ANDERSON, DONALD L. (ANDY) Age 84, peacefully passed away December 18, 2014 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born in Du Bois, PA. Andy served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He moved to Albuquerque in 1956 where he raised his family and started his career working for the US Postal Service until he retired in 1985. Andy enjoyed hunting, fishing and building things. It wasn't so much about the activity, but more so to be with family and friends. He loved spending time at the family Ranch in Manzano where he tended to his pet horses. We fashioned him as our Urban Cowboy. He was preceded in death by his father, George and mother, Ruth; brothers, Wes and Ernie Anderson and son, Ernest Otero. Andy leaves behind his loving wife, Mela; brothers, Bill Anderson of Dallas, TX; Ernie (Marlene) Anderson of Anapolis, MD; daughter, Viola Otero-Bennett of Albuquerque, Leve Otero, Charlie (Donna) Otero of Albuquerque. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Aaron, Erica and Sarah Bennett, Leanor (Ferni) Sauri, Jesse (Emily) and Carlos Otero and Katelyn Otero; great-grandchildren, Gentry, Samantha and Leyla Otero; Caridad, Reynaldo and Ernest Sauri and numerous nieces and nephews. He was truly respected and loved by his family and friends. A Memorial Mass will be Thursday, January 8, 2015, 8:30 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd NE. ARMIJO, ROBERT "BOBBY" TOBY JR. Robert "Bobby" Toby Armijo Jr. Sunrise: February 3, 1966 Albuquerque, NM Sunset: January 1, 2015 Albuquerque, NM. Bobby was welcomed home to Heaven on the first sunset of 2015. Bobby was a School on Wheels High School graduate. He is survived by his loving mother, Alba Morales; stepdad, Rigoberto Morales; his son, Robert Armijo; and daughters, Cassandra Armijo and Kyndra Armijo. Bobby is preceded in death by his father, Robert Armijo Sr. and sister, Kathy Sanchez. Bobby is survived by "brother" Edward Armijo; sisters, Doris Martines, Pauline Armijo, Shirley Aguilar and husband, Jonathan Aguilar; many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles cousins, family and friends, all of Albuquerque, New Mexico, along with many extended relatives. Bobby had a passion for helping people. He volunteered his time regularly as his brother, Eddie Armijo's ride-along partner in Law Enforcement. Bobby also volunteered with the Algodones Fire Department. Bobby had a true talent for making people laugh and he was an excellent listener. We will all remember Bobby for his talent of loving children and mentoring teenagers. A memorial service is being held at Sagebrush Community Church, 6440 Coors Blvd, Albuquerque, NM 87120 on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Flowers may be delivered to Sagebrush Community Church. BARRERAS, JERRY passed away peacefully on January 3, 2015, at the age of 80. Jerry is preceded in death by his wife Charlotte. Jerry is survived by his children, Geri Alcantar, husband Ralph, Debbie Ulibarri, husband Ray, Jerry Barreras, Vicki Barela; and his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. BENJAMIN, BENJAMIN CODY A celebration of life ceremony will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Monday January 12, 2015 at the National Museum of Science and History at 630 Eubank NE in Albuquerque. Ben was born on 11-17-1922 in McIntosh, South Dakota to Issac and Lillian Benjamin. Ben graduated from Washburn High School and from the University of Minnesota. Ben married the former Mary Monteverde in Pittsburgh, PA and they left for Oak Ridge, TN for Ben's first assignment in the Army. Ben and Mary proceeded to Los Alamos and Santa Fe, NM where Ben began his career in the Manhatten District Engineers in Los Alamos and at Trinity. After the war Ben finished his education and returned to New Mexico working for Sandia Labs until his retirement. Ben returned to Sandia Labs as a consultant, ultimately working at Sandia Labs for 50 years. Ben was a private pilot, and he had many interests including hunting, fishing, white water rafting, anthropology and the study of ancient man as well as wood working, painting and sculpting. Ben is survived by his son Cody and his wife Karin and their daughter Jessica and her husband David Schmidt; his daughter Eileen Ball and her husband Craig Ball and his daughter Katrina Benjamin. Ben was preceded in death by his son Lee Benjamin and his wife Mary Benjamin, as well as his parents Isaac and Lillian Benjamin.

