Anderson -- Elbert "Riley" Anderson, a resident of Espanola, NM, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2000. He was born on August 24, 1918, in Roy, NM, to Mertice Peeples and John S. Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Maryagnes Anderson; and four children, Michele Atencio and husband, John of Seattle, WA, Marcus Anderson and wife, Shirley of Abilene, TX, Colleen Buettell and husband, Roger, and Christopher Anderson, both of Rio Rancho; sister, Roberta Blades of Rifle, CO; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Riley attended NMSU and graduated with a degree in Agricultural Science and a Masters Degree in Architecture. He served in the South Pacific during WWII and participated in the Okinawa Invasion. After his separation from the Navy in 1945 he started the first Vocational Agriculture Dept. at Espanola High School. He instructed the students in all areas of agriculture sciences that would be necessary for a profitable and successful farm house. His great love was to impart to his student all the knowledge that could make them better farmers and community citizens. The State F.F.A. made him an honorary F.F.A. member, the highest honor that can be given to a teacher. He was a member of many service organizations in Espanola and served as President in each of them. Graveside services for Riley will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Wednesday, May 17, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. with James Wilkins as Officiant. Ayers -- Rosario Escribano Ayers, 81, a resident of Albuquerque for 44 years, died Monday, May 15, 2000 after a long term illness. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James B. Ayers; her daughter, Casey (Linda) Schneider; two grandsons, Jason and Travis Balderston; and two granddaughters, Paige and Delaney Schneider. Rosario was born in San Jose, Costa Rica, where she had many friends and relatives. She graduated from the Colegio de Senoritas with her classmate, Victoria de Doryan, who became Vice President of Costa Rica in 1986. She married James Ayers in Costa Rica who took her to Aruba for five years, entered the United States in 1948 and became a United States citizen in 1951. She was a model instructor for Flair Modeling School for many years. The family will have a private memorial service at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Barnes -- Hazel I. Barnes, 92, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, May 13, 2000. She is survived by her son, David S. Barnes and wife, Ann of Albuquerque; grandsons, Randy Barnes and David Barnes; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Zelpha Robertson of Iowa. Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her husband, Roy F. Chavez -- Viola Chavez, 53, passed away May 14, 2000. She was born in Socorro, she enjoyed arts and crafts, volunteered to help others, and had a great sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Filomena Padilla; brother, Johnny Tafoya; father, Jose Torres. She is survived by children, Lawrence Chavez of Albuquerque, Joe Chavez of Billings, MT; their father, Jesse Chavez; granddaughter, Mariah Chavez; mother, Frances Tafoya; sisters, Irene Torres, Pauline Saavedra of Socorro, Lena Saavedra; brothers, Valentine Saavedra, Lito Saavedra; special aunts, Anna Bullard, Angie Ulibarri, Rosie Trujillo, Terry Quintana, Tillie Padilla; special uncles, Joe Sedillo, Fidel Tafoya; numerous family and friends who loved and will miss her. Corley -- Timothy John Corley, 25, of Bradenton, Florida, died May 7, 2000 in Manatee County. Born October 4, 1974 in Albuquerque. He moved to Pacifica, California in 1986. He was employed by SecurityLink from Ameritech as an operations supervisor and relocated to Florida in 1997. He is survived by his mother, Kathleen Corley of Pacifica, CA; his father and step-mother, John P. and Sandy Corley of Sandia Park; his maternal grandparents, Alene and Nelson Bedford of Pacifica; his paternal grandmother, Mary Duke and husband, Harry of Belen; three sisters, Christine Corino of Fairfield, CA, Michelle Caldwell of Millville, CA, and Emily Corley of Tracy, CA; two brothers, Johnathan Corley and B.J. Nastasich, both of Sandia Park. Memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Belen in the chapel, 115 S. 4th St., at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, with the Rev. Englebrecht -- Laura Englebrecht, 93, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, May 14, 2000 in Farmington, New Mexico. She is survived by her son, Lloyd H. Englebrecht and his wife, Dorothy of Farmington; three grandchildren, Cindy Crook and husband, Don, Karen Krueger and husband, Bill, Diana Olson and husband, Dick; five great-grandchildren, Lynette and Suzan Crook, Jon Krueger, and Danielle and Nicholas Chamberlain; and several nieces and nephews. Laura Englebrecht was a highly respected local business woman involved in interior decorating business over the years. She was very active in many business, cultural and civic activities. She was a longtime member of the American Business Woman's Association, and supported Salvation Army, Red Cross, The Historical Society, Humane Society of NM, New Mexico Boys Ranch, and the National Federation of the Blind. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. by Pastor Jack Wheat at the Fairview Cemetery, 700 Yale SE. Fletcher -- Scott V. Fletcher, 36, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, May 13, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Anne M. Fletcher of Albuquerque; son, Mark W. Fletcher of Lancaster, CA; mother, Mary L. Fletcher of Albuquerque; father, Harvey A. Fletcher of Pittsburgh, PA; brother, David A. Fletcher; and sister, Gayle Hilton, both of Albuquerque. Mr. Fletcher graduated from NMMI. he owned and operated a self storage and internet business. Mr. Fletcher was a recipient of the Jefferson Award for his participation in the rescue of Baby Jessica. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Mr. Fletcher served on the Vender's Committee for the Albuquerque Flea Market at the State Fairgrounds. Services will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper Ave. NE, with Rev. Marty Singleterry officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Goldstein -- Stephanie Margaret Goldstein, 44, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, May 14, 2000. She is survived by her parents, Merton and Brigitte Goldstein; sister and brother-in-law, Karin and Tomas Butchart; brother, Michael Goldstein; beloved niece, Marisa Butchart; and loving friend, Mary Crenner. Stephanie suffered for more than 20 years with Multiple Sclerosis. Cremation has taken place. Hagan -- Naomi Hagan, age 85, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died May 13, 2000. She was a graduate of Albuquerque High School, Class of 1932. She owned and operated Naomi Fine Antiques for several years. She was a member of Albuquerque Antique and Modern Doll Club and Barbie Friends of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Hagan. She will be sadly missed by her friends. Lasorsa -- Nicholas Lasorsa, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many, passed away on May 14, 2000 at the age of 84. Madrid -- GINGER M. Mcmanus -- Richard"Dick" McManus, born 2/20/31 in Greenville, PA, passed away May 12, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nona McManus; son, Richard"John" McManus Jr. and wife, Bonnie of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Sharon M. Preston -- Trudy B. Preston, 50, of Mountainair, NM, passed away Monday, May 15, 2000 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, after a long battle with Leukemia. Trudy was born November 20, 1949 in Roswell, to Grant G. and Lanora Gaston Barnes. She was raised on the family farm at East Grand Plains and moved to Ruidoso in 1962, where she attended the Ruidoso High School. She had been a resident of Mountainair for nine years, she and Larry owned and operated the Harris-Hanlon Mortuaries in Mountainair and Moriarty, along with their son, Grant. Trudy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mountainair and had served as a Funeral Service Intern until her health forced her to retire. She married Larry G. Preston in Ruidoso on October 28, 1966 and he survives her of the home; other survivors include three sons, Grant G. Preston and wife, Karen of Moriarty, Sidney G. Preston and wife, DeAnna of Roswell, and Jimmy G. Preston and wife, Cindy of Moriarty; one daughter, Lavinia G. Banda and husband, Meno of Albuquerque; one sister, Treva Perry and husband, Larry of Colorado Springs, CO; mother-in-law, Joyce Preston of Roswell; sister-in-law, Connie Jarvis and husband, Gene of Ruidoso; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and father-in-law. Trudy Preston will be remembered as a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2000, at the First Baptist Church in Mountainair, with Reverends Jim Thompson, Randy Webb and Don Hayhurst officiating. Pallbearers will be Lupe Martinez, LeRoy Nix, Wayne Yeaw, Vernie Wells, Jim Edwards and Leland Riley. Trudy will lie in state at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair on Wednesday, May 17, 2000, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Thursday, May 18, 2000, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Following the services in Mountainair, she will be taken to Roswell, where she will lie in state at the Ballard Funeral Home, Friday, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Graveside Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 20, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at South Park Cemetery in Roswell. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Arnold, Harold Hobson, Raymond Otero, Rex Harris, Harold Tucker, and Harry Rogers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stanley Union Church Building Fund or the First Baptist Church of Mountainair Building Fund. The family will greet friends and family at 416 So. Seelbach -- William H. Seelbach Sr., 90, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, May 13, 2000. He is survived by his sons, William H. Seelbach Jr. of Cubero, Richard A. Seelbach of Steven City, VA and Ramon T. Seelbach of Reno, NV; sisters, Mildred J. Seelbach, and Madeline M. Nichols, both of Sun City, CA; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Agnes Seelbach in 1985. Mr. Seelbach served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Korigidor. He was a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a good fisherman and taught all his sons to fish. Services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel, 7500 Paseo del Norte NE. Summers -- Robert S. Summers, 76, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, died Saturday, May 13, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Summers of Albuquerque; sons, Gary Summers of Albuquerque, Stephen Summers of Westminister, CO and Byron Summers and wife, Susan of Divide, CO; daughter, Charlotte Summers of Seattle, WA; grandsons, Christopher Summers, Ian Summers, and Sean Summers all of Divide, CO; granddaughter, Alexa Summers of Placitas, NM; grandson, Jason Summers of TN; great-grandson, Taobear Romero of Placitas; sisters, Mary Walker and Laverne Summers of IL, and Margaret Brand of Florissant, MO. Robert was a NM State Registered Engineer and was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa. He served in the 8th Air Force after high school and saw action in WWII. He earned degrees in Engineering from the University of Kentucky and University of Florida. He was employed at Sandia National Laboratories for 42 years. Services will be Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at Heights Christian Church, 6935 Comanche NE, with Pastor Lynn Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Wichelns -- John Kneen ("Wich") Wichelns, 75, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, May 12, 2000. Wich is survived by his four children (all born in Albuquerque), Ken Wichelns of Albuquerque, Karen Weber of Pueblo, CO, Jan Cross and husband, Jai of Tijeras, NM and Jill Wichelns and husband, Richard Gabriel of Denver, CO; brother, Miles Wichelns and wife, Phyllis of Sacramento, CA; and three granddaughters, Megan Weber, Laura Gabriel, and Kathleen Gabriel. Wich was the son of Lee and Ellen Wichelns of Bridgeport, CT. He served aboard a convoy escort vessel in the American, European, and South Pacific theaters during World War II and also participated in the liberation of the Phillipines. After his discharge from the Navy, Wich attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque where he belonged to the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Following graduation he married Maureen Butterfield on October 6, 1950 in Chicago, IL. Shortly after their marriage, the Wichelns returned to Albuquerque where Wich worked at Sandia National Laboratories and Maureen founded Marketing Services of New Mexico. He served as a staff member at Sandia for 34 years, working mostly in the purchasing and computing departments. He also served as a scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America and regularly attended church at the Aquinas Newman Center. Wich and Maureen greatly enjoyed their retirement years together, traveling to many regions of the United States in their motor home and flying to Germany, England, Mexico, the Caribbean, Spain, and Canada. Maureen preceded him in death in January 1998. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2000, 2:00 p.m., at the family home.
