Woken -- DuWayne L. Woken, age 77, passed away Friday at a local hospital. He is survived by his wife Viola Woken of Albuquerque; daughters Lorrie Wolkin of Colorado Springs, CO, Joan Tejada of Albuquerque and Deanna Maher of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Kathryne Peterson and Beverly Woken both of Minnesota; five brothers, Robert Woken of Canada, Miles Woken of California, Eldon and Leroy Woken of Minnesota, and Jack Woken of Kansas. DuWayne is also survived by three step-children, Joseph Holloway and wife, Amy Wyman, Rob Holloway, and Angelique Carr and husband, Rick Carr; six grandchildren, Chad Tajada, Kyle Holloway, Austin Ginn, Brittany Woken Weidlich, Adam Woken Weidlich and Caleb Holloway, and numerous nieces and nephews. he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Woken; siblings, Peter Wolken and Willard Wolkin. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, and belonged to the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was also a Navy pilot from 1942-1946. DuWayne's hobbies were traveling and gardening. Visitation will be Monday, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Strong-Thorne's Palm Chapel, with Funeral Service Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Rev. Randy Walquist officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Joseph Holloway, Rob Holloway, Randy Randel, Rick Carr, Mike Johnson, and Joseph Cordova. Martinez -- Paula Martinez, 45, a beloved and devoted daughter, sister, and auntie went to walk with the Lord, on Saturday, October 16, 1999. Mrs. Martinez was a life long resident of Albuquerque; and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She is survived by her loving father, Robert E. Martinez; two brothers, Felix Martinez and Peter Martinez and wife, Juanita; six sisters, Beatrice Candelaria and husband, Solano, Mary Splichal and husband, Michael, Emily Cordova and husband, Jerry, Joanna Lewis, Bernice Martinez, and Yolanda Martinez. She is also survived by eight nieces and seven nephews. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Visitations will be held Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary on the corner of 8th and Iron, an Evening Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church. A Church Service will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Felix Martinez, Peter Martinez, Steven Sanchez, Robert Sanchez, Solano Candelaria, Jerry Cordova, Chad Eldridge, and Warren Lewis. Storey -- Tod N. Storey, 30 years of age, a resident of Pecos, New Mexico, passed away on October 15, 1999. Tod worked for the New Mexico Game and Fish Department where he was involved in the Bernardo Wildlife Refuge, W.S. Huey Waterfowl Area, 7 Rivers Waterfowl Area, and Lisboa Springs Fish Hatchery projects. He is survived by his wife, Felicia Storey and his son, Tanner and daughter, Qye Storey; his mother, Jeanette March and her husband, Joe; his father, Kenneth Storey; his sisters, Kenna Storey and her son, Whit Storey; and Rena Storey and her son, Calahan Storey. There will be a viewing on Sunday, October 17, 1999 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be on Monday, October 18, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home. Gonzales -- Matilda Cordova Gonzales, age 92, passed away on Friday, October 8, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel M. Gonzales and daughter, Toni Montano. She is survived by three daughters, Anna Linthicum of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Nester Castillo of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Patricia Burlingame of Albuquerque, New Mexico; three sons, Edward C. Gonzales and wife, Betty L. of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Desi Gonzales of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Julian Gonzales of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. She was a life long resident of New Mexico, and a member of San Felipe Church. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave SE on Sunday, October 10, 1999. Maestas -- Jose Manuel"Melito" Maestas Jr., age 71, passed away September 28, 1999, at an Albuquerque hospital following an illness. Melito was born March 21, 1928 in Colonias, NM to the home of Manuel and Antonia Sanchez Maestas. He was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. He served in the United States Army from 1946 through 1948. He married Angela Dimas on April 21, 1952 in Santa Rosa. Melito served as Guadalupe County Clerk for four years, and served as the Postmaster for the Santa Rosa Post Office for 27 years, retiring in 1983. He served as a board member for the Santa Rosa Consolidated schools, and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish, where he was active in the adult choir. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5146, the VFW, and the American Legion. Melito enjoyed politics, the NFL, playing his harmonica, and cooking. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and will truly be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Pat Maestas; two sisters, Tonie Serrano and Mary Cordova; a brother, Alfred Maestas; and his mother-in-law, Mary Dimas. Survivors include his wife, Angela of the family home in Santa Rosa; his children, Connie Cave and husband, Dewey of Albuquerque, Michael Maestas and wife, Sylvia of Santa Rosa, Manny Maestas and wife, Cathy of Idaho Falls, ID, Jerry Maestas and wife, Veronica of Las Vegas, NM, Theresa Fresenius and husband, Steve of Seal Beach, CA, Larry Maestas of Albuquerque, Juanita Morales and husband, Victor of Laguna Negal, CA, Anita Hermann and husband, Ira of Seal Beach, CA, Tina Maestas and Victor Anaya of Albuquerque; two sisters, Ramona Gutierrez of Santa Rosa, Helen Cordova of Las Vegas, NV; a step-sister, Evelyn Carter of Albuquerque; and his step-mother, Celia Maestas of Albuquerque; his aunts, Aurora Sanchez and husband, Benny of Santa Fe and Emily Del Bagetto of Daly City, CA. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services were conducted on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel. A second Rosary will be recited on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. from the St. Rose Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. also from St. Rose of Lima Church with Father Bill Sanchez officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are his grandsons, Jose Maestas, Allen Cave, Cameron Cave, Joseph Cave, Christopher Maestas and John Maestas. Jaramillo -- Frank A."Cuervo" Jaramillo, 69, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, September 23, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Prudy Jaramillo of Albuquerque; daughters, Marie Cordova, Sylvia Maestas and husband, Steve, Barbara Gonzales and fiancee, Rigo Romero, and Wanda Arellano and husband, Ray; sons, Martin Jaramillo, Joe Jaramillo, Richard Jaramillo and wife, Bonnie and Ben Lopez and wife, Sally; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Henry Jaramillo and wife, Priscilla and Paul Jaramillo and wife, Betty; sisters, Lucy Candelaria and Placida Lovato, all of Albuquerque; and many other family members and friends. Mr. Jaramillo was preceded in death by his grandson, Richard Jaramillo; and son-in-law, Richard Cordova. He was a parishioner and an usher at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mr. Jaramillo was a member of the American GI Forum. He worked for the City of Albuquerque and retired after 36 years. After his retirement he worked as a school crossing guard at Monte Vista Elementary. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 5:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
