BAZAN, SISTO Age 76, a gentle soul departed to be with the Lord on February 28, 2015. He was born in Corrales, NM and resided in Albuquerque. Sisto was a beloved husband, devoted father and grandfather. Is proceeded in death by his son Michael Sisto Bazan. He is survived by loving wife Christine Bazan. CHAVEZ, EQUILDA L. age 72, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM and a lifelong member of Los Padillas, passed away, Saturday, February 28, 2015. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Fred; children, Joseph M. Chavez and wife, Geri, Fred Anthony, Rebecca C. Ortega, and Elizabeth L. Chavez; sister, Demecia Sanchez and husband, Leo; grandchildren, Richard Chavez, Jaclynn Chavez, Anastacia Madrid, Andre Madrid, Channing Chavez, David Chavez, Christopher Chavez, Riley Chavez, Tamara Madrid, Julia Chavez, Levi Chavez, Olivia Chavez, Estevan Madrid, Paloma Ortega, Carmen Ortega, Avelino Chavez, and Monica Chavez; great-grandson, Anykin Madrid; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. FLORES, MARY ASCENCIO In celebration of a life that touched all she embraced Mary was born in Silver City, NM on May 3rd, 1935. After she graduated from St. Mary's Academy, she moved to Deming, NM where she met and married the love of her life, Samuel Flores. They were married in 1954, started a family, and moved to Las Cruces, NM in 1958 where Mary worked with social services. Moving their family to Albuquerque, NM in 1976, she was able to continue her work as a social worker and retired after 35 years of service. Sam and Mary had nine biological children, but Mary was a mother to many more, most of all including Richard Ortiz, and Alfred and Leo Morris. Mary was pre-deceased by her parents, Jose and Maria Ascencio, Guadalupe and Matias Rivera; three brothers and one sister; and her son, Orlando Rene Flores. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother who is survived by four brothers and three sisters; her beloved husband of 60 years, Sam Flores; and her children, Dolores Vigil and her husband Tom Vigil, Katherine Flores, Jimmy Flores and his wife Olga Flores, Erabella Aragon, Cecilia Flores, Samuel Flores Jr. and wife Rebecca Garcia, Orlando's wife, Dolores Flores, Teresa Flores, and Raquel Flores; also leaving her legacy in her 39 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren, and much more of her family. Mary was a devout member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church and a part of the Spanish choir. She passed away peacefully, at the age of 79, in her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 1st, 2015. GARCIA, MILLICENT N. Millicent Garcia "Millie" Age 96, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, entered eternal life on Sunday, March 1, 2015. She passed peacefully with her loving family by her side. Born on January 25, 1919 to Elvira and Joseph Martin, Millicent grew up in Los Griegos. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rosendo Garcia; her sister, Geneva Padilla, and her brothers, Lloyd and Clem Martin. She will be greatly missed by her surviving eight children, Olympia Salas, Clorinda Towle, Priscilla Garcia, JoAnn Muller, MaryAnn Withrow, Ross Garcia, Steve Garcia and Cheryl Garcia; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Corliss Padilla, and many friends. Millicent Garcia retired from the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office after 17 years of service. She could be counted on to "tell it like it is" and was always a source of advice. Millicent was an exceptional cook and gardener, she loved to crochet and enjoyed dancing. The family would like to thank the Presbyterian Hospice team for the care and support they provided to our mother. GARRITY, PATRICIA ANNE Left us at the age of 84 to rest in the Lord on Friday, February 27, 2015, with her family by her side. A resident of Albuquerque since 1974, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John "Jack" Garrity; her parents, Agnes and Lawrence O'Leary; and brother, Daniel O'Leary; and great-grandson, Christian Garrity. She was born in Chicago, IL in 1930 to Agnes and Lawrence O'Leary. She is survived by her nine children, Brian, Jeanne and husband, Jose Senaro, Fr. Sean, Emmett and wife, Patti, Kevin and wife, Michelle "Mitch", Patrick and wife, Becky, Marianne and husband, Vern Wood, Michael and wife, Deidre and daughter Sharon and husband David Hebert; 24 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; her brothers, Timothy O'Leary and Lawrence O'Leary; sister, Therese Rose and husband, Jack; and 53 nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. Patricia was married for 56 years. