ALEXANDER -- Thelma Katrina Alexander, 100, resident of Albuquerque since 1946, went to be with the Lord Friday, May 8, 2009. She is survived by son, Connie Alexander (a.k.a. Rip) of Albuquerque; daughter, Yvonne Griffin and husband, Bob of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Gregg Alexander and wife, Christie of Wasilla, Alaska, Amy May and husband, Richard of Denver, CO, Lynn Alexander of Coeur d'Alene, ID, Annelle Griffin, Eric Griffin and wife, Lisa, and Stewart Griffin all of Orlando, FL; great-grandchildren, Austin and Brady Alexander, Will and Rachel May, Lily and Mae Alexander, Ben, Jake and Evan Griffin, and Kayla and Kyle Griffin; and other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, W. C. Alexander in 1978; her parents; and brothers and sisters. On her 100th birthday, January 22nd, Mayor Martin Chavez proclaimed it Thelma Katrina Alexander Day in the City of Albuquerque. Governor Bill Richardson sent a personal letter commending her artistic contributions, and congratulations for building a new home at the age of 77. Thelma was born in 1909, has lived in eleven decades and has seen progress from open cockpit airplanes to the International Space Station. She experienced growing up in Texas oilfields, farms, and cities, experienced the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression, and six U.S. wars. She has succeeded in being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker, and culinary expert. With her husband, W.C., they owned and operated a successful grocery and market in Texas. Thelma has hand sewn a patchwork quilt and has painted an oil painting for each of her children and grandchildren. She and her husband were prize winning gardeners. ARCHIBEQUE -- Frank Archibeque, 82, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 9, 2009. Frank is predeceased by his parents; Francisco "Frank" and Carlota (DeLao) Archibeque, the mother of his children; Cecilia Priscilla Archibeque, and his second wife Cora Archibeque. He is survived by children; Clyde Archibeque and wife Fran, Julie Archibeque-Guerra and husband Rito Guerra and Frank A. Archibeque and wife Bertha, nephew Ronnie Gonzales, niece Mary Lou Calderon and husband Adrian, seven grandchildren; Cecilia Acuna and husband Rudy, Marie Archibeque and fiance Phillip Sanchez, Andrea Medina and husband Elmer, Andy Castellano, Dominic Guerra, Francisco Archibeque, Estrella Rivera and husband Alex, and five great-grandchildren; Elias, Carlos, Tyler, Evan and Angelina. Frank was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he served for many years as an usher and in the Holy Name Society. He served his country courageously in the Navy, Submarine Service, during WWII and the Korean War, afterwards he worked as a Journeyman Machinist for the Santa Fe Railroad for over 46 years, and was an active member of the American Legion Post 72 when it was located at 5th and Hazeldine. He enjoyed gardening and cooking for his friends and family which at times seemed to include all 400 plus members of the American Legion (4th of July picnics). Frank was raised in the house his father built and lived there his entire life. Frank will be dearly missed by all. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2009 beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the 8th Street Chapel, Garcia Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2009, at the 8th Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, May 15, 2009, with interment following at Mt. ARMIJO -- Brad Remington Armijo, 21, went home to our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 12, 2009. Brad was born on November 19, 1987 in Albuquerque, NM to Allen and Karen (Torres) Armijo. Brad was a beloved son, grandson, brother and special friend. Brad was a hard worker. He was strong and always willing to help those who needed him. Brad enjoyed hunting, sports, spending time with family and friends and truly loved being at his family ranch working side by side with his father. Brad was a 2006 graduate of Socorro High School and employed by DicaPearl Inc.. Although Brad was a quiet young man, he always offered a genuine smile and warm hug to those close to him. Brad will be remembered and missed by many, but we are comforted in knowing that his soul is content and restful in eternity. Brad is preceded in death by his grandfather, Polo Armijo; and his uncle, Kenneth Armijo Sr. He is survived by his loving parents, Karen and Allen Armijo; his sister, Aspen Armijo; his brother, Austin Armijo; his maternal grandparents, Max and Priscilla Torres; his paternal grandmother, Mela Armijo; fiance, Nadia Lucero; all of Socorro, NM; and several uncles, aunts and cousins. CARTER -- Marjorie Gilgis Brown Carter, 93, long time resident of New Mexico, passed away May 8, 2009 in Boulder, Colorado. She is survived by her brother Wentworth C. Brown; her two children, Douglas Carter and spouse Betty Jo, Janet Cowart and husband Shannon; her three grandchildren, Laurel Griffin and husband Josh, Annamarie Cowart, Michael Cowart; two great-grandchildren, Cole Griffin and Brady Griffin. She was born in Chicago, IL and moved to Albuquerque in 1938 to be a nurse at the Veteran's Hospital, later working at Lovelace Clinic and as Chief Obstetrics nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital. She married Philip H. Carter in 1940, raised her children and became a teacher after receiving her BA at UNM. She taught 14 years in Santa Rosa, NM, and 11 years as a substitute teacher with APS. She moved to Boulder in 2005 to be with her daughter. The family would like to thank HospiceCare of Boulder for their kindness and support.

