MARTINEZ, TERESA RAFAELA PADILLA age 87, born in Los Padillas, New Mexico to Rafael and Demesia Padilla, passed away in her childhood home on Monday, January 5, 2015. Teresa was a lifelong New Mexico Educator, beginning her teaching career at the elementary level in San Rafael, New Mexico. She later taught for over twenty years in the Los Lunas, Public Schools and loved helping children learn. Teresa became an avid traveler, upon graduation from Albuquerque High School, Class of 1945,she visited Niagara Falls and New York City with her sisters. Throughout her later years, Teresa traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Holy Land, Mexico and the United States. She loved meeting new people from around the world and hearing about their lives. Teresa received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1948 from the Catholic Teachers College of New Mexico, later known as the University of Albuquerque. Teresa was a devoted, lifetime member of the Catholic Church and a member of the Legion of Mary, serving in a leadership role throughout her tenure. Teresa was involved as a Lay Minister with Church of the Ascension, her home parish. She relished the opportunity to serve the church in this capacity. Teresa is survived by a daughter, Dr. Berlinda Martinez-Gallegos and husband, Gilbert of Tega Cay, South Carolina; son Richard Martinez and wife, Gerri; grandchildren; great- grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Predicanda Padilla, Lina Padilla, Alma Martinez, and Stella Ortega; brother-in-law, Jose Aramante Martinez Jr.; numerous nieces, and nephews, including State Senator Michael Padilla, New Mexico Cabinet Secretary of Taxation and Revenue, Demesia Padilla, and former Secretary of State, Clara Padilla-Andrews; and a host of friends. Teresa was preceded in death by her husband, Ricardo Martinez; her son, Rafael (Ralph) Martinez; parents, Rafael and Demesia Padilla; sisters, Andrea Chavez, Cleotilde (Cleo) Garcia, and Celestina Lopez; brothers, Julian, Ralph, Carmel, and Desiderio (Phil) Padilla. Visitation will be Friday, January 9, 2015 at Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac SW from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by the Legion of Mary. Final visitation will be at the Church of the Ascension, Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Los Padillas Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rafael Padilla, Mateo Sanchez, Larry Garcia, Mariano Padilla, Ralph Padilla, Richard Padilla, Matisa Sainz, and Gilbert Gallegos. CARRILLO, LAWRENCE age 50, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Lawrence is survived by his sons, Gabriel Carrillo, and Lawrence Sanchez and wife, Marissa; his mother, Lucy Carrillo & friend, Cel Vigil; brother, Eric Carrillo and wife, Elizabeth; grandchildren, Shaela, Gabriel, Audrianna, and Mia; niece, Naomi; nephew, Mateo; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. BACA, JOHNNY M. age 83, born in Belen, NM, and a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014 with his family at his side. Mr. Baca is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Lupe; children, Rafaelita Gonzales and husband, David, Gloria Chavez and husband, Steven, Johnny R. Baca, Libbie Baca and fiance, Roy Leyba, Dianna L. Baca, and Delfinio Dean Baca; children Johnny and Lupe raised, Michael Sanchez, Darlene Harold and husband, Tim, and Mary Lou Garcia; sisters, Mona Flores, Connie Jaynes, and Lupe Hooker; brother, Ruben Baca and wife, Carol; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-six great- grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. GONZALES, JOE LOUIE age 66, born in Los Alamos, NM, and a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014. Joe is survived by his daughters, Christina Gonzales, and Edwina Gonzales-Garcia and husband, Kenneth; his son, Christopher Gonzales; grandchildren, Adrianna Garcia and Justin Garcia; his mother, Ruby Gonzales; sisters, Gloria Lopez and husband, Leroy, Virginia Baca and husband, Michael, Josie Gonzales, and Sandra Zamora; wife of many years and friend, Kathy Gonzales; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Luis Gonzales; sister, Annabelle Campbell; and grandson, Mateo Garcia. Joe was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam Era, was a catcher for La Familia Softball Team. Joe was very outgoing, loved joking, laughing and was always willing to help others. GARCIA, PATRICIO C. age 96, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home, Friday, November 21, 2014, with his family at his side. Mr. Garcia is survived by his children, Frances Griego, Patricia Padilla and husband, Joe B., Teresa Weaver, Leroy Garcia and wife, Rosalie, and Lala Garcia; his brother, Oscar Garcia and wife, Helen; nineteen grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and held close to his heart the Jimenez Family. Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his wife, Lucinda; grandson, Joey Padilla; granddaughter, Barbara Martinez; sons-in-law, Michael Weaver, and Charles Griego. Mr. Garcia enjoyed farming, gardening, and tending to his sheep. He loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow-up. Mr. Garcia was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and he was recognized and very involved in the Los Griego's Community. GALLEGOS, MARTIN JOSEPH beloved father, son, brother, and uncle passed away at the age of 44, Sunday, November 16, 2014 from brain cancer. Martin was a native New Mexican, born April 16, 1970, to Narciso and Lupe Gallegos.
