Joe C. Garcia, 86, a resident of Belen, until recently, residing at Acantilado Vista Retirement Community in Rio Rancho, passed away peacefully on Mother's Day, May 14, 2000, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 23, 1914 to Dolores and Ignacio Garcia. Joe was a graduate of Saint Mary's Catholic School in Belen. He served as an usher for Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church for almost 60 years. He retired from Sandia National Labs in Albuquerque. Joe also owned and operated Hub City Electric Company in Belen. He is survived by his loving wife, Octavia of the family home in Belen; his three children, Joe Jr. and his wife, Pat, Delma Molina and her husband, Ladis, Lucille Garcia and her husband, Nick; nine loving grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; his brother, David and his wife, Frances; and his sister, Eloisa. A viewing will be held on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. also at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM.