CHATWIN -- Nora Chatwin, age 80, resident of Bosque Farms, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2009. She was born on Wednesday, January 9, 1929 in Taos, New Mexico to Domitila and Juan Manuel Trujillo. Nora married Wallace Dayton Chatwin on June 29, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They lovingly raised six children and she is survived by, Susan and husband, Stephen Peterson, Lynn and wife, Joni Chatwin, Carolyn and husband, Richard Murset, Lorraine and husband, David Reschke, Kevin and wife, Shannon Chatwin, Sherri and husband, Jeffrey Thayne. Nora is also survived by 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ursula Cantu, and Marcia and husband, Tim O'Bryant; brothers, Arturo Trujillo, Tito and wife, Carmen Trujillo, and Jesse and wife, Ginger Trujillo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Nora was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace Chatwin; sisters, Magdalena Trujillo, and Lorraine Garza; brothers, Rafael Trujillo, and Levi Trujillo; and great-grandson, Noah Peterson. Nora was a devoted wife and mother and made each child and grandchild feel like they were her favorite. Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ was an integral part of her life and she was an example of Christ-like love and service to all who knew and loved her. ESTABROOK -- Caroline Estabrook, 89, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, May 4, 2009. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Bone and husband, Robert of Edgewood and Marcia Salazar of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Gayle Bone and longtime partner, Wayne Glumm of McIntosh, NM and Jay C. Moldenhauer-Salazar and wife, Sarah of Berkeley, CA; three great-grandchildren, Audri Manzer and husband, Manuel of Gila, NM and Jonah and Lily Salazar of Berkeley, CA; two great-great grandchildren, Jacob and David Manzer of Gila; sister, Dorothy Peters of Omaha, NE; brother-in-law, Gordon Zahm of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence Estabrook in 1983 and their infant son, Stephen L. Estabrook in 1951. Caroline and her husband, Laurence, who was a Navy Chief, were posted at various places early in their marriage. On December 7, 1941, Caroline and her family witnessed and survived the attack on Pearl Harbor. In 1950, the family moved to Albuquerque. She was an avid bowler and was the head of rodeo ticket sales at the fairgrounds for over 30 years. First and foremost, Caroline was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose devotion and love will always be felt. Although her physical presence will be no more, she will always be with her family in spirit, memory, and prayers, as she was always with them in life. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be at Friday, May 15, 2009, 11:00 a.m., at French, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, followed by a reception and interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband. GRIEGO -- Evangeline Franco Griego passed away on Mother's Day, May 10, 2009. Born on August 13, 1925, Mrs. Griego is survived by her loving husband, Leo Griego; her children, Sharon Griego Housel and Ronald Griego; grandsons Mathew and Brandon Griego, and brothers Frank and Fidel Franco. Her sister, Lilly Franco Pompa, died in 2008. Mrs. Griego's memory will also be forever cherished by a loving extended family and dear friends. JARAMILLO -- Teresa Jean (Crespin) Jaramillo, known affectionately as Jean, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the age of 75, after a long illness. She is survived by husband Bob Jaramillo; beloved daughter-in-law Sandy Crespin; daughter Teresa Cisneros; grandchildren Krista Baca, Vanessa Baca, Matthew Crespin, Andrea Cisneros and Tiffany Crespin; great-grandchildren Matthew Marcus Romero and Demarcus Sutphen; beloved sisters Tillie Gonzales and Anna Chavez; and by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, step-children and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her brother Ralph Vigil; by her first husband Raymond Crespin; and by her cherished son Buddy Crespin. Jean was born June 1, 1933 in Nara Visa, New Mexico to Rafael and Felipita Vigil. She was loved by everyone who knew her and never met a stranger. A devout Catholic all her life, she truly embodied the Biblical quote "love thy neighbor." She struck up conversations and made new friends everywhere she went. A fantastic cook, she passed on her wonderful recipes for caldito, homemade tortillas, green chile chicken enchiladas, torta de huevo, and her famous margaritas to her family and friends. