Atwood -- Stephen Lambert Atwood, age 53, of Paradise Valley, passed away on September 27, 1999, results of a rafting accident. Mr. Atwood was in Army National Guard and an owner of an advertising agency. He loved river rafting, and his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Nanci; and daughter, Sarah; one brother, James Atwood of Albuquerque. Memorial service will be Friday, October 1, 1999, 5:00 p.m., at the Kilgore Chapel-Valley Presbyterian Church, 6947 E. McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley. Badgett -- Robert H. Badgett, 68, died Tuesday, September 28, 1999, after a lengthy fight with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Christina Badgett of Albuquerque; sons, Lon Badgett and wife, Maria of Austin, TX, Bret Badgett and wife, Carol of Los Lunas, NM; daughters, Ann Badgett of Tucson, AZ and Ameka Mobley and husband, Mike of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Walter Badgett and Richard Badgett, both of Austin, TX; Jeremy Badgett and Samantha, both of Los Lunas, NM, and Kyra Mobley of Amarillo, TX; sisters, Francis Allen of Maryville, TN and Martha Price of Friendsville, TN; sisters-in-law, Vera Berg of Alexandria, VA and Sharon Berg of Danville, IN; 11 nieces and nephews; numerous cousins; and his faithful dog, Omar. He was born and raised in the town of Maryville in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains of East Tennessee. After enlisting in the early years of the United States Air Force, he was stationed at Scott Force Base in Illinois where he met and married a beautiful young Airman named Christina with whom he spent the rest of his life. They traveled the world, raised a family, and finally retired in Albuquerque after a 28-year career. During his military years, he was an Independent Duty Medic, one of about 200 trained in this precursor of the Physician's Assistant Program. He later served as a Superintendent of Nursing and Professional Services. He enjoyed a subsequent career as the Assistant Director of Albuquerque Ambulance and in later years participated as a volunteer for the Red Cross. He was a graduate of Maryville High School and he held a Bachelor degree from the University of Albuquerque and a Master's degree from Webster University. He instilled a keen love of learning in his children and set a continual example of dedication, public service, and Christian fellowship in his professional and private life. He served as the lay leader for a small group of Lutheran families stationed in Libya in the early 1960's and was the kind and supportive friend of virtually everyone who ever knew him. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Sunday, October 3, 1999, 2:00 p.m., at Faith in Christ Lutheran Church, 1750 Faith Court at the corner of Chelwood and Indian School Rd. NE, with Rev. Roger Wohletz officiating. Brazie -- Arland F. Brazie, Lt. Col. (Ret.), USAF, 84, an Albuquerque resident since 1951, died Wednesday, September 29, 1999. Mr. Brazie is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ardyth Brazie of the family home; and a sister, Natalie Seaman of Florida. He was retired from the US Air Force in 1963 after 26 years of service. He was a pilot during WWII and also was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Lt. Col. Brazie was commissioned in the USAF as a pilot in 1943 and he flew 25 B-17 missions from England against Germany. He was a C-54 Pilot on the Berlin Airlift in 1948, and later commanded an Air Station in Japan during the Korean War. He served with the Air Reserve and Development Command in the late 50's at Kirtland AFB, Baltimore, MD, and Cape Canaveral, FL, from where he flew C-54's and C-121's, Down Range Missile Areas. Returning to KAFB, he was on a staff of the AF Special Weapons Center until he retired. His decorations included the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Legion of Merit. He was a graduate of St. Michael's College, now known as the University of Albuquerque. He taught in the APS system for three years, before going into private business. He was a member of the Didalians Society, and the Quite Birdman. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 4, 1999, at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Chaplain Lemuel Boyles, Col. (Ret.), USAF, officiating. Interment of cremains will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery with full Military Honors by the New Mexico Honor Guard. D'amour -- Chris Paul D'Amour, 41, a resident of Santa Fe, passed away on Sunday, September 26th at UCLA Medical Center. He is survived by his two children, Leo and Melodie. Other surviving family members include his parents, Leo and Cecelia D'Amour of Albuquerque; his sister, Louise and husband, Larry Turner; brother, Greg and wife, Melanie; brother, Ralph and wife, June; and brother, Ronald. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Kyle, Brent, Renee, Kelly, Cory, Vanessa, Dustin and Shane. A Rosary will be held on Friday, October 1st at 7:30 p.m. A Memorial Mass, in celebration of his life, will be held on Saturday, October 2nd at 10:30 a.m. Both services will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church (corner of Morningside and Lomas NE, Alb.) Deerinwater -- Mary K. (Weigel) Deerinwater passed away Saturday, September 25, 1999. She was born March 22, 1949 to William E. and Dorothy R. Weigel. Her husband, George E. Deerinwater; her father, William E. Weigel of Sedona, AZ; her brother, Dr. William L. Weigel and wife, Miko of Silverdale, WA; and her step-sons, Jeffery Deerinwater and Ryan Deerinwater of Albuquerque, survive her. Her special friends, Karen, Cara and Anna also survive her. Mary was a pilot for PNM, UNMH Lifeguard, and Ross Aviation. She was also a student at UNM, studying computer programming. In addition to her work, Mary loved sailing, fishing and gardening. She was a great lady who touched many lives. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 2, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at a private residence, 10600 Del Rey NE. Gonzales -- Angelina G. Gonzales, 65, a lifelong resident of the east mountains area, died September 29, 1999. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Fermin C. Gonzales Sr. of the family home; daughter, Dora McComb and husband, Lewis Jr. of Albuquerque; sons, Rudy Gonzales, Clifford Gonzales and wife, Diane, and Fermin G. Gonzales Jr., all of Tijeras; grandchildren, Beverly Chavez, Ida McComb, Ivy Gonzales, and Mario Gonzales; sister, Margaret Francia of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Emilia Pino of Albuquerque; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ruben Griego; and parents, Merced and Ida Chavez Griego. Mrs. Gonzales was a member of Holy Child Catholic Church. She was a very giving person to her family and friends and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Howard -- Thelma Howard, age 72, a resident of New Mexico for 60 years, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 1999. She was preceded in death by her father, Jake Haverstick. She is survived by her 97 year old mother, Fay Haverstick; her children, Jimmy Tunnell and wife, Debbie, Bobby Tunnell and wife, Lanell, Shirley Miller, Jerry Clifford, Faneta Houston and husband, Sam, Johnny Clifford and wife, Barbara, Skeeter Applegate and husband, Burl; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Nerhood and husband, Rick; and brother, Virgil Haverstick and wife, Sylvia; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses of Regina, NM. She was a rancher and did volunteer work for the Fire Department, and a member of Cowbelles. She lived her life for her children, grandchildren, enjoying BBQ, boating, and picnicking. She owned the original Coon Holler, where Glenn Campbell got his start. Ingle -- Charles A. Ingle, 74, a resident of Albuquerque, died September 29, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Doris Ingle of Albuquerque; children, Rick Ingle and wife, Kristi, Cynthia Kiraly and husband, Eric, Jerryl Ingle, Ron Ingle, all of Albuquerque, Don Ingle and wife, Gloria of Liberty Hill, TX and Keith Ingle and wife, Michelle of Albuquerque; brothers, Walter Ingle and wife, Maxine of Clovis and James Ingle and wife, Alyce of Hobbs; sister, Bobby Maye Stemsrud and husband, Dennis of Las Cruces; grandsons, Jeff Kiraly and wife, Janette, Jeremy Ingle, James Ingle and Scott Ingle; granddaughters, Kariann Kiraly, Kristy Wimberly and husband, Sheldon, Jessica Ingle and Theresa Ingle; great-grandchildren, Trey Watson and Kylee Kiraly; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ingle was born on November 20, 1924 in Albuquerque. He moved to Estancia in 1933 and graduated from Estancia High School in 1942. He married Doris Jean Dodds in 1943. Mr. Ingle served his country in the Navy during World War II. He attended Eastern New Mexico University in 1948 and graduated in 1953. He taught school in California for two years until he returned to Albuquerque. He began teaching at Montgomery Elementary School in 1958 and taught there for 11 years, then transferred to Jackson High School, where he taught for 17 years. During his first years of teaching he was very active with A.C.T.A. In 1948 he was ordained a Deacon in the Southern Baptist Church and continued to be active in his home church. Services will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at Highland Baptist Church, 417 Palomas Dr. SE, with Pastor Winfred Walker officiating. Maestas -- Jose Manuel"Melito" Maestas Jr., age 71, passed away September 28, 1999, at an Albuquerque hospital following an illness. Melito was born March 21, 1928 in Colonias, NM to the home of Manuel and Antonia Sanchez Maestas. He was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. He served in the United States Army from 1946 through 1948. He married Angela Dimas on April 21, 1952 in Santa Rosa. Melito served as Guadalupe County Clerk for four years, and served as the Postmaster for the Santa Rosa Post Office for 27 years, retiring in 1983. He served as a board member for the Santa Rosa Consolidated schools, and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish, where he was active in the adult choir. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5146, the VFW, and the American Legion. Melito enjoyed politics, the NFL, playing his harmonica, and cooking. