LARRIBAS -- Ray Larribas, 84, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2006. Born on August 8, 1922, he was raised in Martineztown. Mr. Larribas is survived by his children, Bonnie Larribas, David Larribas, Vietnam veteran, Celia Bonney and husband, Matthew, Anthony G. Larribas, Rosemarie Newsome and husband, Paul, John Larribas, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Ann Marie Goold, Carlos Larribas, Nicholas Bonney, Shane Larribas, Andrea Newsome, Alicia Larribas; an unborn great-grandchild; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maria Belen Larribas; and mother, Nellie Whitehead. Mr. Larribas was a WWII veteran and POW. He served in the 101st Airborne Division, 509th Regiment in the Army as a paratrooper from which he retired in 1964. Mr. Larribas served in the Army for 21 years and also in the Air Force as a Chief Fire Fighter and a Chief Fire Instructor. He retired from Sandia Laboratories. Mr. Larribas also served as a National Service Officer at the VA for 25 years. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church since 1963. Mr. Larribas will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, September 27, 2006, 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas NE. Mass will be promptly celebrated on Thursday, September 28, 2006, 9:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Friends may visit Our Lady of Fatima half an hour prior to the Rosary. Interment will take place at 11:30 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. CORDOVA -- Dennis C., 75, a 50 year resident of Albuquerque, entered the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, September 22, 2006 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Becky Cordova; his children, Katherine Baca and husband Randy, Alex Cordova and wife Tania, Linda Slezak, Martin Cordova and Maria Barber and husband James; grandchildren, Christopher and Jared, Carli and Brandi, and Peter and Steven; his siblings, Mary Sanchez and husband Desi, Nellie Montoya and husband Orie, Rey Cordova and wife Mary Ann, Vera DeeWeese and husband Jerry and Jeanette Nelson; father-in-law, Ysidro McKinley; sister-in-law, Dora Sanchez and husband Celso; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Dennis retired from Sandia National Labs after 33 years; worked for eight years with Parks & Recreation at the City of Albuquerque; was a high school basketball and football official for 38 years; and was inducted into the NMAA Officials Hall of Fame in 1999. HERRERA -- Manuelita Herrera, 91, Of Manzano, NM passed away on September 22, 2006, at the home of daughter Gloria and husband, Eppy Paez of Mountainair, NM. She was surrounded by her loving family. It broke our heart to lose you, mama, but you did not go alone, for part of us went with you. Your heart was weak, your bones were brittle, and you could no longer stay so God called you home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Herrera married for fifty eight years; and three sons, Roberto, Antonio Jr., and Augustine Herrera; parents, Maria and Salvador Griego; a brother, Sisto Griego; a sister, Adela, Chavez; and a daughter-in-law, Loyola Herrera. She is survived by a brother, Pedro and wife, Dolores Griego of Albuquerque, NM; sisters, Fedelina Garcia of Willard, NM, Virgina Aragon, Carman Thompson, and Mary Griego of Albuquerque, NM; sons, Ignacio and wife, Francis Herrera of Albuquerque, NM, Eddy Herrera of Estancia, NM, Arturo Herrera, Leroy Herrera and Ruth Ann Nelson of Manzano, NM; daughters, Tillie Herrera Brummell of Mountainair, NM, Isabel and husband ,Carlos Sanchez of Albuquerque, NM, Diana and husband, Mike Apodaca of San Bernardino, CA, Cecilia and husband, Arturo E. Sanchez of Bend, OR, Gloria and husband, Eppy Paez of Mountainair, NM; grandson, Daniel Herrera Brummell that she helped raise for six years. She loved her two year old great-granddaughter, Zoey Joe Brazil, Zoey would come into her room every morning and say, Good Morning Little Grandma, I love you. She was a wonderful, grandmother and loved all her 31 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 26 great-great-grandchildren. She was born in La Cienega, NM in 1915 and attended Mountainair High School, after that she met and married Antonio Herrera in 1933. Together they had 12 children. She was a member of Nuestra Senora de Dolores Catholic Church in Manzano, NM, where she and her husband were Mayordomos of the church three times, and she also was a member of the Alter Society. Pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Rachel Sarabia, Anabel Gamez, Shirly Felix, Karen Sanchez Griego, Julie Lujan, Teresa Wasson, Cathy Coleman, Elizabeth Herrera, Joyce Martinez, Louisa Herrera, Daniella Herrera, Carmella “Lucha” Herrera, Mariaelena Lovato, Olivia Boyle, Natalie Sanchez, Consuelo Brazil, and JoAnna Chavez. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Lawrence Herrera, Ronnie Herrera, Steven Herrera, Daniel Brummell, Patrick Brummell, Michael Herrera, Anthony Herrera, Charles Sanchez, Timothy Sanchez, Armando Herrera, Michael Apodoca, Joseph Apodace, Daniel Apodoca, and Solis Herrera. A Rosary will be recited Thursday, September 28, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church of Manzano. FLORES -- Lupe D. Flores, beloved matriarch and dear friend to many people died on August 31, 2006 at the age of eighty-nine years. She was born in Presidio, TX, to Jesus and Flora Deanda and was the oldest of five children. She married Manuel and they were married for sixty-eight years until his death. They moved to Miami, AZ where her husband worked for Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company for thirty years. Lupita was a devoted mother who said that her children: Aracely Flores-Horcasitas, Esequiel Flores, and Manuel Flores (all deceased), and Grace Flores-Burns of Albuquerque were her treasures. She was a wonderful grandmother to her ten grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She lived a full and faith filled life. She was a devoted Catholic and a great role model for her family. She worked as a housekeeper for Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church for thirty years. She belonged to the Ladies Altar Society. She loved to cook for all the family gatherings. Services were held on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Miami, AZ. The Mass was celebrated by Fr. Jay R. Luczak. She was laid to rest next to her husband, Manuel, at Pinal Cemetery in Claypool, AZ. The Pallbearers selected by Lupita were: James Burns and son, James, Pete DeAnd (brother) and son, Jess, Ramon "Ava" Alvarez and son, Troy, and Alfred Horcasitas and son, Gabriel. The family wishes to express their thanks to the many people that cared for her. Aracely, her family and Mikie Flores cared for her for 8 years while she was in Arizona, until she went to Albuquerque to be cared for by her other daughter, Grace and her family. Lupita had the services of Zia Hospice Team for two years by her wonderful nurses, Debra Garlett and her aide, Cassanda. She received excellent home care by Dr. Sandra Qaseem from Senior Health from the University of New Mexico. The Staff at Deluxe Boarding Home gave excellent care, loved her and simply spoiled her. Thanks to Lillian and Francisco Medina, owners of this great facility and a special thanks to Nancy Benson and Ramona Duarte, the house supervisors, and also to Maria, Beatrice, Ruth, Esequiel, and Maria.

NORLANDER -- Donald C. Norlander, age 63 passed away on Monday, September 18, 2006 at his home. He was born on August 5, 1943 to Kenneth and Louise (Nolan) Norlander in Denver, CO. Donald worked for PNM in the warehouse for over 27 years in Albuquerque. He enjoyed collecting antiques, playing and enjoying his grandchildren. Donald is survived by his wife, Rosario Norlander of 32 years of marriage. One daughter, Maria Najera and husband, Efrain of Albuquerque, NM and their children, Jeff, Jasmine, Reina, and Thalia; three brothers, John, Melvin D., and Gary Norlander, all of Albuquerque, NM. SALAZAR -- Gabriela Salazar, a longtime resident of Santa Rosa, NM, passed away on September 16, 2006 at her home following a short illness. Gabriela was born March 30, 1922 in San Ignacio, NM to the home of Luis U. Romero and Rita Madrid Romero. She married Jose Ismael Salazar on October 14, 1946 in Santa Rosa. They lived in Pastura for a while before making their home in Santa Rosa. Gabriela liked to quilt, play bingo, do ceramics, and go to the casino. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Las Hijas de Maria, and the Campos Senior Citizens. Gabriela was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Isamel Salazar; her parents, Luis and Rita Romero; her first husband, Frank Gonzales; two sisters, Piedad Lucero and Mercedes Ulibarri; two brothers, Jose and Al Romero; two daughters, Julia Sisneros and Erlinda Gonzales; a set of infant twins; and an infant daughter. Survivors include her sister, Mary Lou Davis and husband, Floyd of Conchas; her daughters, Linda Salazar of the family home in Santa Rosa, Cathy Apodaca of Albuquerque, Frances Murray and E.J. Marquez of Albuquerque; her sons, Roy Gonzales and wife, Clara, Eddie Salazar and wife, Viola, Rudy Salazar and wife, Stella and Placido Salazar, all of Santa Rosa. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two beloved aunts, Albinita Martinez of San Ignacio and Luga Ortiz of Clovis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews; and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary Services will be held on Monday, September 18, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. from St. Rose Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at 10:00 a.m., also from St. Rose Church, with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dennis Gonzales, Jason Salazar, Jonathan Salazar, Chris Salazar, Michael Salazar, Jose Luis Salazar, Jose Reyes Apodaca, Abel Apodaca, and Matthew Salazar. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Moises Herrera, E.J. Marquez, Jorge Chaparro, and the rest of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
