Romo -- Charlene Dolores Romo passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2000 in the loving care of her husband's fond embrace. Charlene was born March 10, 1949 in Albuquerque, NM to Jesse and Charles"Papo" Sanchez. Charlene met her husband to be when she was ten and Simon was 11 years old. They became childhood sweethearts after Charlene invited him to a Sadie Hawkins dance at Del Norte High School. Charlene then moved to Manzano High School, where she and Simon graduated together in 1966. Charlene and Simon Romo were married on April 16, 1968. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Reggie Romo and wife, Adria of Tucson, AZ, and Roberto Romo of the family home. Charlene had a deep and abiding love for family, friends, and all living creatures. Her husband and children will forever honor and cherish her gift of unconditional love. As Charlene begins a new journey, she will be greatly missed by her parents, Charles and Jesse Sanchez; sister, Dianna Sanchez; brothers, Charles"Boy" Sanchez, Jr. and wife Connie, Gabriel Sanchez and wife, Theresa, and their families; Aunt Priscilla"Mamita" Roybal, and her children, Anna Alee and husband, Victor, Bobby Gonzales and wife, Marianne, Lorainne Hobbs and husband, John, Lydia Gutierrez and husband, Xavier will always remember her special laugh. Charlene grew up admiring her cousin, Carmela Castillo and husband, Max of Denver, CO. Carmela was her"big sister" Charlene is also survived by Aunt Josie Castillo and family, Aunt Ramona Ramirez and family, and Uncle John Toby Sanchez. Mrs. Alice Romo will always remember Charlene as a wonderfully loving daughter-in-law. Richard Romo and wife, Lisa, and their daughter, Lauren and son, R.J. of Albuquerque and Vince Romo, of Dallas, TX, will miss her dearly. The Romos cherish the memory of Charlene's loving sense of humor and compassion. Charlene was preceded in death by her grandmother, Hortencia Roybal and her father-in-law, Napoleon E. Romo. She attended the University of New Mexico along with her husband. While there she participated in progressive causes on behalf of those in need. During this period she made many good friends, especially Romelia Escamilla. Charlene worked for the Veteran's Administration and ultimately made a career with the U.S. Postal Service, where she worked with many friends. Special thanks to her friend, Cathy Curtis for blessing her with the gift of Landmark Education. Thanks to all her former coworkers for their thoughts and prayers. Special thanks to her doctors and nurses. VistaCare Hospice provided comfort for Charlene and her family. This wonderful service enabled Charlene to pass on to the Lord in peace. The comfort they created eased Charlene's suffering and permitted her family to honor her before her passing. Angels do exist. Everyone who knew her will feel the void created by Charlene's absence. We grieve our loss, but more importantly we celebrate her life and the rewards of her trust and unconditional love. Her soul awaits us with infinite patience and love. Cremation has taken place and memorial rosary will be recited Sunday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University NE, with Father Richard McGowan reciting. Funeral memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper NW, with Father Richard McGowan, Celebrant. Lucero -- Mr. Jose Samuel (Sam) Lucero, 72, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on May 2, 2000. Mr. Lucero is survived by his five children, Carlotta Ortiz and husband, Louie, Mr. and Ms. Samuel Lucero Jr., Frank E. Lucero and wife, JoAnne, Carmen Lucero and Alberta Lucero; six grandchildren, Frank E. Lucero Jr., Sam J. Lucero III, Alyssa Victoria Gallegos, Benjamin Ross Ortiz, Clara Angel Torres and Angeline Renee Ortiz; the mother of his children, Victoria Lucero; his beloved companion, Martha Lopez; brothers, Ernest Lucero, Paul Quintana and wife, Ruby, and Jerry Lopez; sisters, Dora Martinez, Irene Duran, Bertha Coca, Elsie Velasquez and Lucy Lopez. Mr. Lucero was preceded in death by his parents, Joaquin and Francesquita; his brothers, Pat Lucero and Joaquin Lopez; and his sister, Margaret Marquez. Mr. Lucero was a member of the Catholic Church, a veteran of U.S. Army and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. He was also employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years, retiring in 1988. All of his grandchildren were the light of his life. A visitation will be Friday evening in the St. Anne Church, 1400 Arenal SW, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. Final visitation will be Saturday morning, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., in the church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Father Thomas Mayefske, Celebrant. Private disposition will take place. Pallbearers will be Frank E. Lucero Jr., Sam Lucero III, Steve Lucero, Alfonso Sanchez, Fernando Ebell and Aldolph G. Wrzesinski -- Sister Mary Amidea Wrzesinksi, 67, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2000 in the Felician Sister's Convent. Sister Amidea served the Lord and His people as a woman religious for 48 years. Of these, she spent 44 years teaching elementary school students in Oklahoma, Nebraska and Texas. For 13 of those years she was both principal and teacher. During the final year of her life, Sister Amidea tutored elementary students at St. Felix Pantry in Rio Rancho. She is fondly remembered by those she taught and worked with as an excellent and dedicated educator. She was generous with her time, possessed a great sense of humor, and faced difficulties with determination and patience. Sister Amidea was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas Wrzesinski and Josephine Syzdek Wrzesinski; a sister, Sister Mary Josetta Wrzesinski, also a Felician Sister; and two brothers, Albert and Simon Wrzesinski. She is survived by two sisters, Julia Lehoski of Pearland, Texas and Mary Johnston of Bedford, Texas; four brothers, Stash Wrezesinski of Ft. Worth, Texas, Ted Wrzesinski of Berwyn, Illinois, Roman Wrzesinski of Ft. Worth, Texas and Johnny Wrzesinski of Waxahachie, Texas. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho, today, Friday, April 28, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Cecil Kleber, OFM as the celebrant. Vigil -- Carlota J. Vigil, age 84, died on April 13, 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe C. Vigil; and three sons, Simon, Freddie, and Ronnie Vigil. Mrs. Vigil is survived by her son, Benjamin Vigil; her daughter, Annie Chavez and husband, Leo; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; brother, Phil Martinez and wife, Avoria; and a number of nieces and nephews in California. Mrs. Vigil was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Funeral services were held on Monday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial took place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fernando Vigil, Anthony Chavez, Miguel Aragon, Johnny Ray Barela and Diego L. Lucero and Marcos Chavez. Honorary pallbearers were Leo Chavez, Vincent Chavez, Johnny Lucero, Martin Sanchez, Adam Aragon, Adrian rmijo and Enrique Quesada. The family of Mrs. Vigil wishes to thank all their relatives and friends who were in attendance of the Rosary and Funeral services.
