HEUSTESS, DONNA RAYNA EIDSON Donna Rayna Eidson Heustess, 68, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014 after a decades-long battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Donna was born in Albuquerque, NM on May 25, 1946 to Robert "Bob" H. Eidson (deceased) and Mary Arvell Eidson of Albuquerque. Donna was a graduate of Valley High School in Albuquerque, of which she was very proud to have been a Viking. Donna was proud of her job as a technical fabricator at EE&G Energy Measurements Division in Albuquerque, where she worked for 15+ years until she was forced to retire on disability in 1991 because of MS related issues. Donna was an active amateur radio operator (mostly vhf) until her retirement in 1991 and held the call sign WB5GFC. Donna is survived by her husband, James "Ellis" Heustess, of Albuquerque and one daughter, Lori Lynn Heustess, of Missouri City, TX. Donna and Ellis were married in Albuquerque on December 25, 1963 and almost made it to 51 years together. Donna often joked that Ellis should not ever forget their anniversary. Donna became a very private person upon her retirement and should be remembered for her endurance as a super fighter of MS, and her continued unlimited endurance without ever complaining about her many struggles with MS, even up to and including her final days. Donna requested cremation and preferred that there not be any formal memorial services. Donna and her family would want those that knew her to remember her in your prayers and to know that she has finally escaped the wrath of MS and is now resting in peace. In lieu of flowers, if family or friends would like to make a donation in her name, Donna would be proud that they be made to Grace Adult Care Homes, LLC where she spent the majority of her last 21 months care of 7100 Carriage Road NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109, or by calling (505) 888-4434, or to Presbyterian Hospice where she was cared for during both Hospice Care and Palliative Care 8100 Constitution Place NE #400, Albuquerque, NM 87110, 505-559-6068. HOMET, MARY Remember to laugh every day, especially on this day, New Year's Day, which would have been her 74th birthday; that is what Mary Homet would want us to do. Every day a celebration of something: the joy of music, the delight of food, the whimsy of creating, the beauty of decorating, the reward of gardening, the adventure of books or the freedom of cursing (which she was trying to quit). And so we set forth, to enjoy this life we have, with the echo of her laughter in our hearts: her daughter, Heather, her son-in-law, George, and her grandson, the apple of her eye, Ryan. Mary set an admirable example for us as an independent, strong woman, who pursued a lifelong career in Occupational Therapy, pioneering new ground in the Side-by-Side Program at McCollum Elementary School. She was a fierce advocate for her students and delighted in seeing them years later working and thriving in the community. In her retirement, she enjoyed continuing her lifelong love of playing the piano, quilting and crafting, traveling to Paris, making new friends and cherishing ones from her childhood in Hermosa Beach, learning yoga and Tai Chi and continuing her lifelong love affair with butter (never once cheating with margarine). Though she is gone since December 18, 2014, her passion for life remains strong in the memories of those she loved. We know she is laughing as she reads this and perhaps dancing the tango, finally, or at least watching a better final episode of Dancing with the Stars. In lieu of flowers, which she loved, but didn't really like receiving, she asked that memorial donations be made to the National Down Syndrome Society (www.ndss.org) as a continuing gift to the children who gave her years of joy.

MCCOURT, LAFAYE A. A wonderful life spanning almost 88 years has ended with the December 29, 2014 passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother LaFaye Arlene McCourt. Born in 1927, LaFaye was the fourth of the five children of Flossie and Raymond Newman who farmed in Wagner, South Dakota. Being people from simple backgrounds, they taught their children basic family values and to live according to the highest of moral standards. LaFaye and her siblings, younger brother Lincoln and elder sisters Fern, DeElda and Thelma did exactly that throughout their lives, which encompassed the difficult period of the Great Depression and the devastation of World War II. LaFaye was an active and happy child growing up on the farm and she would later tell stories about walking four miles through the snow to school with drifts "up to the roof of the barn." She grew into a beautiful young woman and was a cheerleader at Wager High. After graduating in 1945 she moved to Denver with her parents who had left farming and opened a general store. The following year, a handsome young soldier named Robert McCourt who had been fighting with the 63rd Infantry Division through France and Germany came home to Denver, one of the many heroes of that generation. LaFaye and "Bobbie" met and of course, fell in love and married in 1950. Their family began to grow in 1951 with the arrival of Vicki, followed by Kevin in 1954. Robert, employed by Greyhound Lines, was transferred to Albuquerque in 1962 where Heidi was born that same year. The family prospered and with the passing of years came daughter Vicki's marriage to Jerry Velasquez in 1970 and then the first grandchildren, Candise and Stephanie, who Bob and LaFaye loved to spoil. Heidi would marry Chris Lanes in 1990 and finally Kevin found love in Africa and brought his beautiful Ethiopian bride Amsale home in Albuquerque in 1994. This pair would present Bob and LaFaye three more grandchildren, Ryan, Robert, and Collette, who she was always happy to care for and even initiated their participation in youth soccer. Great-grandchildren followed in recent years when Stephanie married Ben Johnson of Chandler Arizona, and then brought Janelle and Jace into the world. During the 70's and 80's LaFaye volunteered as a pole worker during elections and then during their retirement years, she and Bob travelled often, especially to tropical locals such as Tahiti and several times to the Caribbean and Mexican Riviera. But they were most happy when they took along the grand kids, who now cherish those wonderful memories. In early 2013 LaFaye's dear husband of 63 years, Robert passed away at age 89. She lived her remaining days happily cared for be the staff of 'Hilldale House Assisted Living' and by her devoted children Vicki, who often travelled from Phoenix to be with her, Kevin and especially Heidi who was seemingly always by her side. LaFaye's cremation will be provided by Daniels Family Funeral Services.