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and it was rare that her friends and extended family didn't hear about the achievements and accomplishments of her Hita Linda, Pretty Baby, Hito Fino, Peanut, and Hita Fina. Thursday night dinner at "Nana's" house was an event everyone looked forward to each week. During her life, her heart was broken by the loss of her son Buddy and her body was overwhelmed in the end by her health problems, but her spirit and zest for life remained strong. We are grateful for her wonderful life and the love she showered unconditionally on everyone. Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 15, 2009 at 10:00 a.m at Our Lady of Assumption Church at Lomas and Tennessee NE in Albuquerque. KRONE -- Lauren Marie Krone, born Tuesday, December 25, 1956, former resident of Los Alamos, passed away in her Albuquerque home on Monday, May 11, 2009 surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Aragon; and her sister, Andrea Calderon. She is survived by her children, Shannon Krone, Michael Krone and fiancee, Mikhaila Mulligan, and Mark Krone; mother, Lou Aragon; sister, Denise Gray and husband, Michael Gray and kids, Eli, Jon, and Matt. Lauren was artistic and extremely creative, specializing in Raku pottery. She was talented in other artistic areas including sculpture, other pottery, and gourd art. Lauren volunteered at the local outdoor pool, her church, and Los Alamos public schools. She was adept at home improvement, construction and gardening, and was instrumental in remodeling the family homes. MADRID -- Juan Isidro Madrid, 88, a lifetime resident of New Mexico, born May 15, 1920 in Cebolla, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday, May 11, 2009. He is predeceased by his parents, Genaro and Francisquita Madrid and his beloved wife Maxine who passed away on December 12, 1992. Juan is survived by his children, Johnny Madrid, Gloria Gabaldon and husband Leo, Viola Segura and husband Fred, Vicki Sanchez and Pam Thrasher, Dennis Madrid and wife Bella, Bertha Romero and husband Abel, Jane Chavez and husband Raymond, Mary Rios and husband Rick; 30 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren; brother, Modesto Madrid; and sisters, Georgia Martinez, Rose Madrid, Cora Martinez, Beatrice Madrid and Grace Bustos. Juan was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, where he served as Chairman of the Alter Society at Holy Rosary Parish. He was a proud Army Veteran who served in Europe during WWII with the 106 Division, after he returned to civilian life he utilized the boxing skills he acquired during his military training and became a prize fighter. Juan went on to retire from the City of Albuquerque, Parks and Recreation Maintenance Department. He was a master Mechanic, Welder and Carpenter and he enjoyed baseball, fishing and hunting. A Visitation will be held at Holy Rosary Parish on Sunday, May 17, 2009 from 6:15 pm to 7:00 pm, with a Rosary following at 7:00 pm, also at Holy Rosary Parish. MCMILLAN -- Armand "MAC" McMillan, 83, of Nashua died at his home on Thursday evening May 13, 2009. He was born in Montreal, PQ, Canada,son of the late Daniel Douglas and Matilda (Broulliard) McMillan. He had resided in Nashua since August 2008. Previously he had made his home in Albuquerque from 1990 until 2008. He was quoted as saying "I do not regret one minute of my life." He was married to Ellen R. (Reid) McMillan on February 20, 1960. Armand received his Baccalaureate degree from Concordia University in Montreal, a Masters degree in Biochemistry from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and a Law degree from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. During World War II he served in the Canadian Army. Prior