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. Patricia grew up in the Chicago area where she attended Catholic grade school and high school. In her early parenting days she volunteered on Sunday's to teach Catechism to children. Patricia was an artist, avid painter, and gardener and loved the outdoors. Patricia is remembered by friends as always having both an open heart and door to those in need. A Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. followed by Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH -Lomas. GILMAN, JAMES WILBUR James Wilbur Gilman died Sunday, March 1, 2015 in Westfield, MA surrounded by loved ones. Son of John and Amelia Gilman, he was born in Pepperell, MA March 23, 1920 where he graduated from high school in 1938. He enrolled at Massachusetts State College in Amherst, MA where he played football, was Cadet Colonel of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps and took his BS degree in Chemistry in 1942. He married Harriet Kelso of Chester, MA February 27, 1943 and they had two sons, James and Lee. Jim was commissioned Second Lieutenant U.S. Army, Cavalry, and reported for duty at Fort Riley, KS where he graduated from the Cavalry Officers' Basic Course. During WWII he was assigned to the 16th Cavalry Group for the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. In November 1945, he was recruited to be Executive Officer, 3rd Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment and provided all necessary military and logistic support for the Nuremburg War Crimes Trials. During his 26 year Army career he served four tours of duty as a general staff officer in Logistics in the Pentagon, including assignment as South Asia specialist in government affairs for the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Jim commanded the 33rd Tank Battalion, 3rd Armored Division in Gelnhausen, Germany, was Deputy Commander of the Cam Rahn Bay Support Command in Vietnam, and was Deputy Commander of the Sentinel Anti-ballistic Missile Command in Huntsville, AL. He was a graduate of the Armored School Advanced Course, Fort Knox, KY, the Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KS, the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Fort McNair, Washington, DC. Jim earned an MBA degree from George Washington University concurrent with attending the Industrial College. Upon retiring from the Army at the rank of Colonel in 1968, he taught intermediate science in Fairfax County, VA schools for six years. In 1974, Jim and Harriet returned to Kelso Homestead Farm in Chester where he planted a blueberry orchard. He greatly enjoyed watching his blueberry dreams flourish. Active in town and community affairs, Jim was elected as a selectman for three years. As a member of First Congregational Church of Chester, he served as deacon, treasurer, moderator and trustee. Jim is survived by Harriet, the love of his life for over 72 years; son James and wife Betsy (Albuquerque, NM), son Lee and wife Bev (Charlotte, NC); grandchildren Chad and wife Laurie (Denver, CO), Connor and wife Char (Denver, CO), Adam (Denver, CO), Annie and husband Matthew Luis (Odessa, TX), Seth (Albuquerque, NM), Michelle and husband Jason Cohen (Oak Park, IL), Jackson and wife Amanda (Memphis, TN); and great-grandchildren Jonah, Ben, Grant, and Emmett. Interment of ashes with full military honors will be followed by a memorial service at First Congregational Church of Chester on June 6, 2015. HAIK, ELAINE L. Elaine Louise Haik, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on February 26, 2015 at the age of 54. She was a bright and beautiful woman with a generous spirit and a loving nature. Although she will be dearly missed by her family and friends, she is now at peace and will live forever in their hearts. Elaine graduated with honors from Youngstown State University. She had a long and successful career at Honeywell Aerospace in computer engineering and quality control, and at the same time pursued studies in accounting, mathematics, and microbiology. She loved flowers and was a Master Gardner. Elaine was born on September 30, 1960 in Sharon, Pennsylvania, to Harold and Irene Dolata Chovan. She is survived by her loving husband Daniel Haik; her mother Irene Chovan of Sharon, PA; her sisters Margaret Chovan of Sharon, PA, Teresa Mulligan and husband Michael of Fairfield, PA, Janice Gathers and husband Bill of Canfield, OH; her brothers Dennis Chovan and wife Dianne of Lucas, TX, Gary Chovan and wife Michelle of Center Valley, PA; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. LEWIS, SYLVIA RUTH Sylvia Ruth Lewis, age 81, of Gran Quivira, New Mexico passed away on Sunday March 1, 2015 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was the daughter of the late Virgle and Ora Mae (Wells) Johnson. Sylvia worked for the U.S. National Park Service for over 30 years before she retired. She had an unwavering faith in God and was a devout member of the Gran Quivira Church. Sylvia enjoyed spending time with her church family and was the Secretary/ Treasurer for the church until she fell ill. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, brothers and sisters. Sylvia is survived and will forever be remembered by her sons, Virgal Mark Lewis, Karl Lee Lewis and Glenn Edwin Lewis. She was blessed with several beautiful grandchildren and great- grandchildren. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Assembly of God in Mountainair, New Mexico. Graveside service to immediately follow with weather permitting.

