ABEYTA -- Adrian Jimmy Abeyta, age 26, a resident of Albuquerque, NM went to be with our heavenly father on Sunday, May 3, 2009. He was a beloved son, brother & grandson and will be greatly missed by family & friends. He is survived by his father James & mother Priscilla Abeyta; two brothers David Abeyta & Jeannette from Los Angeles, CA, Bryan Abeyta & Krystalee & niece Marialee from Phoenix, AZ; grandmother Celia Sanchez from Albuq. BRANDT -- William R. Brandt, 1925-2009, 84, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away on May 3, 2009. He was born on February 7, 1925 to William & Emily Meyer Brandt in Forest Hills, Queens, NY. William is survived by his daughter, Barbara D. Sandberg, wife of Earle C. Sandberg, of Cedar Grove, NJ; his grandson, Justin Fernando, of San Antonio, TX; and his sister, Gloria Patterson, of Whitestone, NY. William obtained a B.S. in Physical Education & Hygiene in 1950 & a M.S. in Elementary Education & Administration in 1958 from Cortland State Teachers College. He began his 33 yr career in the NY School System as a sixth grade Teacher & Coach in Liberty, NY. He retired as Principal of Kernan Primary School in February 1980 after serving 17 years in the Utica City School System. He moved to Rio Rancho, NM in September 1980. William was a WWII Veteran & a Life Member of the D.A.V. He served as a Training Officer in the NM State Defense Force from 1981-1992. He was an avid amateur gardener & woodworker. William chose to be cremated & a family memorial will be held in the fall in NJ. The family requests that donations in his memory be sent to Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice at 8300 Constitution Ave. N.E., Albuquerque, NM 87100 in appreciation of its staff's tender & loving care.

CHAPMAN -- Juanita Maria Chapman was born in El Prado, NM on June 29, 1915. She passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at her home in Albuquerque. She enjoyed spending time with family members, traveling, and going to the North Valley Senior Center. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and her prayer life was very important to her. Juanita is preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Chapman; two grandsons, Alex and Chris Romero; and granddaughter, Leticia Davenport; and her three brothers. She is survived by her five children, Tina Romero and husband, Pancho Ortega, Norbert Cardenas and wife, Nora, Marilyn Santistevan, Ben Chapman and wife, Jo Ann, and Carmella Davenport and husband, Richard; 17 grandchildren, 31great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends who loved her and will miss her. Services will be held at Santuario de San Martin Catholic Church, 8321 Camino San Martin SW. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. with Father Leo Padget presiding. Private Family Burial will take place at a later date in Alcalde, NM where she will be interred with her late husband, Bill. DAVIS -- Imogene E (Carder)(Coons) Davis Born December 3, 1925, went to be with Jesus May 2, 2009. Survived by her son Dave Coons and Sandy, daughters Carol (Coons) Jewell & Gary, and Deanne (Coons) Bemis & Rick. She had 13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. DUNKIN -- Peryl Alice Dunkin peacefully passed away in her sleep on May 5, 2009 at the New Mexico State Veterans Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Vera Clough and her two brothers, Thomas Clough and Warren "Bud" Kearns. She is survived by her husband of nearly 68 years, Albert "Carol" Dunkin; daughter, Alice Carol Dawson-Clark and her husband, Roy Clark; daughter, Donna Dunkin and partner, Vince "Papa" Fiato; daughter, Dorothy "Sue" Dunkin and daughter, Kathleen "Kathy" Dunkin; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Peryl was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 17, 1924. She met her future husband on Christmas Day, 1939 and they were married on June 28, 1941. The first eight years of their marriage was spent traveling around the world. On January 1, 1949, Carol was transferred to Sandia Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As a family, they started visiting Elephant Butte in 1955. Their dream to retire in Elephant Butte became a reality in 1999. To help her daughter's fulfill some of their dreams, she drove them all over the United States so they could participate in their many activities. When she was finished driving her daughters, she took up horse showing and won many awards in the process. Carol will also inform you, that if it had not been for Peryl's ability to type and correct his many papers, which were required as he pursued his Masters, he probably would still be in college. ESTABROOK -- Caroline Estabrook, 89, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, May 4, 2009. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Bone and husband, Robert of Edgewood and Marcia Salazar of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Gayle Bone and longtime partner, Wayne Glumm of McIntosh, NM and Jay C. Moldenhauer-Salazar and wife, Sarah of Berkeley, CA; three great-grandchildren, Audri Manzer and husband, Manuel of Gila, NM and Jonah and Lily Salazar of Berkeley, CA; two great-great grandchildren, Jacob and David Manzer of Gila; sister, Dorothy Peters of Omaha, NE; brother-in-law, Gordon Zahm of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence Estabrook in 1983 and their infant son, Stephen L. Estabrook in 1951. Caroline and her husband, Laurence, who was a Navy Chief, were posted at various places early in their marriage. On December 7, 1941, Caroline and her family witnessed and survived the attack on Pearl Harbor. In 1950, the family moved to Albuquerque. She was an avid bowler and was the head of rodeo ticket sales at the fairgrounds for over 30 years. First and foremost, Caroline was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose devotion and love will always be felt. Although her physical presence will be no more, she will always be with her family in spirit, memory, and prayers, as she was always with them in life. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be at Friday, May 15, 2009, 11:00 a.m., at French, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, followed by a reception and interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband. FORNEY -- Ora Mae Forney, 89, who was born on December 27, 1919 to the late Frank and Cova Ball of Newton, KS, passed away on May 3, 2009 in Albuquerque, NM. Mrs. Forney, a resident of Albuquerque, NM for 67 years was a cashier for several of the grocery store chains. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Max H. GRASSHAM -- Jeanne F. Grassham, 80, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed away Monday, May 4, 2009. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles M. Grassham of Albuquerque; sons Phil Grassham of Christchurch, New Zealand, Bob Grassham and wife Barbara, John Grassham and wife Carol all of Albuquerque; grandchildren Kelley Grassham, Tracey Goodrich and husband Mason, Abigail Grassham, Mary Grassham, John P. Grassham and wife Lisa, Daniel Grassham, Joshua Grassham, and Kristin Grassham; great-grandchildren Sarah Day, Chelsea Day, Emily Zoltkin, and Tyler Grassham; sister Frances Downes of Alaska; and brother Bill Fowler and wife Norma of Albuquerque. Mrs. Grassham came from a longtime New Mexico family and was related to the Beaubien and Abreu Families. Jeanne graduated from Estancia High School and was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority at Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM. She was a member for over 60 years. Mrs. Grassham was a Past President of Albuquerque City Panhelenic. She enjoyed playing bridge and traveling. She was the best mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. HLADICK -- William J. Hladick, 88, resident of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bernadine R. HOBART -- Phillip (Pete) S. Hobart, 81 of Albuquerque, NM passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009. He was born in Rockford, Illinois, November 28, 1927 to Kathryn S. Hobart the second of her three children. Pete married his wife of 56 years JoAnn of Albuquerque in 1952. Other survivors include their three children, Jeff Hobart and his wife Kristy of Austin Texas, Mark Hobart of Albuquerque, Peter Hobart and his wife Lisa of Albuquerque. Six grandchildren, Jeanine Hobart, Logan Hobart, Jeffrey Hobart, Andrew Hobart, Joshua Hobart, and Phillip Hobart. Two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Sally Eichman and Richard (Dick) Hobart, several nieces and nephews. He was a WWII veteran stationed in Virginia. He enjoyed his career with Prudential Financial Services for some 50 years and enjoyed serving his clients. His legacy and example was evident in his faith, his family and his work. He will be missed but will be remembered by those he touched. Cremation has taken place. HUMPHREYS -- Randall Mark Humphreys unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, after a recurrence of kidney cancer. Randy was born in 1950, and grew up amid the oil fields of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. He was voted 'Best Groomed' at Lovington High School in 1969 and our handsome Randy went on to attend Eastern New Mexico University. There, he established many relationships that would last a lifetime among his fraternity brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha and he met Darla Schlientz, who he would marry in 1973. In 1978, Randy moved to Lubbock, TX where he earned his Master's Degree in Accounting from Texas Tech University and all things Red Raider became one of the great joys of his life. As a Certified Public Accountant, Randy moved to San Antonio, TX in 1981 to work for the accounting firm giant, KPMG