to his retirement in 2000, he was a Chemical Patent Attorney with the United States Department of Energy in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was a member of the Utah, Tennessee and Massachusetts Bar Associations. A well-read man, he was interested in geography, world history, geopolitics, languages and the political process. He took up playing the piano at age 76 years. He enjoyed talking with people and traveling. His most recent trips took him to Asia, Antarctica and a trip on the Trans Siberian Railroad. He was predeceased by three children: Robert McMillan, Barbara McMillan and David McMillan In addition to his wife of 49 years, Ellen R. McMillan of Nashua, survivors include daughters Elizabeth Reid McMillan, MD of Nashua and Katherine Reid West and her husband Lee of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four grandchildren: Jennifer Smith and husband Matthew, Mary England and husband Cole, Victoria Myers and husband Chase and Devon McMillan; four great grandchildren: Connor Smith and Kathleen, Eliana and Cadence Myers; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law Ian Reid of Austin Texas, Miriam and Ralph Greenburg of Phoenix, Arizona and Lynda and James Warren of Chelmsford, MA and his beloved dog "Jack" and cat "Mishka".SERVICES: There are no visiting hours and his family requested no service. ONEY -- Mattie Deane Oney, 83, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009. PLATERO -- Carol S. Platero, 75, a resident of Tohajiilee, New Mexico, passed away on May 11, 2009. Mrs. Platero is survived by her beloved husband of fifty years, Mr. Burton Platero; her children, Tommy A. Secatero and girlfriend, Geneva Piaso, Darrell D. Platero, Veronica E. Platero-Tom and husband, Lorenzo, Minga U. Platero-Dreyer and husband, Mark; her sister, Berna Piaso; her nine grandchildren, Tammy, Tommy, Karry, Brandon, Arleen, Melissa, Emily, Stephanie and Nathaniel; seven great-grandchildren; and many brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, and friends. PORTER -- Wilma Holmes Porter passed away on Mother's Day, May 10, 2009 due to the effects of Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lyle Porter, who faithfully visited her three times a day during her illness. Wilma is also survived by five children: Bruce Porter and wife, Susan; Rebecca Rogers and husband, Gary; Pamela Hamblin and husband, Randy; Carolyn Brustad and husband, Roger; and Susan Grenfell and husband, Darrin. She leaves a posterity of twenty two grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. One brother also survives her: Kenley Holmes of Spokane, Washington. Wilma was born in Liberty, Utah, to Irma and Edgar Holmes. She was the fifth of seven children. She and Lyle moved to Albuquerque shortly after their marriage in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 21, 1951. Lyle began work at Sandia National Laboratories, where he worked until retirement. As a result of this employment, Wilma was able to live in Washington, D.C., Boston, and Europe, where they traveled extensively. Wilma loved music very much and served as LDS ward music chairman. She often led local LDS church choirs. She and Lyle served an LDS mission for a year on Temple Square in Salt Lake City. The family is grateful to the staff at The Cottages, an Alzheimer's home, where she spent the last years of her life. She is now at peace and reunited with her parents. PRUESS -- Margaret E. Pruess, age 93, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 6, 2009. She was born in Anita, Iowa when Woodrow Wilson occupied the White House. After high school, Margaret went to work as a bookkeeper in Kansas City, Missouri where she met Everett A. Pruess and married him in 1940. They settled in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where they raised their three children. Margaret loved her crossword puzzles and mysteries. She took great pleasure in knitting hats and booties, giving them away to newborns of friends and family. Her talents were put to use for other projects such as crocheting prayer shawls. She was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Everett; and her sister, Mary Isabel