FLORES -- Lupe D. Flores, beloved matriarch and dear friend to many people died on August 31, 2006 at the age of eighty-nine years. She was born in Presidio, TX, to Jesus and Flora Deanda and was the oldest of five children. She married Manuel and they were married for sixty-eight years until his death. They moved to Miami, AZ where her husband worked for Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company for thirty years. Lupita was a devoted mother who said that her children: Aracely Flores-Horcasitas, Esequiel Flores, and Manuel Flores (all deceased), and Grace Flores-Burns of Albuquerque were her treasures. She was a wonderful grandmother to her ten grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She lived a full and faith filled life. She was a devoted Catholic and a great role model for her family. She worked as a housekeeper for Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church for thirty years. She belonged to the Ladies Altar Society. She loved to cook for all the family gatherings. Services were held on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Miami, AZ. The Mass was celebrated by Fr. Jay R. Luczak. She was laid to rest next to her husband, Manuel, at Pinal Cemetery in Claypool, AZ. The Pallbearers selected by Lupita were: James Burns and son, James, Pete DeAnd (brother) and son, Jess, Ramon "Ava" Alvarez and son, Troy, and Alfred Horcasitas and son, Gabriel. The family wishes to express their thanks to the many people that cared for her. Aracely, her family and Mikie Flores cared for her for 8 years while she was in Arizona, until she went to Albuquerque to be cared for by her other daughter, Grace and her family. Lupita had the services of Zia Hospice Team for two years by her wonderful nurses, Debra Garlett and her aide, Cassanda. She received excellent home care by Dr. Sandra Qaseem from Senior Health from the University of New Mexico. The Staff at Deluxe Boarding Home gave excellent care, loved her and simply spoiled her. Thanks to Lillian and Francisco Medina, owners of this great facility and a special thanks to Nancy Benson and Ramona Duarte, the house supervisors, and also to Maria, Beatrice, Ruth, Esequiel, and Maria.