Peat Marwick. He loved living in San Antonio where he had family near, made good friends and discovered Port Aransas, TX, the site of many family vacations and happy memories. In 1987, Randy moved to Albuquerque and worked for the other accounting firm giant, Arthur Andersen. Professionally, Randy was most proud to have established his own accounting practice in 1998. Personally, Randy didn't care to be the life of the party but if you did engage him in conversation, you met a thoughtful and intelligent man who could catch you off-guard with his razor sharp sense of humor. Randy leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Darla; his beloved children, Lindsay and her husband, Blake, Allison and her husband, Daniel, and Mark; dearly loved grandchildren, Bryson, Jerran, Kaylah and Lenna who always brought a smile to his face; his parents, Allen and Jean Humphreys; his grandmother, Quova Humphreys; his brother, Ron; and many extended family members. Adored by all dogs who ever met him, Randy also leaves behind a treasured cocker spaniel. Services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009, 3:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel. JACOBSON -- Naomi L. Jacobson, 97, a long time resident of Albuquerque passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband Arvid (Bus) Jacobson in March of 1979. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Bell, her son Bob Jacobson and his wife Judy Jacobson and her two grandchildren Melanie Jacobson and Christopher Jacobson. She lived in Racine, WI before marriage in 1945 and had many happy memories of growing up with her niece Carolyn Banke of Ocala, FL; and her nephew Bill Hall Jr. of Racine. The family moved to Albuquerque in June 1958 from Beloit, WI. She was a member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church. Naomi was a resident of Canyon Transitional Rehab Nursing Home. Mrs. Jaramillo is survived by her beloved husband of 57 yrs, Mr. Luis Celso Jaramillo; her children, Orlando Jaramillo and wife, Laurie, Sandra Aragon and husband, Steve, Raymond Jaramillo and wife, Arleen, Anthony Jaramillo and wife, Naomi, Manuel Jaramillo Sr. and fiancee, Doris, Nancy Monroe and husband, Charles; her sisters, Alice Baca and husband, Willie, Elsie Baca and husband, Vincent, and Jessie Saiz and husband, Fred; her brothers, Don Gutierrez and wife, Lalie, Alvin Vigil and wife Aimee, Ernest Vigil and wife, Freida and Gilbert Vigil and fiancee, Eufemia; 18 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. LEWIS -- Robert L. Lewis, age 65, beloved husband, father, and brother, went to his heavenly home, Saturday, May 2, 2009. He was born on April 26, 1944 in Uravan, CO, and was a Veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Angie Lewis. LOPEZ-GASTON -- Dr. Jose' R. Lopez-Gaston, 80, died May 5, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Maria D. Nebril de Lopez-Gaston; sons, Rafael Damian, Luis Javier and wife, Carmen, Jose Ignacio and wife, Daisy, Alfonso Pablo and wife, Royina; daughter, Rosa Maria and husband, Malcom; sister, Maria Cristina Lopez; and grandchildren; Marisa, Gabriela, Aria, Jose Osvaldo, Anyssa and Adelina. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Julian and Kayla. Dr. Lopez-Gaston was born in Havana, Cuba of Spanish descent. He was a lifelong devoted Roman Catholic, a Marist Brother from 1943 to 1959 and an ordained Deacon since 1972. He married Maria in Spain in 1962 then they came to the United States that year and became an American Citizen in 1968. MARTINEZ -- Theresa L. Martinez, born on January 10, 1949 went to heaven on May 3, 2009. She is a beloved mother, sister, daughter, aunt, grandmother, and wife. She is survived by her son Richard Martinez and wife Justine (her Mija), her daughters Loretta Martinez and husband Jason Nunez, Denise Garcia and husband Christopher, her youngest daughter Cassaundra Marlene Martinez and her 14 grandchildren (Richard Martinez Jr., Jessica, Joshua, Amanda, Vanessa, Samantha, Kendall, Gabrielle, Alexandra, Micheal, Carlos, Jacob, Aaliyah, and Janyce). She lived a very fulfilling life with her husband Charles Martinez until his passing on January 24, 2003. She was a special lady very protective of all her family especially her grandchildren. She was no ordinary woman, she was a strong and smart woman, and did her best to support her entire family. She was a very caring, and loving grandmother to all her grandchildren. When she wasn't taking care of her family she was busy with all her different hobbies she invested in such as puzzles, sewing, and playing bingo. She had bumps in the road but it did not stop her from living life. We will love and miss her, and she will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace Theresa. Mass will be held in Roswell, New Mexico at Saint Peter's Church on the May 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.

