Castillo -- Martin E. Castillo, 79, a resident of the Albuquerque area most of his life, passed away peacefully at his home, Tuesday, May 16, 2000, after a short bout with cancer. He was surrounded by his family who included his wife of 58 years, Olivia Castillo of Albuquerque; daughters, Liz Gurule and husband, Adrian of Albuquerque and Patty Salas and husband, Dave of Rio Rancho; sons, Max Castillo and wife, Susan of Albuquerque, Marty Castillo and wife, Martha of Santa Fe, John Castillo and wife, Cecilia of Albuquerque, and Steve Castillo and wife, Diane of Rio Ranch; grandchildren, Derick, Danna, Jody and Sara Castillo, Michael and Matthew Gurule, Monica, Nicole, and Julie Salas; and sister, Catherine Toman of Albuquerque; brother, Alex Castillo and wife, Billie of Belen. Mr. Castillo was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Beatrice Castillo; brother, David Castillo; and granddaughter, Amanda Castillo. He was a WWII veteran and retired as owner of Martin's Barber Shop. Mr. Castillo was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He was active with the Bear Canyon Senior Citizens' Center and the New Mexico Senior Olympics. Everyone valued his good disposition, kind heart, and wonderful sense of humor. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 18, 2000, 9:00 a.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE, with Father William McCarren, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Derick, Danna, David, and Jody Castillo, Michael and Matthew Gurule. French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.

Ehrhart -- John Franklin Ehrhart, 21-year resident of Albuquerque and Edgewood, passed away on Sunday, May 14th, at the age of 70. John was born October 25, 1929 just outside of York, Pennsylvania. Upon graduating from William Penn Senior High School in 1947, he joined the Navy as a radioman. One of the many highlights of his 20 years in the military was his involvement in the Gemini and Apollo space programs. He began a second career, with Computer Sciences Corporation, in 1967. While there, he worked on a number of projects involving satellite communications and developed an interest in computers and programming, eventually earning a Masters degree in that area. He founded his own company, Summit Computer Systems, in 1982, specializing in software applications for medical offices. a devoted father and loving husband, he is survived by his wife, Elaine; their four sons, John Jr. of Seattle, Ken and David, both of Albuquerque, Robert of Phoenix; his eight grandchildren; and his brother, Charles"Skip" of York. He will be greatly missed.

Fletcher -- Scott V. Fletcher, 36, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, May 13, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Anne M. Fletcher of Albuquerque; son, Mark W. Fletcher of Lancaster, CA; mother, Mary L. Fletcher of Albuquerque; father, Harvey A. Fletcher of Pittsburgh, PA; brother, David A. Fletcher; and sister, Gayle Hilton, both of Albuquerque. Mr. Fletcher graduated from NMMI. he owned and operated a self storage and internet business. Mr. Fletcher was a recipient of the Jefferson Award for his participation in the rescue of Baby Jessica. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Mr. Fletcher served on the Vender's Committee for the Albuquerque Flea Market at the State Fairgrounds. Services will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper Ave. NE, with Rev. Marty Singleterry officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.

Hartman -- Grover C. Hartman, 82, a resident of Albuquerque, died, Monday, May 15, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gladys Hartman of Albuquerque; sons, Joe Hartman of San Jose, CA, Donald Hartman and wife, Celia of the Philippians and Tim Hartman of Jefferson City, MO; daughter, Judy Ruekberg and husband, Joe of San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren, Jared and Janae Ruekberg, T.J., Julia, Janet, David, Andy and Jennifer Hartman; great-grandchildren, K.J., Kenny and Jacqueline; brother, Robert Hartman and wife, Bonnie of Florida; and many other family. He was a member of Risen Savior Church. Mr. Hartman was a registered professional engineer in the State of New Mexico. He worked for Sandia National Labs for 21 years and retired, as a civil servant of the State of New Mexico after many years. Mr. Hartman served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Rosary will be recited, Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Valenzuela -- Julia G. Valenzuela, 74, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, was called home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, May 17, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Elijio M. Valenzuela; five sons, Eli G. Valenzuela Jr., Jimmy G. Valenzuela, Samuel G. Valenzuela and wife, Rachel, Francisco G. Valenzuela and wife, Dianna, and Lorenzo G. Valenzuela and wife, Elizabeth; five daughters, Annabell Leach and husband, Dean, Ortencia Gallegos and husband, Gene, Clara Casiano and husband, Ariel, Elena Zamora and husband, Jacque and Ester Valenzuela; three brothers, Lorenzo Gallego and wife, Elisa, Santiago Gallego, Celso Gallego and Ramon Gallego; four sisters, Consuelo Leyva, Chui Ramkowski and husband, Edward, Chavela Valenzuela and husband, David and Victoria Rubio and husband, Willie; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Visitations will be today from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary, located on the corner of 8th and Stover and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. also at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning, 9:30 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Desmarais -- Leo E. DesMarais, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, passed away Monday, May 15, 2000. Garcia -- Joe C. Garcia, 86, a resident of Belen, until recently, residing at Acantilado Vista Retirement Community in Rio Rancho, passed away peacefully on Mother's Day, May 14, 2000, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 23, 1914 to Dolores and Ignacio Garcia. Joe was a graduate of Saint Mary's Catholic School in Belen. He served as an usher for Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church for almost 60 years. He retired from Sandia National Labs in Albuquerque. Joe also owned and operated Hub City Electric Company in Belen. He is survived by his loving wife, Octavia of the family home in Belen; his three children, Joe Jr. and his wife, Pat, Delma Molina and her husband, Ladis, Lucille Garcia and her husband, Nick; nine loving grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; his brother, David and his wife, Frances; and his sister, Eloisa. A viewing will be held on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church.