STAMM, ROBERT JENNE A life well-lived has come to an end. Robert Jenne Stamm died December 14, 2014, at age 93. Bob was a life-long resident of Albuquerque, where he spent his adult life working to enrich his city and state. He was born November 17, 1921 to Roy Allen Stamm and Elizabeth Baldridge Stamm, whose families moved to New Mexico in the early 1880s. His older brothers, Allen Stamm and William Stamm, predeceased him. Bob was interested in everything and everyone. He relished all good deeds, fair play, and achievements. Bob was a man of few words, but of tireless action and service. He was amazingly calm, yet he loved competition, whether it was playing tennis, skiing, poker, or bidding a job. It should be noted, however, that there was no win unless it was "fair and square." He played golf, but mostly because it was outside and he could bet on it. From the age of 10, Bob had a tennis racket in his hand. In high school, he never lost a singles match and was a four-time State champion. At UNM, he was on the tennis and track teams, and on the first UNM Ski Team. UNM has lost its most devoted fan. He was still attending Lobo games. He went in a wheelchair to his last Lobo basketball game on December 3, 2014. Bob earned his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from UNM in 1942. After college, he joined the Navy and attended the Naval Academy Graduate Architectural School. He served four years in WWII, including 22 months on a ship in the South Pacific. He continued in the Naval Reserves and retired with the rank of Commander USN in 1968. In 1943, he married his childhood sweetheart, Florence Bradbury. After the war, he went to work for her father, OG Bradbury, in his construction company. Bob began as a laborer, and then was a timekeeper, an estimator, and eventually President of Bradbury Stamm Construction Co. He has been Chairman Emeritus since 1999. Bob was immensely proud of the many major buildings BSC built over the years. New Mexico Private 100 awarded BSC "Most Admired Company" seven times. Bob was a builder to his core. He loved seeing buildings and communities grow. He was a believer that people working together can do great things. He served on more than 30 professional and civic organizations throughout his career, which include, most notably: Albuquerque Community Foundation Lifetime Trustee, Albuquerque Business Education Compact Founding Chairman, UNM Development Fund Chairman, Greater Albuquerque Community Educational Alliance Founding Chairman, and on the New Mexico Commission on Higher Education, where he served 11 years by appointment of four Governors. Bob was honored with more than 25 awards for service in the fields of education, business, arts, and civic development, which include, most notably: "UNM Regents Recognition Medal", "UNM Engineer of the Year," by the Albuquerque Chapter of the New Mexico Society of Professional Engineers, the State of NM "Lifetime Achievement, Distinguished Public Service Award", the "Centennial Alumnus for UNM," by the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges, State of New Mexico's "Outstanding Leader in Philanthropy", UNM Engineering's Distinguished Alumnus Award", UNM's "Zimmerman Award", State of New Mexico's "Ethics in Business, Individual Award", United Way of Central New Mexico's "Lifetime Achievement Award", and Leadership New Mexico's "Distinguished Leadership Award". In 2009, Bob received an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering from UNM. He was blessed with a wonderful marriage to Florrie for 63 years until her death in 2006. He was blessed again when he married Mary Culver Herring in 2009, to the delight of his children and friends. Mary was by his side until his death. Bob's family who survive him are: son, Dr. R. Brad Stamm and wife, Victoria Stamm; daughter, Susan Stamm Evans and husband, Dick Evans all of Santa Fe; his wife, Mary Herring, and her children and their families: Denny and Tonya Herring, Bill and Cheri Herring, Nancy Herring and Matthew Segura, and John and Debra Herring all of Albuquerque; his grandchildren, Monique and Mark Rochester of Nambe, Karen Evans and Lisa Marchese of Albuquerque, and Kate and Eric Schwarz of Scottsdale, AZ; great grandchildren: Chase Rochester, Zoe and Sasha Evans, and Sarah Schwarz. Bob was a total family man. Whether it was his children, their spouses, their children, nieces, nephews, stepchildren, or their children, he took a personal interest in each of them and was interested in their interests. The family would like to thank Bob's devoted caregivers from TakeCare. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to his professorships in advanced design and construction practices at UNM, care of Robert J. WOMACK, JAMES EDWIN James Edwin Womack, a resident of Albuquerque for over 55 years, passed away peacefully at his home on December 20, 2014. Jim was a fighter pilot and attorney at law, who lived a life of 82 years, and cut a wide swath. Born in Carlsbad, New Mexico on September 20, 1932, he grew up with cowboys on his father's ranches, and graduated high school from Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio, Texas, enrolling at the age of 11. Jim met the love of his life at 17, and married Jeannie Crowe in 1953, the same day he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force. After serving as an F-86 fighter pilot in after-war Korea, and then Japan, Jim and Jeannie made their life in Albuquerque, where Jim completed his Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctor at the University of New Mexico in 1961. He was a founding member of the UNM Law Review and clerked for the NM District Court and NM Supreme Court. While attending UNM, Jim joined the New Mexico Air National Guard, and was a proud member of the 188th Tactical Fighter Squadron and the 150th Tactical Fighter Group. He flew the F-80, F-100 and A-7 with the "Tacos" for over 30 years, and deployed as part of a one-year combat tour in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Silver Star for his valor. He was known throughout his Guard career as "Schultz" - a callsign he received on his first cross-country with the unit. Jim "Schultz" Womack flew single-seat, single engine fighter aircraft until he retired in December of 1987. He held many command positions, retiring as Chief of Staff for the NMANG, with the rank of Brigadier General, which he wore as a mission-ready pilot for over five years. In addition to his Guard career, Jim actively practiced law in Albuquerque as a business and real estate attorney for 34 years, retiring from his practice in 1995. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Carroll L. Womack, MD; loving wife Jeannie C. Womack; brother, Carroll L. Womack II; and beloved son, James E. Wommack II.