COOPER, MARY LOU Age 81, died Thursday, January 1, 2015. She was born, educated and lived most of her life in Albuquerque, NM. Mary Lou and her husband, the late Major Collier T. Cooper, United States Army, lived and traveled throughout the world. Additionally, Mary Lou worked for a number of corporations including Sandia Labs and PNM. She was a loyal and loving friend and aunt to her nieces and nephews. Also remembered are her beloved dogs, Tippy, Kimche, Poncho, and Noel. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. EVERHART, JANICE KAY Age 60, passed away at home on December 15, 2014 after a long illness. Her courage and strength were an inspiration to all who knew her and to those who got to know her over her last years. The daughter of the late William and Virgie Everhart, she is survived by her longtime companion Paul Phelan of Albuquerque; her beloved sons Nicholas W Ferolie and Samuel L Ferolie of Phoenix, AZ; her brother James Everhart and wife Daisy of El Paso, TX; her sister Kim Keiser and husband Rick of Fayston, VT; sister Laurie Everhart & longtime companion Myke Yaple of Albuquerque; as well as all her nieces and nephews. Raised in Albuquerque she was a graduate of Manzano High School. After living in Phoenix for almost 20 years while raising her sons, she returned to Albuquerque a number of years ago. She was independently employed as a medical transcriptionist and more recently had done similar work for the local film industry. A wonderful, devoted mother and an absolutely beautiful woman in so many ways, she will be dearly missed by all of her family and many friends. Those of us who knew her are the fortunate ones. The family wishes to thank Presbyterian Hospice for their wonderful help and support in the recent months. A remembrance celebration will be held on Saturday, January 10th at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd UCC, 7834 Tennyson St NE, 87122 in Albuquerque. Casual attire welcomed. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park at a later date. FREEDMAN, SYLVIA Our mom, Sylvia Freedman, was born on August 20, 1923. Mom passed away at 5:19 in the afternoon on Friday, December 26, 2014. It was snowing. She was well into her 91st year on this planet. Sylvia was born and raised in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area of Pennsylvania. Her family moved to New York City when she was a teenager. Sylvia finished her schooling at DeWitt Clinton High School. She met our dad when they both worked at the IRS. They married, raised a family of 3 boys in the Bronx. Over the years Teddy, Mark, Larry, mom and dad moved and resettled in New Mexico. We loved our mom very much! She had many friends and family who loved her as well. She loved her dog PeeWee, as did her whole neighborhood! Mom instilled in us the values that helped us to be better people. Those values will be with us forever. We will miss you mom. You were the greatest. Dad will be glad to have you back. We love you mom! Our mom, Sylvia Freedman, is survived by her three sons, Ted, Mark and Larry; her two grandchildren, Barak and Sahar, (Mark's children); her daughter-in-law Lorraine Palmer (Ted's wife); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. We will all miss mom. The Burial Service will take place on Thursday, January 8th at 10:30am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. GONZALES, ERNEST M. Age 80, a life-long resident of Albuquerque died after a long illness on Sunday, January 4, 2015 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Veronica Gonzales; three children, Michael Gonzales, Barbara Fuller and husband John, and Dorothy Garcia and husband Ted; grandchildren, Adam, Theresa, David, Dominique, Benjamin, Daniel, Ted Jr., and Michael; great- grandchildren, Victoria Rose, Anthony, and Angelo; sister, Inez Gonzales; and numerous other relatives and friends. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, Andres and Francisca Madrid Gonzales; son, Ernest Martin Gonzales; and sister, Vidala Griego. He was born in 1934 in Albuquerque and graduated from Albuquerque High School. He married the love of his life, Veronica Gallegos in 1954. Ernest had family ties to New Mexico that date back to the Spanish Colonial Period through the Mexican Territorial Period, American Territorial Period and US Statehood. He is a descendant of New Mexico's first European Families which include Captain Juan Gonzales Bas, the first Alcalde mayor of Albuquerque. Ernest was educated as a bookkeeper but worked in sales, working for Galles Chevrolet