O'BRIEN -- Arneita Harris O'Brien, 84, of Farmington, passed away peacefully Monday, April 13, 2009, in Farmington. She was born November 5, 1924, in Taos, to Ercie and Lila Wood. Arneita lived in many places, mostly in New Mexico, as her family struggled through the Depression years. She married Carl Harris in January 1943, and they determined to give their family a loving and stable home life. She lived about 60 years in the Albuquerque area before moving to Farmington in 2003. She was preceded in death by Carl; her parents; two brothers, W.E. "Woody" Wood and Dean Wood; grandson, Kenneth Perrin; and Virgil O'Brien. She is survived by her sister, Drucilla Bailey; her two daughters and their husbands, Fran and Cliff Perrin and Rita and Rick Lo Presto; six grandchildren, Phil Perrin of Maryland, Brent, Brian and Tammy Lo Presto of Oklahoma, Ginger Dynneson of Montana, Kimberly Wood of Farmington, seven terrific great-grandchildren; and many dear friends. She was a superb wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and friend and will be dearly missed for her quick laugh and loving spirit. As a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, she was blessed with a loving and supportive church family which made her move to Farmington easier. Graveside Services will be at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Fairview Cemetery in Albuquerque. PARSONS -- Frances Eileen (Cozzens) Parsons was born on January 22, 1928 to S.M. and Sallie Cozzens on the family homestead SW of Capitan. Eileen passed from this world on May 5, 2009 at her Roswell home surrounded by the love of her family. Her hope is to meet her loved ones again in the presence of God her creator, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Harry R. Parsons Jr.; her son Dr. Harry R. Parsons and wife Pat of Dexter, daughters Dr. Sally Parsons of Greeley, CO, Janet Thorson and husband Kurt of Albuquerque, Debbie Harrelson and husband Colt of Ruidoso, and Diane Parsons of the home. Her much beloved grandchildren are Clay Cohorn of Coyle, OK, Patrick Cohorn of Midland, TX, Bonnie Eileen Parsons of Lubbock, TX, Jake and Andi Harrelson of Ruidoso, and Ahren and Alex Thorson of Albuquerque; and great-granddaughter Halle Cohorn of Midland, TX. Eileen is survived by brothers L.C. Cozzens and wife Mary Lou of Capitan, Doyle Cozzens and wife Jeanne of Roswell, and Ken Cozzens and wife Pauline of San Marcos, CA. Another brother, Wayne Cozzens, recently preceded her in death along with two brothers who passed away in infancy, Franklin Cozzens and Baby Cozzens. Her sisters are Cornelia Grannis of Monrovia, CA, Jane Cozzens and Marilyn Cozzens of Roswell, and sister in law Pat Cozzens of Albuquerque. Eileen loved her many, many cherished nephews and nieces fondly. Growing up during the depression, times were tough here in New Mexico, but a relative from Texas said the Cozzens were not poor, they just didn't have any money. There was always plenty of love and plenty of food at the Primo Cozzens home and Eileen and her brothers and sisters didn't know they were missing anything. Eileen graduated from Capitan High School in 1946 and Pasadena College in 1950. Her first teaching job was in Fort Sumner where she met Bob Parsons. They were married on December 23, 1951. Eileen was raised in the Nazarene Church, and joined the Fort Sumner United Methodist Church in 1951. Eileen taught Home Economics, English, and Civics at Fort Sumner High School for 26 years where she still has many friends and former students. When her health began to fail her and the hospital closed in Fort Sumner, she moved to Roswell in 2005. Services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Fort Sumner. Officiating will be Rev. Stephen Deutsch. Interment will be at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers are Gary Cozzens, Colt Harrelson, Kurt Thorson, Clay Cohorn, Patrick Cohorn, John Eastwood, Caleb Elliott and Jason Elliot. Honorary pallbearers are all her many relatives and friends. SCHODERBEK -- Leslie Wardrop Schoderbek, age 82, a resident of Albuquerque for 32 years, died 1 May, 2009. Leslie, daughter of Leslie and Irene Baker Wardrop, was born in Golconda, IL in 1926 and attended school there. She graduated from Alton (IL) School of Nursing in 1947 and was a registered nurse with a specialty in psychiatry for seven years, five of which were served at Hines VA Hospital in Hines IL, and two years as a 1st Lt in the USAF at Parks AFB, Pleasanton CA. In 1955 Leslie married 1st Lt. Stephen Schoderbek who completed 30 years of military service in 1977. During some of those years she served as a Red Cross Volunteer Nurse at the USAF Academy, CO and Maxwell AFB, Montgomery, AL. After their military life, Leslie and Steve moved to their home in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains and enjoyed thousands of gorgeous sunsets. Her greatest joy in life was her family and her collection of friends. After Steve's second retirement in 1985 they traveled extensively in the US, border to border and shore to shore, until 2004 when Leslie became wheelchair dependent. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Stephen E. Schoderbek; daughter Joanna and husband, Maris Biela of Littleton, CO; sons David and wife, Dianna (Kottlowski), and their two children Donald and Florence, of Eagle River, AK; and Brian of Albuquerque. Ennichment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery Columbarium in late June.
