BERKSHIRE -- Gary Oberg Berkshire, 51, passed Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Anna Kaseman Hospice in Albuquerque after bravely struggling a grave illness. His beloved family was at his side. Gary was born on January 15, 1956 in Glendale, California. The family returned home to New Mexico shortly afterward, and rented a ranch near Yeso, where Gary spent his first years in school. Later the family moved to his grandfather Homer Berkshire's ranch in Estancia. He attended Highland High School in Albuquerque, then transferred to the New Mexico Military Academy in Roswell, graduating in 1974. Gary's beloved professional activities centered on ranching and horsemanship, including rodeo competition. He was a lifelong member of the New Mexico Cutting Horse Association and served as its president in the mid-1980's. In the recent years, he managed the Berkshire Ranch in Estancia until his illness progressed too far. He briefly resided in Clovis before returning to the family home in Albuquerque, where his mother lives. Gary was preceded in death by his beloved father, Alfred Oberg, a World War II veteran pilot and a prominent New Mexico rancher and political figure. Gary is survived by his wonderfully loving and supportive mother, Evelyn Jane Berkshire Oberg of Albuquerque; his daughter Janell Oberg and granddaughter Rainy of Lyndon, Washington; his son Kyle Berkshire of Albuquerque; his brothers Mike Oberg of Gallegos Ranch, Logan, and Pat Oberg of Elephant Butte, and their families; along with numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces, and special friends. Pall Bearers will be Paul Oberg, Shane Oberg, Travis Oberg, Packy Vaughn, Charlie Chavez and Bill Harvey. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Chavez, Alfredo Chavez, Brett Johnson, Jim Oberg, and Bobby Butler. A Visitation and Viewing will be held on Sunday, December 30th from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 p.m. at the Palm Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, 1100 Coal Ave SE. BRASSEUR -- Oscar J. Brasseur, 81, of Evansville, formerly from Vincennes, died Thursday, December 20, 2007, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He retired in 1982 after 35 years of service from FW Means-ARA Services in various management positions. He is survived by three children, Dr. Judith Brassseur-Overhoff and husband, Ben of Chico, CA, Susan Neuendorf and husband, Gib of Terre Haute, and Gregory Brasseur and wife, Pam of Evansville; a grandson, Justin Brasseur and wife, Janelle of Albuquerque, NM; a sister, Karen Owens and husband, Chuck of Vincennes; brothers, David Brasseur of Crane, IN, and Mark Brasseur and wife, Nancy of Vincennes; step-grandchildren, Jennifer Neuendorf-Hall, Ken Neuendorf, Karen, Katie, and Nic Neuton; and several nieces and nephews. Oscar was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy (Pipher) Brasseur of 44 years, his wife Betty Williams-Brasseur of 3 years, and his brother, James Brasseur. Oscar will be remembered as a loving father and proud-to-be-grandparent to Justin Brasseur, Jennifer Neuendorf-Hall, Kenneth Neuendorf, Karen, Katie, and Nic Newton. He loved hunting and fishing with his brothers and good friend, Earl Webber. He was and avid Bobby Knight IU basketball fan. He loved his dogs, Lady, Jackie, Amber Joy, and Missy and deeply requested in lieu of flowers a memorial contribution be made to your local Humane Society. BROWN -- Rev. Robert J. Brown, 81, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on December 27, 2007. He was born July 29, 1926, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He came to know and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at Grace Church in Albuquerque. Bob pastored Berean Baptist Church in Santa Fe, NM and was Chaplain of the New Mexico State Penitentiary from 1947 to 1959 when he answered God's calling to be a missionary for more than forty years to the Huichol Indians in Jalisco and Nayarit, Mexico. He was interim pastor for Albuquerque Bible Church for one year. His life mission was sharing the Gospel to all who would listen. Preaching the Gospel was his passion. Bob was the most selfless, loving and giving example of God's love. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert G. Brown; his mother, Clorinda Brown; five of his brothers and sisters, and two grandchildren. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Gloria Jean Brown; his children, Paul Brown, Ruth Aubert and husband, Enrique, Lois Guffey and husband, Acie, Esther Aubert and husband Salvador; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; as well as his two sisters, Louisa Dimas, and Josie Savage and husband, Dave. CHAVEZ -- Angel "Simon" Chavez, age 70, a resident of Los Lunas, NM, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2007. He was a member of El Cerro Mission Baptist Church where he would volunteer on several church projects. Angel loved the outdoors. He was well known for the love of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Angel was very invaluable and instrumental in raising all of them. He always attended his grandchildren's sporting activities. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Herlinda Chavez; his parents, Senovio and Candelaria Chavez; and his brother, Richard Chavez. Angel is survived by his six loving children, Mary Mendez, Loretta Chavez, Lucy Chavez-Tapia and her husband, Steven, Angel Chavez, Jr. and his wife, Annie, Betty Lou Gonzales and her husband, Hans and Martha Santiago; 12 grandchildren, Steven, Donald, Benjie, Joseph, Tommy Jr., Nicole, Roxanne, Alfred Jr., Denise, Desiree, Alyssa and April; 14 great-grandchildren, six brothers; and four sisters. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. CHAVEZ -- Fulgencia (Fugie) Chavez, age 96, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, went home to be with Lord, Tuesday, December 25, 2007. She was a resident of Albuquerque and a member of the Catholic Community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Catarino Chavez; and by a son, Fred Chavez. Fugie is survived by her loving children, Juanita Gonzales; Charlie Chavez and wife, Gina; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Vigil and Mickie Apodaca; and other family members and friends. Fugie will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. COCHRANE -- Albert Willesly Cochrane, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, December 24, 2007. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Barbara; sons, Alan and Albert of Sacramento, CA; and daughter-in-law, Arlene; five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; three nephews; two best friends, "Ace" and "Chip" and a host of friends around the world. Al was born in New York City, NY, on March 29, 1929 to the late Alberto and Marjorie Benjamin Cochrane. He entered the US Air Force in 1948. After completing 25 years of service, he retired in 1973, from Kirtland Air Force Base. Al served a tour of duty in Vietnam and was stationed in England and various bases around the world. After retirement, Al continued to work as an auto mechanic at the Auto Hobby Shop and as a movie projectionist at the movie theater on base. Al married Barbara Lee Coleman on December 22, 1965 and had just celebrated their 42nd anniversary. Al was a member of New Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church. FRAIN -- Warren Francis, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2007. He was born on September 01, 1916, to parents, Frank Frain and Thora (Hassel) Frain, in Joliet, Illinois. Warren served in the United States Air Force for 31 years, and retired from Kirtland Air Force Base in 1967, holding rank as Senior Master Sergeant. GERHARDT -- Shirley E. Gerhardt, 77 of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, December 17, 2007. She was born on September 22, 1930 in Hackensack, New Jersey to the late Charles and Louise Froelick. She married Richard "Dick" C. Gerhardt and lived the life of an Air Force officer's wife following him wherever his career took him. He preceded her in death in 2005. Also preceding Shirley in death was her oldest son, Richard J. Gerhardt. She is survived by her youngest son, Douglas Gerhardt of Albuquerque. A private funeral service was held on December 26, 2007. GILLIAM -- TANYA ELISA GILLIAM March 29, 1973 - December 24, 2007 Passed away December 24, 2007 as a result of fatal injuries received in a car accident. Tanya, a native of Santa Fe, graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1991. She loved sports and was active in swimming, volleyball and golf. She earned her BS degree in Psychology and Deaf Studies at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. While attending Northeastern, she was a member of the university's crew team. Tanya later earned her MA degree in mental health counseling at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. She received the Fran White Award from her peers for showing the greatest potential for counseling deaf individuals. She returned to New Mexico in 2007 after living a number of years in Calgary, Canada with her dear friends the Kay Family, Dee Dee, Ken, Jordan, and Jazmyn. Tanya recently moved to Albuquerque where she had planned to continue her professional career as a Psychologist. Tanya is survived by her father, Richard Gilliam and wife Patti; mother, Marisa Kuriata Lucero and partner Larry O'Brien, and his son, Liam; sister Michelle Gilliam; brother, Mark Gilliam; grandparents: Jack and Mary Gilliam; aunts, Lucy Kuriata, Virginia Kuriata, and Emily Gaudreau; cousins: Marisa Baca and family, Lisa Kuriata and family; nieces and nephews; close family friends, Less and Nancy Harris. GOTTI -- Richard James Gotti, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, December 24, 2007, of natural causes. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Irene M. Gotti; children, Dr. Phyllis Floyd and husband, Eric Nelson and their children, Nick and Kendra Floyd; Patrina D. Smith and husband, Randall, and their daughter, Allison; Paul R. Gotti and wife, Stacy, and their daughter, Carlee. Mr. Gotti volunteered for World War II and served in Europe as a Combat Medic with the 11th Armored Division, he was honored with the Silver Star medal. Mr. Gotti resided in Los Alamos for 46 years before moving to Albuquerque in 1997. He was employed by the University of California Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. He was a group leader in the accounting department. Mr. Gotti was active in the Los Alamos community having been involved with the founding of the Del Norte Credit Union as a charter member and serving as its first supervisory chairman. He was also involved with the establishment of the Los Alamos Elks Lodge and served as the first Exalted Ruler as well as serving as a trustee for 5 years, a chaplain one year and as ritual coach for 14 years. He served a second term as Exalted Ruler in 1994/1995. Mr. Gotti also served as a board member and treasurer of the Timber Ridge Home Owners Association for seven years. While employed by the university, Mr. Gotti was a member of the International Systems and Procedures Association. GROSS -- Susan Kist, age 84, passed away on December 22, 2007. She was born in Jefferson City, Missouri on May 3, 1923. She was a resident of Los Alamos since 1978. Prior to that she lived in Lakewood, CO, Albuquerque, NM, and Arlington, VA. She was very active in the Girl Scouts serving as Brownie, Cadet, Junior, and Senior Troop Leader and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Chaparral Girl Scout Council. She was active in Republican politics during the eight years her husband served in the New Mexico Senate and was a member of the Board of Directors of Federated Republican Women of Bernalillo County, a member of the Public School Advisory Board of Bernalillo County, and on the Bernalillo Board of Directors for Retarded Citizens. She was a member of the Presbyterian Hospital Auxiliary in Albuquerque. In Los Alamos she served on the Board and as President of the Los Alamos Medical Center Auxiliary, and on as State President of New Mexico Hospital Auxiliary Association. She was active in the White Rock Methodist Church and served as the Chairman of the Board of the Horizon's Center Day Care Program and as a member of several other committees. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a very skilled seamstress, quilter and knitter and enjoyed fishing, camping, and travel. She was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Funeral Services will be conducted at White Rock United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2007. HERRERA -- Roy Herrera, was called home to be with Our Lord on December 26, 2007 with his family by his side. Roy is preceded in death by his father, Julian P. Herrera and son, Richard Herrera. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; son, Albert and wife, Katherine and granddaughter, Ankara Herrera; step-children, Michelle Barr and husband, Jeff, John Pricer and wife, Melanie and grandson, Scot Pricer. His mother, Charlotte Herrera; brother, Julian Herrera; sisters, Joann Raylea and husband, Michael, Esther Montano and husband, Donald and Olga Toledo and husband Bobby. Roy also has numerous aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins that survive him. Roy proudly served his country in the United States Army. Roy began his career at ACF and retired from General Electric after 32 years of service. He was an avid University of New Mexico Lobo and Dallas Cowboy fan. Roy enjoyed fishing, hunting and being in the outdoors, but most of all he loved being with his family. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. HUBBS -- MARVENE DEVERA MOTT Farmington, and former La Jara and Albuquerque, NM resident, Marvene Devera Mott Hubbs, 94, died December 25, 2007 after spending a pleasant Christmas morning at her home. She was born June 9, 1913 to Joel Heber and Fannie Bird Bridges Mott in La Jara, CO. She lived most of her early life in La Jara, Carmel and Alamosa. She married Frank Monroe Hubbs on May 16, 1953 and they lived in Trinidad, La Veta, Gunnison, Alamosa and Albuquerque, NM as Frank was a mechanic on heavy construction equipment. Marvene then spent the next 22 years in Albuquerque. Marvene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was involved in the relief society. She was a telephone operator in La Jara for many years and also managed a hotel in Albuquerque when she lived there. Up until her death she was vivacious and full of fun and she lit up a room with her lively personality. She loved doing crafts and caring for others was a joy for her. Marvene did not seem to age and she retained her quick wit and ability to think clearly until her death. In the late summer of 2007 Marvene moved to Farmington to live with the Rebekah and Jeff Schofield family. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and her husband. Many cousins are left to mourn her passing. A Graveside Service will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Monte Vista Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund through the La Jara Second Ward in care of the funeral home office. Arrangements are in care of Rogers Family Mortuary of Monte Vista.