and retiring from Quality Pontiac. He loved to play the guitar, teaching three of his grandsons how to do the same. Ernest was a born again Christian and played in the church choir at San Ignacio Church. He loved animals, especially his four chihuahuas. Ernest was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends may visit on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. till a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. A Christian Burial Mass will be held at San Ignacio Church, 1300 Walter St. NE on Friday, January 9, 2015, 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. HENNINGS, EDWARD A. Age 82, passed away in the early morning, January 4th, 2015. Born on August 20th, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI and moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1980 to be close to family. He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Ellen, brother Francis, and parents Edward & Josephine Hennings. He is survived by his brother, Charles Hennings and wife Christine. Also survived by his closest friend and caregiver Cecil Barreras; and his supportive family Leatta, Melissa, Cecil Jr.; and special godchild Cecil David; and friend Paul Vainio; and many other compassionate care-givers. Edward, degreed in multiple languages from the Univ of WI, lived a diverse life full of travel, interesting experiences, and numerous friends. His life of service began as a Franciscan Capuchin Brother. He retired from TWA as an International Flight Service Manager. He served many years as a care-giver to ailing parents and aided many senior friends and neighbors. This kind and generous man will be fondly remembered and missed by many. In honor of his wishes, there will be no services. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice. JONES, VICKI LEE Vicki Lee Jones, born March 13th, 1955, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, December 16th, 2014. Vicki was preceded in death by her husband Rick; her step-son Joshua; and her grandson Dalton. Vicki is survived by her mother Juanita; her daughter Charmaine; son Rick; step-son Matthew; granddaughter Caitlin; brothers Tom, Ronnie, Brian, Greg, Glenn, and Danny Joe; her sisters Tammy and Lisa. Vicki was a bookkeeper, bartender and a caregiver for her late husband. She was also a loving daughter, mother, sister and a friend to all and she will be missed dearly. LOPEZ, VINCENT (VINNIE) EDWARD JR. 1988-2014 Vincent (Vinnie) Edward Lopez Jr., age 26, a resident of Valencia County went to be with our Lord on Friday, January 2, 2015. Heaven welcomed an angel with a heart of gold that was larger than this life on earth. Vinnie will live on forever in our hearts thru the love and compassion he had for his family, friends, and others; his love for the guitar; and most recently his nephew, CJ. Vinnie was a current member of the "Gun Slinging Birds" an old school rock and blues band. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta. MARTIN, BARBARA A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., at New Life City, 505-323-3900, 4830 Pan American Fwy, NE in Albuquerque. Barbara was born on January 20, 1944, in Quincy, MA, and is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Martin; and her sister, Carol Connolly. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Tom Connolly of Simsbury, CT; nephews, TJ Connolly and his partner, Mary Joyce McLaughlin of New York, NY, Bill Connolly of Niantic, CT, Andrew Connolly of Simsbury, CT; and a niece, Maura Connolly Egan and her husband, John of Boston, MA. Many great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins, whom she loved very much, also survive her across New England. Barbara was an ordained Pastor at New Life City and a volunteer Chaplain at UNMH. She was employed at UNM for many years. Barbara was a great fan of her beloved Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. She loved Jesus and the Presence of God, her family, her church, and her many friends. MARTINEZ, TERESA RAFAELA PADILLA age 87, born in Los Padillas, New Mexico to Rafael and Demesia Padilla, passed away in her childhood home on Monday, January 5, 2015. Teresa was a lifelong New Mexico Educator, beginning her teaching career at the elementary level in San Rafael, New Mexico. She later taught for over twenty years in the Los Lunas, Public Schools and loved helping children learn. Teresa became an avid traveler, upon graduation from Albuquerque High School, Class of 1945,she visited Niagara Falls and