Senter -- Lily Jane McCance Senter, 97, of North Canal Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2001 at Lakeview Christian Home of the Southwest, Inc., North Canal Unit, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Lily Jane was born Sunday, February 14, 1904 to Samuel Winters McCance and Agnes Orr McCance in Bangar, County Down, Ireland. On March 10, 1910 she arrived in Sparta, Wisconsin at the age of six. November 18, 1918 she moved to Houghton, Michigan. January 29, 1929 she married John Senter, and they moved to Boxton, In 1947 she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and then to Carlsbad, New Mexico in October 1972. She weas preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sadie Batchelder and a nephew, Don Batchelder. Survivers include two daughters, Betty Denton of Carlsbad, NM, Dr. Joan Eyring of Albuquerque; one sister, Irene Martin of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Gerald Denton and Norman Denton, both of Carlsbad, NM, Lyndon Denton of Tucson, AZ, Tim Eyring of Albuquerque and Nathan Eyring of Washington; 3 great-grandchildren; one niece and numerous nephews. She will lie in state Thursday, December 27, 2001, 2:00-9:00 p.m. at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Friday, December 28, 2001, 11:00 a.m., at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bob Bacon of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Pallbearers will be: Forrest Dickerson, Truman Ferguson, J.T. Stephens, Monte Patterson, Pat Mitchell, and Joe McNew. Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