JACOBSEN -- Marilyn Jacobsen, age 84, on December 22, 2007. Marilyn was a warm-hearted woman who added love and laughter to the lives of everyone around her. She relished her life and its joys, and faced the family's tragedies with grace and love. Marilyn grew up in Minneapolis, raised her family in Red Wing, and moved to Albuquerque in 1975. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth; children, Carol (son, Michael), Sandy (husband, Dean), and Chris (wife, Holly and children, Mara, Erik and Louisa); and her many dear friends and neighbors. Marilyn will be reunited with son, Dennis (and wife, Tina); son, Steven; and parents, Gertie and Halvor Butler. Her children will gather to honor her at the Red Wing Oakwood Cemetery in springtime. LAW -- James P. Law, 91, resident of Albuquerque since 1988, passed away on Christmas Day 2007. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Miriam; son, Jim Law and wife, Corinne of Albuquerque; grandson, Nile Law of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Melanie and Jon Kornbluh of Rico, CO; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Sara Law, and Jonah Law Kornbluh and Ruben James Kornbluh; sisters, Beth Edminster of Oklahoma, and Emma Holt and husband, Si of Round Rock, TX. J.P. served in the United States Air Force during World War II as a pilot of multi-engine aircraft. He later earned a PhD from Texas A&M University in 1965, and pursued a career as a research scientist for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency at the Kerr Water Research Center in Ada, OK. During his years in Oklahoma, J.P. was an avid bird-hunter and skeet shooter. After his arrival in Albuquerque he sang for a number of years with the New MexiChords mens barbershop chorus. MURPHEY -- John (Jack or Murf) Murphey, age 43, went to be with Jesus, Monday, December 24, 2007, after a long tough battle with an illness. Jack or Murf, as his family and friends so fondly called him, was born on March 2, 1964 in Silver City, NM, then moved to Albuquerque, and later married and called Bernalillo, NM his home. He worked at Lectrosonics as an Electronic Technician, for 17 years. Jack loved the Lord; his Annetto and his "Mommy". John was a man of God, his faith never failing him, his prayers were words of comfort and his hands were tools of the Lord. Murf loved his family, loud Rock-n-Roll music and playing the Guitar; the Raiders, and a good meal at Abuelitas. Jack we will miss you, life on earth will never be the same. But, we stand in agreement that we will see you again. Jack was preceded in death by his brother Billy; and his father, Donal Murphey. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Annette Murphey; his children, Johnny Murphey, Jeremy Robinson, Victoria, Stefany Olivas, and adopted daughter, Holly. RAY -- Kenton W. Ray, 85, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Christmas morning. He is survived by his wife, Vivian Ray; daughters, Susan Pazzi and Pamela Tanner; son-in-laws, Frank Pazzi and Roy Tanner; grandchildren, Knoulan Tannera and his wife Danielle, Vanessa Tanner, Dana Tanner, Gregory Pazzi and Gina Pazzi; sister, Polly Pedjoe from Escondido, CA; and many nieces and nephews. He served in France during WWII and prior to pretending he was retired, he was a construction contractor owning Seal-Co Inc. He was a long time member of Central United Methodist Church. He loved art and music throughout his life and sang with the Highland Harmonizers. Characterizing his nature he began skiing at the age of 45 and did not stop until the doctors insisted at the age of 74. He was full of life and lived at a breakneck pace infecting all around him with his passion for life and strong work ethic. Services will be held Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 1:30 PM at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper Ave NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Albuquerque, NM. STARR -- Adam Starr, age 21, passed away at the University of New Mexico Medical Center on Wednesday, December 26, 2007, following an unexpected and sudden illness. He was born August 4, 1986 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Boris and Heloisa Starr. He was currently a junior at UNM studying Bio-Chemistry as a pre-medical student. Adam was very active in his community and his Church. He participated in, chaperoned, and led many of the the Queen of Heaven Parish youth group activities and trips. He loved and was loved by many, many friends and had a huge impact on their lives and of those of his family. His examples of love and courage will be remembered forever by those that knew him and whom he touched. WYCHE -- James Bryce Wyche, (J.B.) affectionately known as "Jay-Pa" after his grandchildren were born, quietly passed away on December 25, 2007, surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. James was born in Roswell, NM on January 31, 1917 to Seth and Jessie Wyche and was the oldest of six children. J.B moved from Roswell at age eight with his family to homestead land in Pie Town, NM. In early 1940 he moved with his new bride to Albuquerque, NM where he worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. In 1949 he went to work for the Albuquerque Publishing Company. He retired in 1986, after 37 years but continued to work for APC as a consultant. At age 75, J.B. followed his dream of moving back to the country and built a home in Stanley, NM. J.B. was a lifetime member of the NRA and North American Hunting Club; he was also an avid hunter and expert marksman. Jay is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nelline, his two children Fred and his wife Monica and Martha and her husband Dennis, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one sister Elizabeth Bratcher. A Viewing will be held Thursday, December 27, 2006 at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary Chapel in Moriarty, NM from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
