ARMIJO -- Helen T. Armijo, 79, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, November 20, 2004. She is survived by her children, Mary Ann Gross and husband, Kenneth, Jesse Armijo and wife, Donna, Francella Inherst and husband, Roger, Rudy Armijo and wife, Maria, Gerald Armijo, Roy Armijo and wife, Christina, Genevieve Armijo, Trisha Vaughan, James Armijo and wife, Manuela, Lloyd Armijo and wife, Teresa, Yvette Gonzales and husband, Dominic, and Filbert Martinez; 37 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Adolpho Armijo and son, Antonio Armijo. Helen was a member of St. Therese Little Flower Church. She was a loving wife and mother and will be deeply missed by all of her loving family. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos NW, with James Rael reciting. ELDRIDGE -- Mildred Catherine Eldridge, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1983, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2004. Mildred was born October 19, 1916 the daughter of Melville and Mary Sharfinsky Straub in St. Louis, Missouri. She had been a telephone consultant with the Sears Company before retiring. Mildred came to New Mexico from Salina, Kansas. She was a member of the Chamisa Hills Country Club; an active bowler for many years and bowled with several leagues at the Ranchero Lanes (currently Ten Pins) in Rio Rancho. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Paul in 1990. She is survived by one daughter, Paula Fay of Albuquerque; two grandsons, Lonny of Albuquerque, and Jon-Paul and his wife Gina of Rio Rancho; two great-granddaughters, Savannah and Shelby. The Service for Mildred will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 11:30 am in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with Chaplain Jimmy Hood of Vistacare Hospice officiating. Interment will take place in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 2:00 pm. It has been suggested that contributions be made in Mildred's name to the American Heart Association, P.O. GEORGE -- Evaristo George, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, passed away on November 20, 2004 at his home. Evaristo is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Salome; six children Evaristo Daniel George, and wife Janis; Henry L. George and wife Nancy; Kathleen M. Sisneros, and husband Al; Rosalie George, Debra Jones; Frances Eva Baca; and husband Eddie; Robert Ruben George and wife Julia; eleven grandchildren; Jeri Lynn May; Danetta Doreen Valdez; Damon George Martinez; Joetta L. Alcalde, Henry L. George Jr., David Daniel Sisneros, Trina Ann Morella, Laura Annette Baca, Michelle Renee Motelet, Edward Jacob Baca, Justine Vanessa George; ten great grandchildren Linda Marie Drummond, Jordan Nicholas Valdez, McKenzie Brianna May, Lance Alexander Martinez, Justice M. KENNEDY -- Robert Allen (Bob) Kennedy, longtime resident of Dallas, Texas, died peacefully on November 20, 2004 in Albuquerque, New Mexico after a short battle with leukemia. Bob was born May 15, 1925 in Santa Ana, California, the second son of William and Edith Kennedy. His family lived in Huntington Beach, and when Bob graduated from high school, he immediately joined the U.S. Navy. Bob was sent to the University of Texas and enrolled in the V12 program. He later went on to the Naval R.O.T.C. program and graduated as an Ensign in 1945. He served as Skipper of an LCI delivering troops and supplies between the U.S. and Hawaii. He also served in the Reserves for several years. On discharge, he returned to UT/Austin to pursue B.S. degrees in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. In 1949, he married his true love, Rose Mary Thielepape of Austin, Texas. After Bob graduated, the couple moved to Massachusetts where Bob worked for General Electric. After one winter "up north," the couple returned to Austin where Bob got his Masters in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. He worked in California for a year but returned to Austin as soon as a job became available. Bob's job at Texas Power & Light Rockdale plant led to a promotion and the couple moved to Dallas, where he worked at Texas Utilities for 37 years. Bob was active in the Dallas YMCA and was on the committee that started the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot. He loved to jog, swim, cycle, hike, and camp, a love of the outdoors which he passed on to his children. Bob was a devoted Catholic and an active member of St. Monica Church. When he retired from TU in 1992, the couple moved to Albuquerque where Bob continued his outdoor activities. He participated in the cycling events in the Senior Olympics for 9 years. He and Rose Mary were volunteers for Meals on Wheels, Barrett House, RSVP, Catholic Charities and MDAA. Robert Kennedy is survived by his wife, Rose Mary, to whom he was married for 55 years; and six of their nine children: Kathy Haigler and husband, Billy, and daughter, Sadie of Pippa Passes, Kentucky; Ellen Kennedy and husband, Brad Stutzman of Georgetown, Texas; Carol Anne Kennedy and son, Jarod of Austin, Texas; Suzanne Kennedy of Austin, Texas; Chris Kennedy and wife, Lorraine of Citra, Florida; and Colleen Kennedy of San Antonio, Texas. The couple's three children, Shawn, Jason, and Jeffrey, preceded Bob in death in 1984, 1987, and 1988, respectively; as did Bob's brother, William. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, November 26, 2004, 7 pm, at the Hillcrest-Crane Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 27, 2004, 10 am, at St Monica Catholic Church. MADRIL -- Susano Madril, 87, a resident of Albuquerque for the past twenty-five years, passed away at his home on November 21, 2004. Susano was born June 16, 1917 in Duran, NM. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Cristobal and Juanita Madril; three brothers, Sabino Madril, Boney Madril, and Narciso Madril; three sisters, Ursula Garcia, Lucia Montoya, and Rosalia Roybal. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was a POW for about four and a half years during WWII and participated in the Bataan Death March. He retired from the service and later worked for the U.S. Government with the Hoof and Mouth Disease in Mexico. He then came back to the family ranching business in Duran, NM, until he moved to Albuquerque. He belonged to St. John's Catholic Church in Duran, NM, where he also belonged to the San Jose Society. When he moved to Albuquerque he belonged to Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where he was also an usher for many years. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Church, 5310 Claremont NE, Albuquerque, NM. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at Queen of Heaven Church on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 12:00 p.m. with his grand-nephew, Fr. Tim Martinez officiating. Pallbearers will be Andy Pena, Joe Sanchez, Eric Pohl, Chris Garcia, Bobby Pena, Ricky Pacheco, Charlie Anaya, and Johnny Madril. RUDOLPH -- Richard Joseph Rudolph, age 76 and a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died Saturday, November 20, 2004. Born in Palmyra, NJ, he received an A.A. degree from Temple University and then attended UNM. He was employed by KOB-TV and later, Sandia Corporation. He is survived by his wife, Ellen and three children: Marc and wife, Elaine Rudolph of Albuquerque, Ami and husband, Mark Fizgerald of Tigard, Oregon, and Meg and husband, Keith Franzen of Northbrook, Illinois; and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Murial and husband, Irv Stoops of Palmyra, NJ; plus special nieces, nephews, and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your special charity. SEXSON -- Brittney Rose Sexson, 7, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, November 19, 2004. She is survived by her parents, Steven and Jennifer Sexson; sister, Kassandra; twin brother, Drue; older brothers, Nelson and Brendon; step-brother, Lance Troxcliaer; maternal grandparents, Becky and Mike Uszuko; paternal grandparents, Sharon and Nelson Sexson; great-grandparents, Lloyd and Gladys Aker; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, all of Albuquerque. Brittney was a second grade student at Chelwood Elementary and a ballet student at Fishback Studios. She enjoyed school, the color pink, dressing up being a little princess and being with her grandma. SHORTMAN -- Hazel N. "Bubbles" Shortman, 75, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Friday, November 19, 2004. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lawrence Shortman; children, Ida Raye White, Larry Shortman, Terry Shortman and wife Lauren, Marlene Lawless and husband Freddie, W. Gerald Shortman "Dutch" and wife Deliah, Joseph Shortman, and Ronald Gene; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other family, including one uncle in Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by Clara Shawnee. Hazel was a decedent of the Cheyenne Chief White Antelope and her great grandfather Kish Hawkins, who was also a Cheyenne Chief. She was a member of the Albuquerque Indian Baptist Mission. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3100 Morris NE. THOMAS -- Mary Elizabeth Thomas, age 98, resident of Albuquerque passed away Friday, November 19, 2004. She is survived by her nieces, Tommi Lou McConnell of Austin, TX and Mary Catherine Hudson of Gray, GA; other nieces and nephews; and special friends, Arlene Cates, Mary Lou Hays and Jennie Otero, all of Albuquerque. Mary was born October 6, 1906 to Dave and Sada Thomas in Junction, TX where her parents were born and raised. When Mary finished school she worked in Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Gallup, Grants, and Santa Fe when she decided that she had changed towns enough. In 1950 Mary settled in Albuquerque to work for the University of New Mexico until her mother came to live with her. Mary quit her job to take care of her mother. After her mother passed away, Mary decided she was getting too old to jump jobs and travel to another town and that is when she went back to work for the New Mexico State Engineer Underground Water Dept. which had opened an office in Albuquerque. She remained there until she retired. Mary and her friend May Scull started the Thomas and the Altaplano additions in the northeast heights in Albuquerque. Mary was never too tired or too busy to help someone that needed help. She thought it was a favor to her if you asked her to help or if she found you in need. She asked very few favors of her friends and neighbors, however her friends and neighbors produced many favors without being asked. Services will be held Tuesday, 3:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. VAUBEL -- Charles P. Vaubel, Jr., 84, a long time resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, November 21, 2004, with his wife, children and grandchildren at his side. Charlie was born January 13, 1920 in Minneapolis, MN. He was a WWII Veteran, serving his time on PT 311 in the Mediterranean. After moving to Albuquerque in 1958, Charlie was employed by Sandia National Labs and Kirtland Air Force Base. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 48 and a member of Temple Baptist Church. Charlie is survived by his wife, Betty; four children; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry; a sister, Georgann; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be Friday, November 26, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel with Dr. Larry E. Kennedy officiating.
