GOTTI -- Richard James Gotti, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, December 24, 2007, of natural causes. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Irene M. Gotti; children, Dr. Phyllis Floyd and husband, Eric Nelson and their children, Nick and Kendra Floyd; Patrina D. Smith and husband, Randall, and their daughter, Allison; Paul R. Gotti and wife, Stacy, and their daughter, Carlee. Mr. Gotti volunteered for World War II and served in Europe as a Combat Medic with the 11th Armored Division, he was honored with the Silver Star medal. Mr. Gotti resided in Los Alamos for 46 years before moving to Albuquerque in 1997. He was employed by the University of California Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. He was a group leader in the accounting department. Mr. Gotti was active in the Los Alamos community having been involved with the founding of the Del Norte Credit Union as a charter member and serving as its first supervisory chairman. He was also involved with the establishment of the Los Alamos Elks Lodge and served as the first Exalted Ruler as well as serving as a trustee for 5 years, a chaplain one year and as ritual coach for 14 years. He served a second term as Exalted Ruler in 1994/1995. Mr. Gotti also served as a board member and treasurer of the Timber Ridge Home Owners Association for seven years. While employed by the university, Mr. Gotti was a member of the International Systems and Procedures Association. Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 28, 2007, 8:30 a.m., at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel NE. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. PICCININI -- Betty M. (MCDowell) Piccinini, a resident of Socorro, NM since 1946, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2007 in Belen, NM. She was born in Huntington, WV on June 19, 1925 to Thomas E. and Alvah (Walker) McDowell. In 1942, her family moved to Grand Rapids, MI where, after graduating from Central High School, she worked for the Michigan Bell Telephone Company. When the family moved to El Paso, TX, she worked for the Banker's Life Insurance Company until her marriage on October 2, 1945 to Michael Piccinini of Albuquerque, NM. In January 1946, the couple moved to Socorro. Betty lived an active life managing the family's rental properties until they were sold in 1990. She was co-owner/manager with Mike of the Ben Franklin Variety Store on the Plaza until it closed in 1975. Betty was a deacon and long time member of the First Presbyterian Church. During her children's young years, she co-led a Cub Scout Troop with Ginnie Mendenhall and a Girl Scout Troop with Mary Lou Hudgins. Betty was a outdoors woman who loved the town and the landscape of the area. She and Mike enjoyed trail riding by horseback in the mountains of northern New Mexico and Colorado. Over the years, she cherished walking her faithful dalmatian and shelties. Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 55 1/2 years, Michael; sister, Dorothy M. Kuri; and brothers: Robert R. and Jack W. McDowell. She is survived by her son, William M. Piccinini and wife, Stella of Socorro; daughter, Debra D. Nelson and husband, Command Sergeant Major (ret.) Edwin B. Nelson Jr. of Fort Walton Beach, FL; and her brother, Thomas W. McDowell of Columbus, OH. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Socorro with Rev. John Gregg officiating. STEARNS -- ROBERT JAMES Maj. Robert James Stearns (US Army retired) died Sunday, December 2, 2007, at Albuquerque Heights Nursing Home. Robert was recently preceded in death by his loving wife, Dolene in May of this year; and is survived by his daughter, Anita Valente of Albuquerque; son, James Stearns of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Carrie Nelson of Albuquerque, Ginny Stearns of Hawaii, Cara Valente-Compton of Albuquerque, Vic Valente of Ardmore, OK, and David Valente of Alpharetta, GA; and six great-grandchildren who loved the way he wiggled his ears. Robert was born in Edmore, ND on July 13, 1921. He met his wife Dolene (Lee) while working on her brother-in-law's farm and they married a short time later, on October 5, 1941. Robert was a decorated Ordinance officer, having fought bravely in the European theater during WWII and in the Korean conflict. He was awarded two Bronze Stars for his brave service to our nation. After retiring from the military Bob and Lee spent nearly every day of their lives together, and enjoyed traveling the country, and settling in Edgewood, NM. Bob was known for his patriotism, love of a good joke, Snicker's bars, his