LAPPIN -- Winona "Tiny" Lappin, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1940, died Sunday, April 18, 2004. She is survived by Rev. Mable Dawe and family; her sisters, Norma Lee Franklin and husband, Rev. Wallace M. and Doris Marie Houghton and husband, Donald K.; brother, Harold Wayne Lappin and wife, Maria M.; and many nieces and nephews. Miss Lappin was preceded in death by her sisters, Deloris Ann Lappin and Mable Ruth Lappin; parents, Marion Harold Lappin and Oma Lula Lappin; and step-mother, Edna Mae Lappin. She was a Pastoral Assistant and organist for over 60 years at Faith Chapel, where she was a member since 1942. She was also a Sunday school teacher from 1942 - 1999. Services will be held Thursday, April 22, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., at Faith Chapel, 1726 Girard NE, with Rev. Mable Dawe officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Sanchez -- Eduardo"Eddie" Sanchez Jr., 77, lifelong resident of Raton, New Mexico departed from this world on August 3, 2003 following a brief illness. He was the son of the late Eduardo Sanchez of Hernandez, NM and the late Virginia Vigil-Sanchez of San Jose, NM. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Evelyn Sanchez; and seven children, daughter, Virginia Fulkerson and husband, Arthur of Raton, New Mexico, Larry Sanchez and wife, Yvette of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jerry Sanchez and wife, Becky of Albuquerque, NM, Ron Sanchez of Raton, NM, daughter, Patricia Sanchez and husband, Manuel of Albuquerque, NM, Matthew Sanchez of Weatherford, Texas, and daughter, Beth Underwood of North Zulch, Texas. Eddie was a loving and devoted grandfather to Clayton Wetch, Melissa Sanchez, Samantha Sanchez, Lynette Sanchez, Deric Sanchez, Ryan Sanchez, Antonio Sanchez, Marissa Sanchez, Miranda Sanchez, Coda Sanchez, Brianna Valdez, Caleb Underwood, Jacob Underwood, James Haught, Daniel Fulkerson, Evan Fulkerson, Alysa Fulkerson and a proud great-grandfather to Julio Gomez and Savannah Gomez. He was an uncle to countless nieces and nephews; and a wonderful brother to his sole surviving sister, Josie Ramirez, of Trinidad, Colorado. Eddie was born on October 24, 1925 in Van Houghton, New Mexico. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II reaching the rank of Sergeant, and fought for his country in the Pacific theater in Japan and the Philippines. Upon returning from the war, Eddie worked in the Van Houghton coalmines in northern New Mexico, United Chevrolet Garage in Raton, New Mexico, and retired in 1988 after a 33-year career from the York Canyon Mine. He was an active member of the UMWA #7949 and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1749. A devout catholic, he was active in the St. Joseph Society, and other church activities. He loved to fish and enjoyed the outdoors at Lake Maloya and other surrounding lakes near Raton, visit with his friends and family, and embraced life each day. His loving and caring attitude touched the lives of many and a piece of his legacy is within all who knew him. Those who knew him will forever miss his generosity, love, and smile. Visitation will be Thursday, August 7, 2003 at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Rosary Mass is planned at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Friday, August 8, 2003, 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St Joseph Catholic Church, interment will follow at Mt. Calvary cemetery with a luncheon at St. Joseph Parish Hall to follow interment. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the"Eddie Sanchez Memorial Scholarship Fund" at any Bank of America.

Houghton -- Elizabeth A. Houghton, age 78, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away April 6, 2003. Survivors include her husband, Paul Houghton of the family home; daughter, Kay Houghton and husband, Peter Anders of Los Alamos, NM; sons, Paul W. Houghton and wife, Enong of Woodside, CA, Woods E. Houghton and wife, Cindy of Carlsbad, NM; sisters, Virginia Willard and husband, David of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Jannetta Houghton, Joshua Houghton, Jeremiah Houghton, Dustin Houghton, Forrest Houghton and Serena Houghton. Elizabeth lived in Albuquerque since 1924 where Girard was the end of town at that time and as a child used to catch wild horses near the mountains. Elizabeth was a Methodist and was a past Honored Queen of Job's Daughter. She enjoyed restoring antique furniture and doing genealogy. Viewing and visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., with the family being present from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors. Services will be held 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2003 in the Chapel of Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors with Dr. Rev. Colin P. Kelly III officiating. Turner -- Paul Turner, 59, of Georgetown, IL passed away on Monday, July 29, 2002 at his residence after his struggle with cancer. Paul was born April 5, 1943 in Phoenix, AZ, the son of Lamon D. and Pearl Irene Lyon Turner. Paul attended Georgetown schools and was a general laborer. He loved camping, country music, Harley-Davidson motorcycles and was a member of the Decatur, IL ABATE Chapter. Survivors include seven children, Stephen Conway Turner of Lubbock, TX, Edward Lee Turner of Albuquerque, Waylon Sue Turner of Lincoln, IL, Christopher Allen Turner of Decatur, Rose Marie Turner of Albuquerque, Jorene Raye Turner of Decatur and Christine Anne Turner of Decatur; two sisters, Doris (Oville) Erp of Indianola and Lanice (Bill)) Green of Georgetown; a special stepdaughter, Brandi Travelstead of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Paul Lamon Turner. Funeral Services will be held 12:00 noon, Thursday, August 1, 2002 at Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown. Officiating will be Rev. Paul Kent. Visitation will be one hour prior to Funeral Service Thursday at the funeral home. As per Paul's wishes, cremation will follow the service. Burial will be at a later date at Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Georgetown, IL.