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and will truly be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Pat Maestas; two sisters, Tonie Serrano and Mary Cordova; a brother, Alfred Maestas; and his mother-in-law, Mary Dimas. Survivors include his wife, Angela of the family home in Santa Rosa; his children, Connie Cave and husband, Dewey of Albuquerque, Michael Maestas and wife, Sylvia of Santa Rosa, Manny Maestas and wife, Cathy of Idaho Falls, ID, Jerry Maestas and wife, Veronica of Las Vegas, NM, Theresa Fresenius and husband, Steve of Seal Beach, CA, Larry Maestas of Albuquerque, Juanita Morales and husband, Victor of Laguna Negal, CA, Anita Hermann and husband, Ira of Seal Beach, CA, Tina Maestas and Victor Anaya of Albuquerque; two sisters, Ramona Gutierrez of Santa Rosa, Helen Cordova of Las Vegas, NV; a step-sister, Evelyn Carter of Albuquerque; and his step-mother, Celia Maestas of Albuquerque; his aunts, Aurora Sanchez and husband, Benny of Santa Fe and Emily Del Bagetto of Daly City, CA. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services were conducted on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel. A second Rosary will be recited on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. from the St. Rose Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. also from St. Rose of Lima Church with Father Bill Sanchez officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are his grandsons, Jose Maestas, Allen Cave, Cameron Cave, Joseph Cave, Christopher Maestas and John Maestas. Morfin -- The Angels in Heaven grew lonely and called Gary Morfin Jr., infant, so that he may be cradled in the Lord's arms. He leaves behind, with broken hearts, his loving parents, Gary Morfin and Paula Blea-Morfin; his paternal grandparents, Gary and Colette Morfin, Julie and Mike Bangert; maternal grandparents, Robert and Ramona Blea; his uncle, Roberto Blea; aunts, Marguerite Blea, Melissa Morfin, Jessika Morfin, Kristal Morfin and Brittany Morfin. Also surviving are his maternal great-grandmother, Agnes Sanchez; paternal great-grandparents, Eliseo and Eufemia Jacquez, Sergio and Julia Morfin; paternal great-great-grandparents, Beatrice Salazar, Sergio and Adelina Chacon. Gary will be greatly missed by his loving family, who waited so long to be part of his life. Padilla -- Vincent Padilla Sr., 68, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on September 30, 1999. Mr. Padilla is survived by two daughters, Mary Olivas and husband, Larry and Rita Silva and husband, Oscar; two sons, Vincent Padilla Jr. and wife, Jeanie, and Michel Padilla; five grandsons, Larry and wife, Monica, Randy and wife, Lynda, Mark and wife, Renee, Amarante (Monte) and wife, Kathy, and Anthony; five great-grandchildren, Jocob, Hayley, RaeAnn, Zachary and Joshua; two sisters, Helen LeBeau and Abelita Roybal and husband, Ernest; one brother, David Padilla; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Padilla was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; and his parents, Felipe and Maria Padilla. Mr. Padilla was a member of the Catholic Church, Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of the American Legion. Roper -- Mable Lou Roper, 74, beloved wife and mother, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, went to be with her Savior, Tuesday, September 28, 1999. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Louis C. Roper of Albuquerque; one son, Louis C. Roper, Jr. and wife, Sarah of Honolulu, HI; two daughters, Carol L. Roper of Aurora, CO and Gail E. Salazar and husband, Tom of Edgewood; granddaughter, Rachel Roper of Honolulu, HI; sister, Carol Lee Rife and husband, Lowell of Mesa, AZ; and sister-in-law, Louise McClelland of Denver, CO. Mrs. Roper worked as a bookkeeper for over 25 years. She had been a member of Hoffmantown Baptist Church since 1953, teaching children's Sunday School for over 30 years, as well as working with the G.A.'s and Acteen's mission organizations. Mrs. Roper also led the Backyard Bible Club for her neighborhood. Saiz -- Mrs. Senaida L. Saiz (Sadie), age 84, passed away September 28, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. Saiz; and her daughter, Antonia Saiz. She is survived by one daughter, Rayna Lucero and husband, Tony of Albuquerque; three sons, Orlando Saiz and wife, Lola of Albuquerque, Elex Saiz of Albuquerque, and Leroy Saiz and wife, Patti of Amarillo, TX; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Senaida had a flair for life and a sense of humor. She enjoyed gardening and took particular pride of the roses the grew. A lifelong resident of Alameda, she was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where she participated in the Altar Rosary Society. She retired as Head Baker from Taylor Middle School in 1986 after 18 years of dedicated service. She was a great mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed, but dearly remembered by her family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this morning, 10:00 a.m., at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. Taylor -- Howard L. Taylor, 91, died September 25, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Darline A. Taylor. By his request, there will be no services. His cremains will be placed at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Cremation provided by Sunrise Society, (891-8200).
