GARCIA, MANUEL G. Age 87, passed away on March 4, 2015, peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was a WWII veteran, beloved husband for 67 years, a devoted father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was born on December 24, 1927 in La Joya, NM to Cipriano and Contrada Garcia and resided in Albuquerque for most of his life. He was preceded by his parents, sister Viola, daughter Katherine and great-grandson James. He is survived by his wife Amelia Garcia; daughters Susan, Margaret and Louise; brother Frank; sister Bennie; and many spoiled grandchildren. He had tremendous faith in the Lord and could always be found reading his Bible. He was a successful carpenter who built the home where we all come together as a family. He cherished his children and grandchildren and always wanted what was best for everyone. He had a joy for life and loved to sing and play his harmonica to anyone who would listen. He loved being outside working and towards the end he would love to sit outside in the sun and just watch. Services will be held on March 10, 2015 at San Jose Parish (old church). The viewing, Rosary and Mass will start at 9:30 a.m., followed by a celebration of his life at American Legion Post 13. ALARCON, GERALD born April 13th, 1960, age 54, passed away on March 4th, 2015. Gerald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend; he will be truly missed by all those who knew him. Gerald is survived by his wife of 38-years, Diane Leathers-Alarcon; their daughter Janelle Garcia, and husband Charles; daughter Geralynn; daughter Cheri; grandson Charlie; granddaughter Angelique; his siblings Mary Helen, Daniel and Ignacio Alarcon; mother-in-law Juanita G. Leathers; and an abundance of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Ismael A. Alarcon, mother Tillie C. Alarcon, brother Manual Lee Hernandez, sister Edwina Borgel, brother Ismael "Myito" Alarcon and father-in-law David C. Leathers. Gerald's "Life Celebration" will begin at 6:30pm with a Viewing and Rosary on Monday, March 9th at Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Drive SW. Gerald's Final Visitation and Mass will begin at 10:30am on Tuesday, March 10th at San Martin de Porras Catholic Church, 8321 Camino San Martin SW. Pallbearers will be Vidal Tapia, David Prawdzik, Ismael "Lee" Alarcon, Dominic Molina, Alonso Rivera and Alex Garcia. ESPARZA, KAREN Karen Esparza (8-years-old) Born: Nov. 9, 2005 Died: March 3, 2015 Parents: Soledad Flores Hernandez (mother); Erbey Esparza Duran (father); sibilings to (Karen): Yasmin Esparza and husband, Jose Parra and children Gladis Esparza and husband Chris Garcia and children: Gladis Martinez and Jesus Martinez; Johana Esparza, student at WMHS and Erbey Esparza, student at Alamosa Elementary. We want to thank Alamosa Elementary for their kindness and generosity through this trying time. We also thank the school for educating our children. GARCIA, MILLICENT N. Millicent Garcia "Millie" Age 96, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, entered eternal life on Sunday, March 1, 2015. She passed peacefully with her loving family by her side. Born on January 25, 1919 to Elvira and Joseph Martin, Millicent grew up in Los Griegos. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rosendo Garcia; her sister, Geneva Padilla, and her brothers, Lloyd and Clem Martin. She will be greatly missed by her surviving eight children, Olympia Salas, Clorinda Towle, Priscilla Garcia, JoAnn Muller, MaryAnn Withrow, Ross Garcia, Steve Garcia and Cheryl Garcia; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Corliss Padilla, and many friends. Millicent Garcia retired from the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office after 17 years of service. She could be counted on to "tell it like it is" and was always a source of advice. Millicent was an exceptional cook and gardener, she loved to crochet and enjoyed dancing. The family would like to thank the Presbyterian Hospice team for the care and support they provided to our mother. Rosary will be recited Friday, March 6, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Drive SW, in Albuquerque. FLORES, MARY ASCENCIO In celebration of a life that touched all she embraced Mary was born in Silver City, NM on May 3rd, 1935. After she graduated from St. Mary's Academy, she moved to Deming, NM where she met and married the love of her life, Samuel Flores. They were married in 1954, started a family, and moved to Las Cruces, NM in 1958 where Mary worked with social services. Moving their family to Albuquerque, NM in 1976, she was able to continue her work as a social worker and retired after 35 years of service. Sam and Mary had nine biological children, but Mary was a mother to many more, most of all including Richard Ortiz, and Alfred and Leo Morris. Mary was pre-deceased by her parents, Jose and Maria Ascencio, Guadalupe and Matias Rivera; three brothers and one sister; and her son, Orlando Rene Flores. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother who is survived by four brothers and three sisters; her beloved husband of 60 years, Sam Flores; and her children, Dolores Vigil and her husband Tom Vigil, Katherine Flores, Jimmy Flores and his wife Olga Flores, Erabella Aragon, Cecilia Flores, Samuel Flores Jr. and wife Rebecca Garcia, Orlando's wife, Dolores Flores, Teresa Flores, and Raquel Flores; also leaving her legacy in her 39 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren, and much more of her family. Mary was a devout member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church and a part of the Spanish choir. She passed away peacefully, at the age of 79, in her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 1st, 2015. Rosary and Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 6th, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 815 Guaymas Pl NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
