MURRAY, MARILYN MOYER Marilyn Moyer Murray, age 77, of Belen, NM, passed away peacefully on Jan. 27, 2015 with her family by her side. She was born on March 20, 1938 in Kansas City, MO to Helen and Milton Moyer. Marilyn grew up in K.C. and attended Paseo High School and the University of Kansas where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi. She majored in art and was extremely talented. She moved to Albuquerque in the late eighties and later married William Murray. She worked as a decorator for Penneys and then became a team leader for Hallmark Cards. She was preceded in death by her mother Helen Moyer, father Milton Moyer infant brother Robert Allen and step-mother Ann Moyer. She is survived by her husband William Murray of Belen, NM; daughter Jamie Boucher of Billings MT; granddaughters Kelsey (Tony) Hunt, Mariah Boucher; and great granddaughter Addison, all of Billings, MT; sister Joanne Kurre of Leawood, KS; cousins, nieces and nephews. There will be a celebration of her life and interment at a later date in Kansas City.

MARES, ERNEST ANTHONY (TONY) Ernest Anthony (Tony) Mares died January 30, at the age of 76, after complications from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He was born May 17, 1938, in Albuquerque, into a family steeped in the rich history of New Mexico and the desert Southwest. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Meyer; his son Ernesto Mares; daughter Vered Mares; daughter Maria Ehrnstein and her family, including granddaughters Lianna, Shannon, and Danielle; and brothers Chris and Michael and their families. He was preceded in death by his daughter Galit and his parents, Rebecca and Ernesto Gustavo Mares. There are no good words to sum up the life of such a brilliant and gentle soul. Tony was a true Renaissance man: professor, poet, essayist, dramatist, actor, political agitator and social activist, as well as mentor and friend. His life and legacy will continue to touch people through the lessons he taught his students, his overt dislike of the "establishment," and his extensive body of written work. His most recent work, a collection of poems about the Spanish Civil War, will be published posthumously. He wrote and performed his play, "I Returned and Saw Under the Sun," and traveled all over the state playing the role of Padre Martinez of Taos. His essays about Martinez were anthologized in the book, "Padre Martinez: New Perspectives from Taos." It is fitting that Tony's obituary be as untraditional as he was. Thus Tony leaves his family and friends with the following thoughts: "In the movie 'Casablanca,' Humphrey Bogart, proprietor of 'Rick's Cafe Americain,' tries to obtain the 'transit papers' from the Nazis that will allow his ex-girlfriend, played by Ingrid Bergman, to escape with her husband from Vichy controlled Casablanca. "Since I have never liked the sounds of 'will' or 'testament,' I prefer 'Transit Papers,' which seems to me a term more fluid and ambiguous with future possibilities. What will I transit to? A hideous urn that a merciful cat will knock over and scatter my ashes in some broken-down trailer home? Or ashes placed in a simple urn to be scattered over a beautiful site somewhere on the North American continent, a place like the Rio Grande or the Sandia Mountains? As I write this, I am fully aware that my ashes will have no say so whatsoever in what happens to them. So I leave it up to my resourceful wife and daughters who survive me to determine what to do with me while I am cooling off in some urn or container." While Tony is now in transit, both literally and figuratively, his life will be celebrated on Sunday, February 8, at the UNM Alumni Chapel at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please volunteer your time at your favorite charity or go to your local bookstore and support it fully. While the winter snows fall on the Sandias, we are left with our faces in the cold to reflect upon the many gifts Tony left with us. As he so aptly put it, "When the poem stops, you should go through the windshield."

RYAN, ANTHONY L. Anthony (Tony) L. Ryan, 67, passed away on January 15, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Madeline; brother, Larry; and son, Joshua. He is survived by his loving wife, Michele; children, Zachariah and Myriah; brother, Richard; and granddaughters, Bella and Eden. Tony graduated from the University of New Mexico with a BS in Pharmacy and served in the United States Coast Guard. A memorial service to celebrate the life of a vibrant and wonderful husband, father and friend will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Trinity at The Marketplace, 2520 Chama NE, Albuquerque, NM, 87110.

Services will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Drive SW. Rosary will be recited at 8:30 am, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place at 1:30 at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Pallbearers will be Jason Trujillo, Noah Trujillo, Dennis Gonzales, Jose Cisneros, Jovannie Cisneros, and Bill Lapsley. LUCERO, LYDIA Age 87, born in Cuba, NM, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015. TAPIA, JOSHUA A. Age 34, born September 21, 1980, passed away unexpectedly on January 18, 2015. He is survived by his loving parents Diane and Tony Tapia; step-mother Monica Tapia; his beloved son Israel Tapia and mother Esperanza Sanchez; loving brother Matthew Tapia; step-sisters Rebecca, Jessica and Alyssa; beloved grandfather David Graham; and many other loving relatives and friends. His passion was to read his Bible and be a strong believer in Jesus Christ. He loved spreading the word of God to anyone he came across. He had an extreme talent in the martial arts of Tae Kwon Do, as a first degree black belt. He will be sorely missed by all his family and friends. (Psalm 73:26) "My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." (Isaiah 25:8) He will swallow up death in Victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces.
