CORDOVA -- Cecilia A. Cordova, age 74, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully Saturday, May 16, 2009 in Albuquerque following a long illness. She was born on July 2, 1934, in Santa Fe, to Alfonso and Manuelita Sanchez Aguilar. Her loving family surviving her passing are her husband, Toby Cordova; son, Mariano "Chris" Herrera and wife Cricket; daughters, Patti Maestas and Tobey Woodall and husband Steven; daughter-in-law, Eloisa Herrera; son-in-law, Robert Maestas, six grandchildren, Christine Watts, Rick Herrera and wife Amanda, Sophia Jaramillo and husband Jonathan, Jennifer Maestas, Madeline and Aidan Woodall; and six great-grandchildren, Justin Watts, Harley Flores, KeAnna, Emiliano and Tatum Herrera and baby Andres Jaramillo. She is also survived by her siblings, Alfonso "Tito" Aguilar, Eleanor Collins and Marie Aguilar; best friend Mary Garcia and many nieces and nephews. Our beloved mother will be remembered for her unconditional love, her sense of humor and her wonderful memory, often sharing stories of her youth. An avid reader, an enthusiastic storyteller and a wonderful cook, her greatest joy was sharing these gifts with her children and grandchildren. Prior to her illness and retirement, Cecilia was a long time employee at Victor's Pharmacy and Duran's Pharmacy, where she made many life-long friends. She is preceded in death by her sons, Johnny and Frank Herrera, infant grandson, Mario Maestas, her parents Alfonso and Manuelita Aguilar; siblings Cleo Pigut, Olivia Parks, Amanda Gomez and Charlie Aguilar. She was a devout member of the Roman Catholic Church. Special thanks to the kind staff at Albuquerque Care Center and VistaCare Center at Lovelace Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations in her memory to Peanut Butter & Jelly Preschool, 1101 Lopez Road SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105. MADRID -- Juan Isidro Madrid, 88, a lifetime resident of New Mexico, born May 15, 1920 in Cebolla, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday, May 11, 2009. He is predeceased by his parents, Genaro and Francisquita Madrid and his beloved wife Maxine who passed away on December 12, 1992. Juan is survived by his children; Johnny Madrid, Gloria Gabaldon and husband Leo, Viola Segura and husband Fred, Vicki Sanchez and Pam Thrasher, Dennis Madrid and wife Bella, Bertha Romero and husband Abel, Jane Chavez and husband Raymond, Mary Rios and husband Rick, 30 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, brother; Modesto Madrid, sisters; Georgia Martinez, Rose Madrid, Cora Martinez, Beatrice Madrid and Grace Bustos. Juan was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, where he served as Chairman of the Alter Society at Holy Rosary Parish. He was a proud Army Veteran who served in Europe during WWII with the 106 Division, after he returned to civilian life he utilized the boxing skills he acquired during his military training and became a prize fighter. Juan went on to retire from the City of Albuquerque, Parks and Recreation Maintenance Department. He was a master Mechanic, Welder and Carpenter and he enjoyed Baseball, fishing and hunting. A Visitation will be held at Holy Rosary Parish on Sunday, May 17, 2009 from 6:15 pm to 7:00 pm, with a Rosary following at 7:00 pm, also at Holy Rosary Parish. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am at Holy Rosary Parish on Monday, May 18, 2009. Interment ceremony will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 pm on Monday. Pallbearers will be: Al Sanchez, DJ Madrid, Johnny Madrid, Jr., Joseph L. Romero, Raymond Chavez, Jr., Edward Perea, Christopher Archuleta and Stephen Madrid. STRUNK -- Rebekah Ann Strunk, born July 4, 1974 in Los Angeles, California, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 8, 2009 at the age of 34 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is preceded in death by her mother, Deborah Duff Strunk. She is survived by her dad, Richard Strunk; step-mom, Christine Gudelj; twin sister, Rachel; and step-brother, Travis Gudelj, all of Albuquerque; aunts and uncles, Marjean and Jack Carnahan of California, Bonnie and Johnny Isaacs of Washington, George Strunk of North Carolina, Donald and Marilou Strunk of Pennsylvania, Donna and Rick Wyckoff of Pennsylvania, Steven and Wendy Gudelj of New Mexico, Norma Gudelj of New Mexico, Rosemary Gudelj and Paul Petzold of Missouri, Patricia Gudelj and Clifford Earles of New Mexico; and numerous cousins and dear friends who loved and will miss her. Rebekah graduated from El Dorado High School in 1993. She worked at Furr's Supermarket for ten years while going to High School and College. She received her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in teaching from the University of New Mexico. Upon graduation from the University of New Mexico, she began teaching at Apache Elementary School in 2002. She began teaching special ed children and most recently was a 2nd grade teacher at Apache. Her passion in life was teaching special ed children. She loved her cats, family, friends, and the children she taught. We will miss her dearly. Special thanks to Albuquerque's finest - 911 operators, police department, fire and rescue, and the office of the medical investigator for their quick response and professionalism. Blessings and safe journey to our wonderful daughter, sister, niece, teacher, and friend. GLASSON -- John F Glasson, 79, of Albuquerque passed away May 7, 2009. He is survived by his wife Arlene, daughters, Kathy, Carol, Relda & Emily; son, Johnny; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. John was born in Mart, TX, grew up in Hillsboro, NM. Mr. Glasson proudly served in the US Army and the US Air Force before retiring in 1969 as Staff Sergeant. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. NUNEZ -- John Nunez, 51, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on May 4, 2009, went home to be with his Lord and is now reunited with his wife and father. Mr. Nunez is survived by his mother, Mrs. Stella Nunez; his daughters, Jessica Montoya and husband, Greg, and Nichole Jiron and husband, Daniel; his son, Johnny I. Nunez; the mother of his son, Tina Olguin; his step son, Eugene Martinez and wife, Marcy; brothers, Frank Nunez and wife, Irene, Steve Nunez, Pete Nunez and wife, Marlene; sisters, Hope Nunez and Sheila Jones; his grandchildren, Arianna, Jordynn, Mark Anthony, Julian, Brandon Lee, and Constance; and several grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousin and friends. Mr. Nunez was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah J. Nunez, and his father, Richard H. Nunez. John was a member of the Catholic Church, and an empoyee at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Visitation will be Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Mrs. Gabriella Nieto. Final visitation will be Friday. May 8, 2009 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Father Joel Garner, presider.