MARTIN, OLIVIA C. Olivia C. Martin, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. Olivia was born in Veguita, New Mexico to Soloman and Nemecia Chavez. She is survived by her sons, Gary K. Martin and wife, Kari, and Karl A. Martin and wife, Anna Marie; grandchildren, Emily, Catrina, Sarah, Jenny, Irene, Gus, Karlina, Curtis and Marissa; great-grandchildren, Mia and Landon, and her sisters, Rachel Chavez and Priscilla Griego. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Soloman Chavez. MINETOS, VASSO born in Patras, Greece, on May 10, 1924, passed away peacefully at home on February, 24, 2015. Vasso is preceded in death by her husband, Chris Minetos, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Vasso is survived by her niece, Kalliope Kotsifas and her son, Efthimios Karralis. She is also survived by her nephews, Socrates and Dionisios Zacharopoulos of Munich, Germany. She is also survived by many loving friends of the St. George Greek Orthodox community. Vasso grew up in Patras, Greece, and immigrated to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1949. The legacy Vasso left behind will remain forever in the hearts of those she touched. Many west siders have fond memories of Vasso as she stood guard as owner of her beloved Panorama and Casa Grande restaurants doing what she loved most, extending her hospitality to all her patrons and serving them her famous homemade bread. In her later years, it brought Vasso great joy when someone would visit her at her home. One could never leave without having a full meal, regardless of if you were hungry or not. Even when her health had declined, her main concern was whether or not her visitors were made to feel at home with a warm meal and plenty of desserts. RAND, RUBY J. It is with our deepest sympathy to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ruby J. Rand, affectionately known as "NaNa" passed on February 28 at the family home. Ruby was born in Clarksville Texas, and later her and her family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico were they resided for over sixty years. She could always be found caring for the elderly and sheltering the homeless. Ruby owned and operated La Rue's Beauty Shop for over fifty-five years. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church until her passing. She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Patricia Banks, Renee Wilson, Kim Anthony, three sons, Joseph Banks, Phillip Banks, and Bernard Foster, 19 grandchildren, numerous great-grand children, nephews, nieces and other relatives. SAIZ, MAX G. Max G. Saiz born December 28, 1940 from Manzano, NM to Magalina Turrietta and Vicente Saiz. Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather departed his life on Monday, March 2, 2015 at UNM Hospital. He was preceded in death by his daughter Rita and son Wecee Saiz; parents Magalina and Vicente Saiz; brother Joe Saiz; mother-in-law Jackie Gabaldon; brother and sister- in-law Elane and Ralph Gabaldon, Jr. and nephew Jaycob Gabaldon. Max worked as a Mason for many years. His hobbies included fishing, caring for his garden and selling fire wood; he was loved by everyone who knew him. Max is survived by wife of 53 years, Gloria Gabaldon-Saiz; children Denise and Gilbert Cabrera, Linda Saiz and Max Saiz, Jr.; grandchildren Alice and Chris Castaneda, Amanda Saiz, Lil Gilbert Cabrera, Ryian Saiz and Lorenzo Poggio; great-grandchildren Damon, Christopher, Izaiaha, Joziah, Audrey and Nathaniel. THOMPSON, JANE CELESTE WEILLER GINS (1927-2015) Following a long & active life, Jane passed from this world on March 1, 2015, at the young age of 88. Born and raised in Albuquerque, Jane is one of few people who have lived their entire lives within a mile of where they were born. A 1945, graduate of Albuquerque High School, she was acquainted with most of the residents of our beautiful city. Her geographical radius may have been small in scope, but her interests were not as limited. Jane was a faithful daughter, dedicated mother and grandmother, respected civic leader and friend to many. Her children and extended family already miss her love, support, acceptance, and encouragement. She was truly an elegant lady who attracted attention with her passion for people and life. As she strove for excellence in all that she attempted, she expected the same from those around her. This led to her becoming president of virtually every organization she joined including Hadassah, the Temple Albert Sisterhood, and the WGA at her beloved Albuquerque Country Club among others. Jane loved golf, bridge, mahjongg, building and maintaining lifelong friendships and family relationships. She had a heart big enough to draw newcomers into established relationships and community. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Myron (Buddy) Gins, infant granddaughter, Jacqueline Gins, and her dear friend/partner in crime, Lore White. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Robert Thompson; sons Joshua Gins and wife, Maggie; Richard Gins; Rand Gins and wife, Ginny; daughter, Nancy Bain and husband, Jon; and daughter-in-law, Valerie Berg; stepsons Michael Thompson and wife, Kaye; Fred Thompson and wife, Karen; and stepdaughter Judy (Grinny) Walton and husband, David; her incredible grandchildren who were featured as she drove around town proudly sporting the "NANA12" license plate; three great-grandchildren; special cousin/sister, Celeste Mandel; and numerous dear friends and extended family. A celebration of Jane's life will be held Friday, March 6, 2015, 2:00 PM, at Congregation Albert 3800 Louisiana Blvd., NE Albuquerque, NM.