Tregembo -- Rhoderic Tregembo, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2002. Rhoderic was born in Ironwood, MI, on October 26, 1926. He graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1944. He then enlisted in the US Air Force, and was sent to Michigan State University in an ASTP Engineering program for a year. He then completed basic training in Shepard Field, TX in 1945. He was transferred to Scott Field, IL for Crytography training and then went to Shepard Field and was discharged on Nov. 19, 1945. Rhoderic enrolled at Michigan Technical University in Houghton, MI where he received a BA in Mining and Civil Engineering in 1949. He was employed by Pickans Mather Corporation in Ironwood as a Mining Engineer and was transferred to the Cary Mine in Hurley, WI as an Assistant Mine Captain. He was married to the former Marianne Janov on September 9, 1950. He was transferred to the Sunday Lake Mine in Wakefield, MI as a Mine Captain and remained there until 1962 when the mine was shut down. On March 1, 1962 the family moved to Grants, NM when Mr. Tregembo was hired as a Technical Assistant to the General Manager. In July of 1962, he was transferred to the Sec. 24 mine and later the Sec 30 mine. He then went on to the Ambrosia Lake office as Assistant Manager of Mining. In 1975, he was transferred to Casper, WY as General Manager of the South Powder River operation and in 1977 was sent to Kerr McGee's offices in Oklahoma City as Vice President of Mining, Milling and Manufacturing of the Uranium Divisions. He retired from Kerr McGee in 1986 when he and his wife moved back to NM and then to Sun City West, AZ. They returned to Rio Rancho, NM in 1998. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marianne; his children, Scott and wife, Toni Tregembo of Albuquerque, Tracy and husband, Tom Camplain of Rio Rancho; granddaughters, Jamie and Jessi Tregembo, Ricky and Carly Camplain; sister, Mrs. A.J. Gilbert of Wakefield, MI; and several nieces and nephews. His brother, Roy preceded him in death. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary (Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln.) with Rev. Roselie Johnston of Paradise Hills United Methodist Church officiating. If you wish, memorial donations may be sent to the Salvation Army of Rio Rancho, 1520 Deborah Rd., Rio Rancho, NM 87124 or the Alzheimers Association, 1330 San Pedro NE, Suite 205, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Mr. Tregembo was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 1996 and was tenderly cared for by the Rio Rancho Nursing Home. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary, Rio Rancho, 892-9920.

Rose -- Mary Jane ("Jerry") Rose, 85, died at home on April 16, 2002. Mary Jane Brown was born in Michigan, graduated from Kingswood School in Bloomfield Hills, and Chevy Chase Junior College. She married William I. Rose in 1936, and moved to New Mexico with her family in 1950, when her husband founded Sun Country Industries. She lived on the west side of the Rio Grande, within sight of the bosque and Sandia Mountain. Jerry and her husband"Willy" both loved reading and helped build the Corrales Community Library. They were also proud leaders in the creation of the"Corrales Swimming Club," a social club with a rustic homemade outdoor pool that gathered friends in Corrales every summer day for 25 years. Jerry was a past president of All Faith's Home and the La Luz Landowners Association. She was a supporter and volunteer for the New Mexico Museum of Natural History, Planned Parenthood, and feeding the homeless. After Willy died in 1966, Jerry constantly expanded her circle of friends, always finding some to join her for a trip, an interesting class, a bit of dancing, a round of bridge, or some dixieland or blues. She organized a good share of her friends' social plans, and all her family's frequent reunions as well. She took her grandchildren on many far away adventures. Her 70th birthday party at the Palace Hotel in 1986 was a highlight. Her initiative and joy will be sorely missed. Jerry was preceded in death by her husband, William I. Rose; her brother, Aaron S. Brown; her sister, Elizabeth (Botts) Pulakos; a daughter, Sally Zolman; and two grandsons. She is survived by; a daughter, Elizabeth McElvain of Lemitar, New Mexico; a son, William I. Rose of Houghton, Michigan; five grandchildren: Jennifer Lind, Kristin Maas, Guy McElvain, Christopher and Jason Rose; and seven great-grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will take place on May 5, 2002 at 5:00-9:00 p.m. at her home. Instead of flowers, the family suggests gifts to support the Corrales Community Library or the New Mexico Museum of Natural History. Cremation was handled by Sunrise Society, 891-8200.

Senter -- Lily Jane McCance Senter, 97, of North Canal Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2001 at Lakeview Christian Home of the Southwest, Inc., North Canal Unit, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Lily Jane was born Sunday, February 14, 1904 to Samuel Winters McCance and Agnes Orr McCance in Bangar, County Down, Ireland. On March 10, 1910 she arrived in Sparta, Wisconsin at the age of six. November 18, 1918 she moved to Houghton, Michigan. January 29, 1929 she married John Senter, and they moved to Boxton, In 1947 she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and then to Carlsbad, New Mexico in October 1972. She weas preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sadie Batchelder and a nephew, Don Batchelder. Survivers include two daughters, Betty Denton of Carlsbad, NM, Dr. Joan Eyring of Albuquerque; one sister, Irene Martin of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Gerald Denton and Norman Denton, both of Carlsbad, NM, Lyndon Denton of Tucson, AZ, Tim Eyring of Albuquerque and Nathan Eyring of Washington; 3 great-grandchildren; one niece and numerous nephews. She will lie in state Thursday, December 27, 2001, 2:00-9:00 p.m. at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Friday, December 28, 2001, 11:00 a.m., at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bob Bacon of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Pallbearers will be: Forrest Dickerson, Truman Ferguson, J.T. Stephens, Monte Patterson, Pat Mitchell, and Joe McNew. Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
