated work, Jay earned his private pilot's license in a Cessna 150. In his last year, he became involved with Calvary Church, where he went to study the ministries and learn more about his faith. He was a faithful church goer and spoke of what he learned to those who were important to him. Jay was an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying skiing, hiking and camping with his family and friends. He was a kind and considerate soul who's outgoing nature earned the respect of those who knew him. He is survived by his son, Joshua G. Carlson, daughter-in-law, Moira Carlson and their son, Eric M.