TRAMBLEY, FRANK C. Frank C. Trambley (Decky) was born on January 24, 1928, and returned home to his Heavenly Father on March 2, 2015. Decky was born to Frank Leon Trambley and Josephine Strong Trambley and had two sisters, twin Margaret (Gayle) and Jeannine. On November 9, 1953, he married the love of his life, Delicia Tafoya, married for 61 years and had six children. Decky was a very prominent businessman who bought his first property at the age of 12. He ranched, farmed and opened up his own business Decky's Meats in 1966. He loved spending time on the ranch, irrigating, baling hay, and spending time with his cattle. He was a Mora County Commissioner in the 1960's, a member of the Mora San Miguel Electric Co-op for 18 years, mayordomo of two acequias since the age of 18, a life-long Republican and Chairman of the County Republican Party in the 1950's and subsequently in the late 1960's. Decky was a life-long member of St. Gertrude's Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph; father, Frank Leon Trambley; his mother, Josephine Strong Trambley; grandson Michael Edward Meadows; father-in-law, Praxedes Tafoya; mother-in-law, Estefanita Tafoya; sister, Jeannine Martinez, brother-in-law, Ernest Martinez; twin sister, Margaret (Gayle) Lester, brother-in-law Chuck Lester; daughter-in-law, Diane (Rachel) Trambley; and his best friend Carlos Lovato, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Delicia Trambley; children: Rose Trambley; Praxedes L. Trambley, wife, Minerva; Frank Leon Trambley; Josephine Meadows, husband, Michael Meadows; Stephanie Trambley, husband, Dennis Trujillo; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Katie Martinez, husband Alfonso Martinez; little sister Josephine Vigil, husband, Benjamin Vigil; his brothers-in-law, Ernest Tafoya, Seferino Crollett, and Bonifacio Vigil; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. The Trambley family would like to thank the following caregivers that assisted: Florence Trujillo, Alice Vasquez, Virginia Trujillo, Fabby Vigil, and Shannon Maes; Esperanza, Joseph Abeyta, Antoinette Romo, and special friends, Dennis Romero, Gloria, Tom, Tom, Jr., and Daniel Gallegos. Funeral services for Mr. Trambley will be held at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Mora, NM as follows: Family viewing will begin at 5:00pm on Friday, March 6 followed by a Rosary at 7:00pm. Celebration of the funeral Mass by Father Paul Grala, SOLT is scheduled for 10:00am Saturday March 7th. Interment will follow the Mass at the Trambley Family Cemetery in Mora, NM. Serving as pallbearers will be Frank Fred Trambley, Praxedes Trambley, II, Michael Meadows, Dennis Trujillo, Ruben Trujillo, Matthew Trambley, Tom Gallegos, and Dennis Romero. VARELA, OLIVER Oliver Varela was born on Friday, February 27, 2015, at 2:58 a.m. to parents Isaac and Joy Varela. Oliver's family was blessed with nine and a half amazing hours before he peacefully passed away to his heavenly home. During his short time here on earth he touched many lives and was loved by family and friends. His life was a brief gift to us. Oliver is deeply loved by his momma and daddy, big brother Lincoln, his maternal grandparents, David and Tina Abeyta, paternal grandparents, Victor and Dyan Varela, his aunts and uncles, his cousins and many others. ZERBE, WILLIAM D. Bill Zerbe, 61, Albuquerque resident and one of the best Hammond players around, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 20 years, Bette; children, Stacy Moore (Blake), and Brandon Zerbe ( Margaret), both of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Grace, Kylee, Jordan, Blake, Jr., and Vivi; his parents Paul and Marilyn Zerbe; three sisters; Paula Carter (John), Jeanie Jones (Bill), and Debbie Zerbe (Bennie). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shannon Zerbe. Bill was born in Kansas City, MO and spent most of his high school years in San Diego. At 16 he became involved in martial arts in Kansas City eventually earning his 3rd degree black belt in Hopkito and also served his Kansas City Community as a member of the Kansas City Police Force. Among his many talents he is most known for his music. He began playing the organ in his grandfather's church in Kansas City, played during his high school in San Diego; became famous in Kansas City playing with numerous bands such as Cotton Candy and BWB Blues Band. He and Bette moved to San Francisco where he played in several bands before coming to Albuquerque where he continued to play, most recently with Mystic Vic. Bill will always be remembered for his musical talent, his kindness and compassion, and his devotion to his family.