New York City with her sisters. Throughout her later years, Teresa traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Holy Land, Mexico and the United States. She loved meeting new people from around the world and hearing about their lives. Teresa received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1948 from the Catholic Teachers College of New Mexico, later known as the University of Albuquerque. Teresa was a devoted, lifetime member of the Catholic Church and a member of the Legion of Mary, serving in a leadership role throughout her tenure. Teresa was involved as a Lay Minister with Church of the Ascension, her home parish. She relished the opportunity to serve the church in this capacity. Teresa is survived by a daughter, Dr. Berlinda Martinez-Gallegos and husband, Gilbert of Tega Cay, South Carolina; son Richard Martinez and wife, Gerri; grandchildren; great- grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Predicanda Padilla, Lina Padilla, Alma Martinez, and Stella Ortega; brother-in-law, Jose Aramante Martinez Jr.; numerous nieces, and nephews, including State Senator Michael Padilla, New Mexico Cabinet Secretary of Taxation and Revenue, Demesia Padilla, and former Secretary of State, Clara Padilla-Andrews; and a host of friends. Teresa was preceded in death by her husband, Ricardo Martinez; her son, Rafael (Ralph) Martinez; parents, Rafael and Demesia Padilla; sisters, Andrea Chavez, Cleotilde (Cleo) Garcia, and Celestina Lopez; brothers, Julian, Ralph, Carmel, and Desiderio (Phil) Padilla. Visitation will be Friday, January 9, 2015 at Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac SW from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by the Legion of Mary. Final visitation will be at the Church of the Ascension, Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Los Padillas Cemetery. MCCLEAN, PATRICIA Patricia "Pat" McClean departed this world for Heaven, December 30th after a bout with cancer. She passed peacefully and willingly, knowing she was going to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, and previous departed friends welcoming her. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Bob; and four children: Sally Prazeres, Greg McKinsey, Cathy Toffel and Rick McClean, their families; and four grandchildren. Pat also leaves behind many friends who were blessed by her sweet smile and caring ways. She enjoyed fellowshipping with friends, painting with watercolors, gardening, travelling and God's natural beauty in diverse places. Philippians 4:6 was a favorite verse for Pat and Bob "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." A celebration of Pat's life will be held at Hoffmantown Church on Saturday, January 17th at 11 am. MURRAY, CLARABELLE TERPENNING Clarabelle Terpenning Murray passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 28th. Born on September 25, 1927, she was one of four children of Linus Terpenning and Clara Hunter. Her father built Navy Patrol Boats for World War II, including the PT-109 commanded by John F. Kennedy. She met her husband Michael Murray in Rhinebeck High School, New York. During a school dance one of his friends, Stickels, bet him $0.25 on a dare to dance with the new girl in school from "New York City." Clara worked as the secretary to the Bayonne Navy Shipyard's Commandant after high school in the 1940s. She married Mike in Rhinebeck, NY in 1945. She traveled the world with him during his 23 years of active duty in the Navy, the Army Air Corps, and the Air Force. They moved to New Mexico with their four children in 1966 after Mike's military retirement, and they built the 75th house in Rio Rancho. She and Mike also lived in Bernalillo, Albuquerque, El Rancho and Los Alamos. Clara was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, Church Organist (in more than 5 churches), and President of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Rio Rancho Volunteer Fire Department (1960s). She was an avid camper, gardener, pet owner, square dancer and round dancer. She was active in the United Methodist Church wherever she lived. Clara helped with numerous church youth group and school activities as well as other projects in her communities. Clara became a key punch operator/medical coder in the 1970s for the Social Security Commission and retired after more than 15 years. She always owned personal computers, starting with a Commodore and ending with a wireless tablet that she used to keep up with her great-grandkid's pictures on