MARTINEZ, ESTELLA Estella U. Martinez, age 89, passed away peacefully with her husband Joe by her side on January 3, at the Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa. Stella was born on January 25, 1925 in Colonias, NM to the home of Federico and Maria Modesta (Olivas) Ulibarri. She was reared and attended schools in Colonias and Santa Rosa. She Married Jose Alcario Martinez on June 10, 1959 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Stella worked as a waitress in several restaurants and also as a receptionist for an Optometrist until she retired in 2005. She and her husband Joe were faithful members of St. Rose of Lima Parish where they both served on the Choirand Eucharistic Ministers for the shut ins, she was a member of the St. Anne's Sodality, St. Rose Altar Society, Sisters of St. Joseph Associate and Las Hijas de Maria as well as being involved in the Cursillo Movement. She enjoyed attending Bible Classes with the Sisters of St. Joseph, cooking, making tamales and empanadas during the holidays, baking homemade bread and was very popular for her casseroles. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Isabel Ulibarri, Mela (Ulibarri) Bonney, her brothers Ramon Ulibarri and Jose C. Ulibarri. Survivors include her devoted husband Jose A. Martinez of Santa Rosa, her sister Maria Magdalena Romero of Albuquerque and her brother Frank Eloy Ulibarri and wife Viola of Albuquerque. Rosary services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, at 10:00 AM from St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the rosary with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Paul Griego, Javier Urban, Patrick Martinez, Gilbert Ulibarri, Tony Ulibarri, Phillip Romero, Curt Flores, Gilbert Campos, Juliana Ortiz and Annalisa Ortiz. ENCINIAS, MICHAEL E. Age 55, was born on August 18, 1959 in Las Vegas, NM and passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014 in Albuquerque, NM. Mike enjoyed traveling, concerts, WWE, spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was a devoted Catholic, CDL truck driver and a Navy Veteran of four years. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Bernardino B. Encinias. He is survived by his daughters, Felicia Encinias (Michael), Nadine Encinias (Judah); one grandson, Diego; three granddaughters, Avea, Arianna and Sophia; mother, Alice Encinias; best friend, Diane Encinias; two sisters, Sylvia Abeyta and Antonia Romero; three brothers, Tomas Encinias(Janette), Bernardino Encinias, Jr., and Rudy Encinias; one nephew, Tony Abeyta, Jr.; five nieces, Michelle Richards, Holly Encinias, Alicia Romero, Ashley Encinias and Sonya Sisneros; several great nieces and nephews as well as many other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. LOPEZ, MARTIN Age 65, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in Albuquerque, NM with his family by his side. He was born in Magdalena, NM on July 11, 1949, to Miguel and Mariana Otero Lopez. Martin grew up in Magdalena and graduated from Magdalena High School. He has been employed for the past 35 years for the National Radio Astronomy Observatory. Martin enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, playing horseshoes, camping and especially loved spending time with his family and the hunting trips they used to take together. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and his family always came first ahead of everything else. Martin will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Joey Lopez. Martin is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Josie Simish Lopez; his sons, Tony Lopez and wife, Debra, Mike Lopez and wife, Kim, and Andy Lopez; grandchildren: Antoinette, Lane, Isaac, Adam, Mathew and Drew; and a great granddaughter, Reighlyn. The Holy Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 9:30 am and the Mass of Resurrection will be at 10:00 am, both at the San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro with Father Andrew Pavlak as Celebrant. MARTINEZ, HENRY "HANK" Age 91, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 in his family's home. He was born in Algodones, NM, on April 12, 1923, to Pedro and Elvira Martinez. Henry was a WWII veteran, cabinet maker by trade and a member and an usher of the Catholic Church Holy Name Society. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Tony Martinez, Daniel Martinez, Joe Martinez, and Alice Griego. Henry is survived by his wife, Mary Martinez; children Robert Martinez and Yolanda Beltran, Rosella Martinez and late husband Luther, Rudy David Martinez and wife Margarita, Tina Cisneros and husband Leon, Ron Martinez and wife Loretta, Pete Martinez and wife Haydee, and Ruth Martinez and Larry Juarez; grandchildren; Brenda, Bridgette, Robert, Chris, Tammy, Jennifer, David, Angela, Danny, Gabriel, Roman, Lisa, Rosemary and Michelle; twenty six great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister, Virginia Gabalbon; and many nieces and nephews. VIGIL JR., MANUEL "TONY" Age 71, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014 with his family and friends by his side. He was born in Santa Cruz, NM on January 3, 1943, to Manuel and Carmelita Vigil. He graduated from Santa Cruz High School and was a parts manager for thirty four years. Tony's hobbies were camping, fishing, drag racing and he enjoyed spending time with this family. He was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Sam Vigil, Emilio Vigil and Manuel Vigil, Lucita King, nephew; Allen King, Ben Maestas. Tony is survived by his wife of fifty four years Olimpia Vigil; children Manuel A. Vigil and his wife Debbie,Veronica Baca and husband Ken; siblings, Jose Vigil and Esther, Rose Martinez and Eppie, Alice Gallegos and Robert, Isabel Torres and Mary Montoya; grandchildren Michelle, Nick, Nolan and Garrett. The family would like to give a special thanks to all of the staff at Kindred Hospital and all the amazing doctors that helped Tony over the years and to all of the staff at Northside Fresenius Dialysis Clinic for all their special care over the years. Tony was a humble man who never spoke a bad word about anyone and he will be greatly missed by all that knew him. ARAGON, FIDEL A. Age 77, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 and was a life-long resident of Los Lunas, NM. Fidel loved his family with all his heart. Fidel is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Sylvia; his five loving children, Donald Aragon, Ronald Aragon and wife, Dorothy, Jeff Aragon, Julie Smith and husband, Bryan, Jimmy Aragon and wife, Monica; five grandchildren, whom he loved and spoiled, Jennifer Van Otten and husband, Randy, Jessica and Janelle Smith, Eric and Isaiah Aragon; five great-grandchildren, the joys of his life, Joshua Smith, Alijah, Ezra, Aislynn and Eyan VanOtten; his sister, Beatrice Sais; brothers, Rafael Aragon Jr., Pat Aragon and wife, JoAnn; sister in law, Aurelia Aragon; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Fidel was preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Dolores (Madrid) Aragon; sisters, Lucy Wortman and husband, Henry, Olie Sanchez, and husband, Tony; brother, Joseph V. Aragon, his grandmother, who raised him, Modesta Madrid; his step mother, Lita Aragon; brother in law, Arthur Sais; and sister in law, Pauline Aragon. Fidel retired from Beneficial Finance Corp. in 1998 after 33 years of dedicated service. He was a life-long member of San Clemente Parish, served several years with the Belen National Guard, was a 12 year member of the Los Lunas School Board and along with the Belen School Board was instrumental in the establishment and construction of UNM Valencia Campus. He was a charter member of the Belen Elks Lodge a member of the Belen Moose Lodge and a strong Republican. He enjoyed spending time with his family, visiting with his brothers and sisters and listening to native New Mexico and Mariachi music. Fidel graduated in 1955 from Los Lunas High School and was a star athlete in football, baseball and basketball. Visitation will be Thursday, January 01, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at San Clemente Catholic Church, 244 Luna Ave., Los Lunas, NM with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Final visitation will be Friday, January 2, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Father Jim Marshall, presider. ARMIJO, ESEQUIEL "ZEKE" B. Age 88, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 in Socorro, NM. He was born on the family farm in Las Palomas, NM on August 19, 1926, to Manfor and Carlota Baca Armijo. When Zeke was young, he and his family moved to Truth or Consequences, NM. He graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1944 and went on to attend New Mexico State University where he graduated in 1948. Zeke married Soila Apodaca in 1952 and they moved to Socorro in 1957. He was the Socorro County Extension Agent for the State of New Mexico until he retired in 1982. He taught countless Socorro County youth through the 4-H program and was inducted into the New Mexico 4-H Hall of Fame. Zeke began ranching soon after he moved to Socorro and this was truly his passion. He managed the family ranch for nearly 50 years until his passing. A devoted father and grandfather, Zeke will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his children, Marcy and Dan Armijo; and his brother, Belsan Armijo. Zeke is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Soila Apodaca Armijo; his son, Jerry Armijo and wife, Lillian; his grandchildren, Madalyn, John and Joseph Armijo. The Holy Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 8:30 am at the San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro with the Mass of Resurrection to follow at 9:00 am.
