CHRISTMAN, ROBERT C. On December 18, 2014 friends and family of Robert "Bob" Christman bid a fond farewell to a true legend after he passed away from complications due to a heart attack. Bob was born in 1940 in Pennsylvania and worked for 35 years in New Jersey. In 1962, Bob and Melanie Beekman were married and had three wonderful children - Kelly, 51, (resides in South Carolina and is married to Thomas Donovan,III), Rob, 50, (resides in Colorado) and Laurie, 47, (resides in North Carolina and is married to Mike Sabik). In addition, four grandchildren - Emma and Maggie Sabik (Albuquerque) and Bryan and Kyle Donovan (Philadelphia) and several furry canine kids rounded out the family. Bob and Melanie moved to Albuquerque in 1996 and Bob's true claim to fame came in April of 1998. A local builder was going to construct townhomes in a vacant lot next to the Christman's home. Bob walked over and within 15 minutes convinced the builder that a neighborhood park would be a much better investment. The deal was sealed with a handshake and even though it is officially named "Jackson Park" everyone refers to it as "Bob's park". Bob spent countless hours maintaining the grounds and could often be seen conversing with county workers and giving them advice and helpful hints on how things "should be done". Bob even convinced the County to build an official Bocce court so that he could continue to play the game that he learned to love from growing up on the East coast. Bob leaves behind many, many friends and acquaintances and the family has honored his wishes of a cremation and no services. In lieu of flowers donations may be given in Robert's honor toSt. Jude Children's Research www.tg.stjude.org/stjude or Animal Humane Society of New Mexico animalhumanenm.org or to charity of one's choice. To share memories with the family please visit Robert's memorial webpage at www.danielsfuneral.com Daniels Family Funeral Services 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87109 505-821-0010