FaceBook. Whether she was known as Mom, Grandma, Mrs. Murray, or Clara, she touched the lives of all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all of their friends. She passed on her love of reading, learning, sewing, traveling, camping, and music, as well as enjoying life to its fullest. Clarabelle is survived by her sister-in-law Annan and husband Gordon (Ike) Allen; brother-in-law Jonathan & wife Esther Murray; children Matthew M. Murray, Cecelia M. Rosales and husband Oscar, Diane M. Lightwood and husband George, Stephen A. Murray and wife Marti; and daughter-in-law Barbara McAllister; grandchildren/great-grandchildren include Anna Noriega; Mica M. Murray and son Jeremiah; Thomas E. Fuller, wife Sarah and children Simon, Felicity, and Alexander; Jean Vignato, husband Gabriel Jr. and children Gwendolyn, Gabriel III, and Gaetano; and numerous nieces and nephews. Clara's husband Mike passed away in February of 2009. Her sister-in-law Brita Murray passed away on December 25, 2014. The family would also like to acknowledge her caregiver of more than nine years, Christine Saiz, who was like a member of the family. Services for Clara will be held at Central United Methodist Church, 201 University Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106 on January 24 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery next to Mike on January 26 at 10:30 a.m. Clara's family asks that you wear bright, cheerful colors if you attend her services, as this will be a celebration of her incredible life. STATLER, ROBERT (BOB) DANIEL Robert (Bob) Daniel Statler, age 89, died peacefully on January 3, 2015 at his home in Aztec, NM. He is survived by wife, Carlyn Statler; his cousin and companion in adventure Elmer Young; his children and step-children Amy Woolley, Carol Ritter, and Robert D. Statler, Jr., all of Albuquerque, NM, Rebecca Pino (Joe) of San Tan Valley, AZ, Robert Culp (Jan) of Farmington, NM and Cindy Culp of Lake Dallas, TX; grandchildren James Jensen, Robert Jensen, Karen Penry, Shelley Sorenson, Launi DeYoung, Robert Ritter, Daniel McClaflin, Thomas McClaflin, McKenna Culp and Christopher Culp; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and countless friends and family whom were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Newton and Margaret Gillett Statler, siblings Orpha Poole, Esther Huff, Margaret Kelley, Walter Statler, and Junior Newton Statler. Bob was born in Glendale, AZ, graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Civil Engineering and served in the US Navy. His lengthy career at Sandia National Laboratories took him and his family from Albuquerque to Coca Beach, FL and Tonopah and Las Vegas, NV. Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Farmington, NM and enjoyed singing with the Golden Tones. He had a life-long love of fishing, golf and western movies. He touched the lives of many people and was the respected patriarch of the Statler family. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his wisdom, strength and an indomitable love of life. STEVENS, JERRY LYNN Age 73, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015. He was born in Odessa, TX on September 15, 1941, to Jim Hollis and Ruby Inez (Thompson) Stevens. TAYLOR, PATRICIA Patricia Taylor, 58, advertising director of The Taos News from 1986-90 and marketing relations director for the Taos Chamber of Commerce for five years, died Dec. 19 at the University Of New Mexico Medical Center, surrounded by family. She died as the result as a result of respiratory complications. She is widely credited during her time at the Taos Chamber with the concept that launched the Taos Fall Arts Festival, as a way to encourage tourists to visit Taos during the off season. She was enormously popular with her advertising clients at The Taos News. Taylor left Taos to attend New Mexico Highlands University first in Las Vegas and later in Albuquerque to earn a double master's degree in social work and non-profit management. Taylor was best known as someone who could never say no to a friend or a pet, an avid reader and skier and devoted mother and grandmother. She was pre-deceased by her former husband, Forbes; and her father, DeLyle R. Youngman. Survivors include her granddaughter, Kayla Lopez of Albuquerque; mother, Betty Youngman of Ft. Worth, Texas; and siblings Kathy Mosteller, Roy Youngman, Nancy Provolt, and Tom Youngman and their spouses, as well as her adopted daughter Ivy Taylor; grandson Alex Gregory and many nieces and nephews.
