DURAN -- Antonio (Tony) Duran, 90, died Saturday, November 20, 2004. A life-long resident of New Mexico and grand storyteller, Tony was a 1936 McCurdy Mission graduate. Born to Lucia and Rafael Duran in Rodarte, he is survived by his daughter Concha Brown and husband Raymond, Doris June Moreno and husband Ben; sons, David and wife Judy, and Charles; grandchildren, Claudia, Maria, Kathleen, Jessica, Rebecca, Kelly, Ariel, Heather, and Loida Moreno; great grandchildren, AnnJeanette, Cody, Bethany, Joshua, Drake, Chamario, and Karletta; stepsister, Lena Goodheart; sisters-in-law, Teresina and Seferina, and many nieces and nephews. Tony was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy (Barnes), infant daughter Mary Margaret, grandson Fred, sister Soledea, brothers, Telesfor, Precopio, and Dennis, and stepbrothers Amadeo, Frank, and Avenicio Lucero. The family is grateful for the loving assistance of Meals on Wheels, Odyssey Hospice, and members of Cristo del Valle Church. A celebration of Tony's life will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. at Cristo de Valle Presbyterian Church, 3907 Isleta SW, preceded by visitation. The family requests with deep appreciation that memorials be made to the Dorothy and Antonio Duran Scholarship Fund at McCurdy School, 261 McCurdy Rd., Espanola, NM, 87532.