Vriesen. Survivors include two sons, James and wife, Jitra, of Bangkok, Thailand, Steven and wife, Mary Ellen, of Green Valley, Arizona; and daughter, Mary Pruess, of Albuquerque, NM; grandson, Christopher; and granddaughter, Na; brother, Max Biggs and wife, Lois, of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and close friends, Melody Childs and Michael Newman, who will miss her kindness, love, and generosity. ROMERO -- Alan Romero, 46, was born August 30, 1962 and passed away on May 7, 2009 at his childhood home in Albuquerque, NM after a long illness. He graduated from Highland High School in 1980, in Albuquerque, NM. Alan worked at the University of Phoenix as a Financial Aide Counselor until he moved to New York City in the fall of 1992. He then worked at NYU until 2004. Alan moved and lived in Las Vegas, Nevada for one year, then moved back home to Albuquerque. SHERBONDY -- Curtis Lloyd Sherbondy Curtis Sherbondy died May 12, 2009 at 11:15 p.m. at UNM Hospital. He was preceded by his first wife Theresa Sherbondy; and survived by his 3 children, Gina Hogeland, Karen Freire, Curtis Sherbondy II; his mother Doris Petric; sisters Phyllis Richard, Shirley McGrath, and Debra Rodrigez; as well as seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. STOCKTON -- Margoree Stockton, a Raton, New Mexico ranch woman who was active in many community organizations and had wide-ranging interests from pottery and weaving to line dancing, died May 11, 2009 in Albuquerque. She was 85 years old. Her husband of 64 years, Gene Stockton, died in 2007. Gene and Margoree Stockton began married life in 1943 on their ranch alongside the Canadian River south of Raton. They operated it together and raised cattle and hay for the next 62 years, before moving to Albuquerque in 2005. Margoree was born in Winnsboro, Texas. She graduated from high school in Fort Worth and attended Texas Wesleyan University for three semesters before joining the U.S. Weather Bureau as a weather observer in 1942 to be part of the World War II effort. She was posted to Raton, where she met her future husband. She is survived by two sons, Bruce, of Albuquerque, and Bill of Milford, N.J.; two grandchildren, Cinnamon Everheart of Los Lunas and Tomas of Albuquerque; and four great-grandchildren, Grayson, Kaydon and Azlin Everheart of Los Lunas and Janeyre Stockton of Albuquerque. Besides her husband, other family members who preceded Margoree in death included her parents, George and Faye Phillips; an older brother, Gerald Phillips; and a grandson, Kevin Stockton.

STRUNK -- Rebekah Ann Strunk, born July 4, 1974 in Los Angeles, California, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 8, 2009 at the age of 34 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is preceded in death by her mother, Deborah Duff Strunk. She is survived by her dad, Richard Strunk; step-mom, Christine Gudelj; twin sister, Rachel; and step-brother, Travis Gudelj, all of Albuquerque; aunts and uncles, Marjean and Jack Carnahan of California, Bonnie and Johnny Isaacs of Washington, George Strunk of North Carolina, Donald and Marilou Strunk of Pennsylvania, Donna and Rick Wyckoff of Pennsylvania, Steven and Wendy Gudelj of New Mexico, Norma Gudelj of New Mexico, Rosemary Gudelj and Paul Petzold of Missouri, Patricia Gudelj and Clifford Earles of New Mexico; and numerous cousins and dear friends who loved and will miss her. Rebekah graduated from El Dorado High School in 1993. She worked at Furr's Supermarket for ten years while going to High School and College. She received her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in teaching from the University of New Mexico. Upon graduation from the University of New Mexico, she began teaching at Apache Elementary School in 2002. She began teaching special ed children and most recently was a 2nd grade teacher at Apache. Her passion in life was teaching special ed children. She loved her cats, family, friends, and the children she taught. We will miss her dearly. Special thanks to Albuquerque's finest - 911 operators, police department, fire and rescue, and the office of the medical investigator for their quick response and professionalism.