Norwegian heritage and for his tremendous generosity. He was also a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Shriners, and the VFW. LAMKIN -- Clovis Paul Lamkin "Bud", was born December 1, 1924 on a farm near Holland, MO. He passed away November 25, 2007. Bud was a Veteran of WWII and in 1946 he came to Albuquerque. He worked for New Mexico Steel Company for 50 years until his retirement. Bud is survived by his wife, Mava; daughter, Patricia and husband Bill Nelson; son, Lloyd and wife Isabelle; daughter, Kathy; two grandsons, Jeffrey and Marc; two sisters; one brother; other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Cremation has taken place. MAYES -- Mildred Josephine Mayes, 86, a resident of New Mexico for the past 47 years, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2007. Mildred was born July 28, 1921 the daughter of Lloyd G. and Grace Ella Dean Melcum in Keystone Township, Kansas. She was a founding member of the First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho, and the American Business Women's Association, of which she was 'Woman of the Year' in 1976. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Mayes. She is survived by three children, Mary Nelson of Ft. Worth, TX, Darla Mornhinweg and husband, Larry of San Jose, CA, and Dennis Mayes and wife, Debra of Corrales, NM; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Earl Melcum and wife, Winnie of Sun City, CA. No services are scheduled at this time. JACOBS -- Jerry Jacobs, 66, a resident of Albuquerque for over 40 years, passed away Monday, November 12, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Debra Edingfield; two daughters, Julie MacCluskey and husband, Joel, of Englewood, CO, and Jennifer Nelson and husband, Andy, of Centennial, CO; granddaughters, Haley and Abby Nelson; step-daughters, Erin Atkin and husband, Matt, of Yelm, WA and Erica Engelhardt of Oceanside, CA; mother, Ina Mae Jacobs of McKinney, TX; brother, Joe Jacobs and wife, Kathy, of Dallas, TX; sister, Jan Harris and husband, Jed of McKinney, TX; and numerous other relatives and friends. Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Paul Jacobs. He was born on July 28, 1941 in Eunice, LA. Jerry graduated from high school in Ozona, TX and received his Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree from UNM. He was the owner of Pill Box Pharmacy in Albuquerque. Jerry was involved in numerous productions with ACLOA, Opera Southwest, the New Mexicords, Quintessence and Fanfare. He was also very active in his church and church choir at St. Michael's Episcopal Church and also sang in the choir at Monte Vista Christian Church. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. SISNEROS -- Herman C. Sisneros, age 48, a life-long resident of New Mexico, and resident of Los Chavez, NM, for the past 13 years, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2007. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, where he and his wife Gloria were involved in marriage enrichment. Herman retired from Ethicon J&J after many years of dedicated service, where he made countless friends. After retiring he started his own successful heating and cooling business, Arrow Heating in Belen, NM. Among his favorite hobbies were barbequing, playing golf, going on jeep rides and most of all, spending time with his family. Herman was a kind hearted, generous, dependable, loving man with a wonderful sense of humor. He could make anyone laugh at any moment. Herman will be greatly missed by his immediate and extended family and all the lives he has touched. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Nelson, who passed away January 3, 1990, age 11. Herman is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Gloria Sisneros; son, Christopher Sisneros of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Francesca and Vanessa Sisneros, both of the family home; parents, Eliseo and Ernestina Sisneros of Abo, NM; seven brothers, Genaro Sisneros, Leroy Sisneros and his wife, Vivian, all of Albuquerque, NM; Andrew Sisneros and Robert Sisneros, both of Casa Colorada, NM; John Sisneros of Abo, Gabriel Sisneros and his wife, Yvonne of Belen, and Mario Sisneros and his wife, Maria of Mountainair, NM; and sister, Marian Gallegos and her husband, Al of Peralta, NM. He is also survived by many loving uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, beginning with a visitation on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. and a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 8:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Abo Cemetery.
