SEYMOUR -- Jean Parrish Seymour, well known southwestern landscape artist and daughter of the famous illustrator, Maxfield Parrish, passed away quietly on November 19, 2004 at the Albuquerque Care Center where she had been a resident for four years. She was 93. Jean was born in Cornish, New Hampshire in the heyday of the flourishing art colony. She came in 1937 to Albuquerque, New Mexico, as the bride of Augustus T. (Joe) Seymour. They had one daughter, Anne. Their marriage came to an end in 1949, and this marked the beginning of Jean's long artistic career. She always painted under her maiden name, Jean Parrish. Occasionally her paintings can be found for sale on the Internet, but the vast majority of her work is still in private collections. Jean is survived by her daughter, Anne Seymour Heard; son-in-law, John Heard; two grandsons, David and Theodore Heard; granddaughter-in-law, Julieta; and two great-grandchildren, Andre and Camila. In accordance with Jean's wishes, her passing and her life will be celebrated with a festive gathering to be held in mid-January when her son-in-law will be back in country to participate. GEORGE -- Evaristo George, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, passed away on November 20, 2004 at his home. Evaristo is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Salome; six children Evaristo Daniel George, and wife Janis; Henry L. George and wife Nancy; Kathleen M. Sisneros, and husband Al; Rosalie George, Debra Jones; Frances Eva Baca; and husband Eddie; Robert Ruben George and wife Julia; eleven grandchildren; Jeri Lynn May; Danetta Doreen Valdez; Damon George Martinez; Joetta L. Alcalde, Henry L. George Jr., David Daniel Sisneros, Trina Ann Morella, Laura Annette Baca, Michelle Renee Motelet, Edward Jacob Baca, Justine Vanessa George; ten great grandchildren Linda Marie Drummond, Jordan Nicholas Valdez, McKenzie Brianna May, Lance Alexander Martinez, Justice M. Vasquez, Jillian Nichol Valdez, Colbie Marie May, Darian Ashley Martinez, Kathryn Cordelia Alcalde, Leandra Roshelle Motelet; one sister Beatrice Myers. Evaristo served in the U. S. Army during World War II, he was a member of the DAV, and Purple Heart. His most proud accomplishments during his life is his loving family. A visitation was held from the Chapel of Fitzgerald and Son, Tuesday, November 23, 2004 from 2:00 p.m. until time of prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service for Mr. George will be Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Second Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Robert Woodruff officiating. LOVATO -- JOSEPHINE V. Mrs. Josephine (Fita) V. Lovato, 86, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on November 22, 2004 with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Lovato is survived by her daughter, Eileen Valdez; her sons, Frank Lovato and wife, Hope and James Lovato and wife, Lupe; nineteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; her special niece, Melba Jiron and family; many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mrs. Lovato was preceded in death by her husband, Demecio Lovato; her sisters, Lucinda Sanchez and Virginia Herrera; her brothers, Onofre Vallejos and Joe Vallejos; her son in law, Ted Valdez. Mrs. Lovato was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW. Final visitation will be Friday, November 26, 2004 from 12:00 noon until 12:30 p.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. by Father Daniel Balizan. A committal service will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Richard Valdez, Joseph Valdez, Patrick Lovato, James Lovato Jr., Frank Lovato Jr., and Jerry Lovato. KURTZ -- Shonita Sandoval Kurtz, 98, a long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2004. She is survived by her children, Alejandro "Alex" Martinez and wife, Dorothy of Ft. Lupton, CO, LeRoy L. Sandoval and wife, Jo of Albuquerque, and Laura M. Randall and husband, Kenneth of Rio Rancho; grandchildren, Elizabeth Martin and husband, David, Kathy Graham and husband, Jim, Ruby Mae Williamson, Alex Sandoval, Leslie Sandoval and wife, Sandra, Sean J. Randall and wife, Michelle, Teri L. Randall, Sheri M. Collins and husband, Rob, and Melody A. Randall; great-grandchildren, Amy and Rachel Martin, Ryan and Taylor Williamson, Devin and Jason Randall, and Kenneth Collins; and numerous nieces and nephews. DURAN -- Antonio (Tony) Duran, 90, died Saturday, November 20, 2004. A life-long resident of New Mexico and grand storyteller, Tony was a 1936 McCurdy Mission graduate. Born to Lucia and Rafael Duran in Rodarte, he is survived by his daughter Concha Brown and husband Raymond, Doris June Moreno and husband Ben; sons, David and wife Judy, and Charles; grandchildren, Claudia, Maria, Kathleen, Jessica, Rebecca, Kelly, Ariel, Heather, and Loida Moreno; great grandchildren, AnnJeanette, Cody, Bethany, Joshua, Drake, Chamario, and Karletta; stepsister, Lena Goodheart; sisters-in-law, Teresina and Seferina, and many nieces and nephews. Tony was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy (Barnes), infant daughter Mary Margaret, grandson Fred, sister Soledea, brothers, Telesfor, Precopio, and Dennis, and stepbrothers Amadeo, Frank, and Avenicio Lucero. The family is grateful for the loving assistance of Meals on Wheels, Odyssey Hospice, and members of Cristo del Valle Church. FITZGERALD -- William Roy Fitzgerald, 89, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, November 19, 2004. Roy was born in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas on July 5, 1915. He was a veteran of World War II, serving several months in the Philippine Islands. Roy moved to Albuquerque in September 1956 and worked 26 years for Genuine Parts Co., retiring March 31, 1982. He was a member of First Baptist Church for 48 years, where he served as a choir member and Deacon Emeritus. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Beatrice S. Fitzgerald; daughter, Ann F. Harbour; grandson, Virgil G. Harbour; sister-in-law, Lucille S. Robert, all of Albuquerque; niece, Patricia Dardano of Memphis, TN; and nephew, Gerry Nash of Charlotte, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Clara F. Nash and Perle F. Stacy; two brothers, Harry and James Fitzgerald; and a grandson, James Harbour. Services will be held Monday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, with Brother James Nelson and Brother Bruce Rich officiating.
