FRESQUEZ, JIMI SUE On 1/12/15, Jimi Sue "Suzie" Fresquez died peacefully after spending the night with her family in hospice care. Born May 18, 1952 in Hugo, OK, she is survived by her husband Julian, and sons Fernando and Jamen. As a librarian she inspired a generation of children at McCollum Elementary school and will be remembered for her beautiful smile and loving way. Memorial celebration at the ABQ Garden Center on Jan 25, 1-5pm.

GARDINER, VERA MAE Age 85, passed away January 17, 2015 in Layton, Utah. She was born January 16, 1930 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Charles and Margaret Fuchs Mechenbier. Vera Mae married Benjamin S. Gardiner on July 4, 1950 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church. Vera Mae was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Red Hats. She enjoyed sports, boating, Bingo and being with her family. Surviving are her daughters Nancy E. McHugh, Amy (Rick) Hartle; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Norbert (Tita) Mechenbier; and her sister, Mercedes Ray. Preceded in death by her husband Benjamin S. Gardiner and son Todd W. Gardiner. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Catholic Community Services or your favorite charity. HUGHES, HELEN KATHERINE Age 71, of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away on January 18, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. Helen was born on August 17, 1943 in Gerbstadt, Germany to Alexandra and Frank Gabrysiak. She and her parents immigrated to the United States, settling in Gary, IN when she was eight. Helen married Robert C. Hughes Jr. on Jan. 30, 1965 and raised her family in Valparaiso, IN until they retired to Rio Rancho, NM in 1986. Helen worked as a health care aide for 20 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling her dogs, as well as gardening and working in her yard. Helen is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert of Rio Rancho, NM; her sons Robert C. Hughes III of Cheyenne, WY and Kevin Hughes of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter Tracey Hughes of Albuquerque, NM; her four grandchildren, Bradley, Cody, Michael and Cayla; her sister Irene Puckett of Lake Station, IN and brother Edward Gabrysiak of Las Vegas, NV. Helen was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister, Mary. Cremation was performed by Daniels Family Funeral Services, Rio Rancho. MEARNS, NANCY C. Nancy C. Mearns, 91, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. She was born in Queens, NY, spent her youth in the Sawmill District of Albuquerque and graduated from Santa Fe High School. She served in the US Army during WWII. Nancy is survived by her son, Robert K. Reed, and his partner, Debbie Kuester; her step-grandchildren, Robert McDonnell, Marcella Stevens, John Strader and Matthew Strader; and numerous great-grandchildren and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrie and Florence Dalbey; her first husband, Robert Reed; and her second husband, William Mearns. Nancy will always be remembered for her loyal and loving support of her many friends and as a consummate hostess who filled a room with her beauty, elegance, and grace. Cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. A celebration of her remarkable life is planned to coincide with her birthday in mid-April. MONTOYA, DONNELL ANTHONY BARTON age 78, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015. Donnell is survived by his daughters, Debbie Leach and husband, Nick, Donna Broecker, Donnella (Nellie) Montoya, and Staci Montoya; sister, JoAnn Lespron; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special friend and neighbor, Nelda Sedillo; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Donnell was preceded in death by his mother, Cecilia Romero; and daughter, Jeannette B. Montoya. Donnell was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, during the Vietnam Era and a member of the New Mexico Air National Guard. Visitation will be Monday, January 26, 2015 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. NEFF, STEPHEN H. Age 94, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2015 surrounded by his family. Stephen was born in Greenville, OH on December 1, 1920. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Margaret (Colgan) Neff. He is survived by his children, John Neff, Kathleen Neff, Margaret Mortis and husband, Harold, Thomas Neff and wife, Rosemary, Stephen (Greg) Neff and wife, Patricia (Pinky), Mary Snow and husband, Gerald, Julie Gregory and husband, Danny, Teresa Bottomly and husband, Eric, Patricia Wallentine and husband, Michael, and Barbara Ducaj and husband, Mark. He is also survived by his grandchildren Rebecca Mortis, Rachel (Mortis) McManis, Matthew Mortis, Steffanie Mortis, Monica Neff, Lisa (Neff) Bell, Danielle (Neff) McLaughlin, Paula (Neff) Jernigan, Patricia (Neff) Sena, Kimberly Neff, Stephen Neff, David Snow, Veronica (Snow) Nalley, Joshua Snow, Sharon Snow, William Gregory, Jessica (Bottomly) Simpson, Christopher Bottomly, Thomas Bottomly, Aaron Wallentine, Patrick Wallentine, Sarah Wallentine, and Michelle (Wallentine) Madrid; and his great-grandchildren, Olivia Orozco, Emily McManis, Samuel McManis, Julia McManis, Shunyata Lysenko, Seth and Ian Jernigan. Jacob and Miguel Sena, Cheyenne Bottomly, and Donovan Wallentine. Stephen earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati. He worked in the kitchen at Good Samaritan hospital in Cincinnati where he met his future wife who was a dietician there. Upon graduation, Stephen entered the Army Corps of Engineers. After WWII Stephen worked at Monarch Machine Tools in Sydney, OH. In 1956, he moved his family to Albuquerque, NM where he obtained his master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Mexico and worked at Sandia Labs until he retired in 1985. A devoted husband and father, Stephen was also an active member Annunciation parish where he served as a lector, member of the Holy Name Society, and chaired the festival committee. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and, as an avid bridge player, achieved the rank of Silver Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League. An enthusiastic sports fan Stephen enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the Cincinnati Reds and the Dallas Cowboys. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the care shown to Stephen by Sheri Coen and Olivia Baca. A Rosary for Stephen will take place on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Daniels Funeral Home, 3113 Carlisle NE, ABQ. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Annunciation at 2610 Utah St. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Interment will take place on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery located at 7500 Paseo Del Norte, NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113. Time of interment is pending. ORTIZ, ADOLPH R. JR. Adolph R. Ortiz Jr. age 92, of Albuquerque, passed into eternal life peacefully on January 20, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 5, 1923 in Parkview, NM to Adolfo and Benigna Ortiz and raised in Albuquerque. He enlisted into the Marine Corps on December 11, 1942, and served until January 2, 1946. He was honorably discharged from the military as a Corporal. He served active duty during the Pacific Ocean theatre in World War II. On December 27, 1952 he married Dolores Garcia. They raised seven children together. He retired after 30 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Dolores and son, Steve, and son-in-law, Robert. He is survived by two sons, Richard Ortiz (Olga) and Daniel Ortiz; four daughters, Lorraine Sanchez (Gerald), Lillian Coleman, Rebecca Coleman (Terry) and Karen Pena (Frank); 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. Adolph was a member of the local DAV Chapter where he enjoyed the camaraderie of his military friends. He was a devout Catholic and a member of San Felipe Catholic Church for over 55 years. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Sunday, January 25 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 309 Stover Ave. The mass and funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 26 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. SEYMOUR, SHIRLEY ANN Age 70, of Albuquerque, died peacefully at home on January 20, 2015. She was born to the late David and Hattie Smith, May 3, 1944 in Kings Mountain, N.C. Shirley married John Jay Seymour Jr. on April 16, 1965. She then went on to earn her BA with honors in elementary education from High Point University in High Point, N.C. Shirley taught 6th grade at Tyro Elementary in Lexington, N.C. for five years. Upon moving to Albuquerque, NM in 1978, Shirley earned her Masters in adult education from UNM. And soon after, began her 25 year career with Qwest Communications. Shirley was an active member of the LDS Academy Heights Ward. She loved collecting seashells and rocks everywhere she went. She was an avid back packer and a voracious reader. She loved scouring shelves, looking for chicken and rooster items to decorate her kitchen and house. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, John Jay Seymour Jr., retiree of Albuquerque Academy; her daughters Cindy Seymour of Albuquerque, Kari Newport and husband Aaron Newport of Rio Rancho, NM. Shirley doted on her two grandsons Dylan and Hunter Newport of Rio Rancho, NM. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Maxine Seymour of Albuquerque, and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by sisters Juanita Reeves, Laura Fulp and brother David Smith Jr. Services to celebrate Shirley's life will take place on Saturday, January 24th, 2015, 3:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 1100 Montano Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the Wounded Warrior Project.

TAPIA, JOSHUA A. Age 34, born September 21, 1980, passed away unexpectedly on January 18, 2015. He is survived by his loving parents Diane and Tony Tapia; step-mother Monica Tapia; his beloved son Israel Tapia and mother Esperanza Sanchez; loving brother Matthew Tapia; step-sisters Rebecca, Jessica and Alyssa; beloved grandfather David Graham; and many other loving relatives and friends. His passion was to read his Bible and be a strong believer in Jesus Christ. He loved spreading the word of God to anyone he came across. He had an extreme talent in the martial arts of Tae Kwon Do, as a first degree black belt. He will be sorely missed by all his family and friends. (Psalm 73:26) "My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." (Isaiah 25:8) He will swallow up death in Victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces.

WHITE, THAMAR Thamar A. White, 97, a resident of Albuquerque since 1982, was called home peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2015. She is survived by her nephews, John R. WHITLING, ETTA MAE Age 94, of Albuquerque, passed away on January 22, 2015. She is survived by her children, Patricia M. Saxton, Leo C. Whitling, Jr. and Amy L.
