MASCARENAS -- Beatrice C. Mascarenas, 55, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, died Thursday, June 1, 2006. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Robert Mascarenas; parents, Juan and Mary Vigil; brothers, Joe Vigil and wife, Carmen, Paul Vigil and wife, Margaret and John Vigil and wife, Wanda, all of Albuquerque; sisters, Theresa Pena and husband, David of Springer, NM, Elizabeth Holt and husband, Roy of Clovis, NM; father-in-law, Alfonso Mascarenas; sisters-in-law, Juanita Mascarenas, Carmen Mascarenas, and Connie Mascarenas, all of Albuquerque; niece and God-daughter, Denise Maldonado; and many other dear nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mascarenas worked at Desert Ridge Middle School. She also worked at the UNM Center for Disabilities and the College of Nursing. She was a parishioner at Risen Savior Catholic Community. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, June 6, 2006, 7:00 p.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Deacon Kenn Sinatra reciting. BROWN -- Jeanie Annette Brown, 48, passed away on March 25, 2006, in Farmington, NM. After having a battle with cancer. She was born March 16, 1958 to John Aston Dillard and Myrtle Wiggins in Las Vegas, NM. Jeanie attended school in Wagon Mound from 1964 to 1976. Jeanie met Wesley W. Brown at her dad's shop while he was overhauling a motor. Shortly after that they were married on May 22, 1976, in Springer, NM, then moved to Tucumcari, NM and lived there until 1977. Jeanie has lived in Farmington. Jeanie is survived by her husband; sons, Kevin (Tanya) of Aztec, NM, and Jason and Clint of the family home; mother, Myrtle Long of Wagon Mound, NM; sister, Janie Schmidt of Los Lunas, NM; and several nieces and nephews. Her father; granddad, Isaac Wiggins; grandmother, Maggie Wiggins; preceded her in death. Jeanie will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew and loved her. The family is planning a Memorial Service for her at the Waterflow Community Center, located on Highway 64 west of Kirtland at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2006. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you consider a donation to the New Mexico Cancer Institute of Santa Fe in her honor. WEST -- Ruth West, 87, born May 31, 1918 in Mountainair, NM, departed this life on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 and took her first breath in Heaven. She is survived by her children: Sharon Wheeler and husband, Bob of Elmore City, OK, Harvey Lee "Butch" West and Debbie of Los Lunas, NM, and Grace West of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Leighanna Austin, Jackie McKee, and Charylene Bell of Oklahoma, Brian West of Roswell, NM, and Jason and Shaun West of Los Lunas, NM; 15 great-grandchildren, Cameron Wheeler, Kevin King, Kelly Bell, Christian Bell, Tabitha Austin, Brandon Austin, Cheyenne Austin, Destiny Roady, Faith Roady, Bobby McKee, Jr., and Miranda, Ashley, Savannah, Trenton, and Janissa West; brothers, Harold Cumiford of Houston, TX and Fred Cumiford of Springer, NM; and many relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Jack West on November 5, 1974; her parents, Mary Grace and John Henry Cumiford; her brothers, Rollin, Russell, Pete, and Bob Cumiford; and sisters, Thelma, Ula, and Mable. Ruth's oldest grandson, Kevin Wheeler also went to meet the Lord in 1987. She was the daughter of John Henry Cumiford and Mary Grace Mitchell Cumiford. She was married to Jack Franklin West on April 13, 1946. Ruth was baptized in a small country church in Mountainair. She later became a member of First Baptist Church of Bosque Farms. Later in her life she made Alameda Baptist Church her home. Ruth retired from the State of New Mexico where she worked at the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School. Services will be held at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE Friday, February 3, 2006, 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dave Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park on Yale. Pallbearers will be Johnny Tull, Jack Rhoades, Jason West, Shaun West, Brian West, and Wayne Cumiford. SCHWARTZ -- Jeanene M. Schwartz August 8, 1940 - September 14, 2005 Jeanene M. Schwartz of Albuquerque, NM went to be with her Lord Wednesday September 14, 2005 at the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver after a long and courageous battle with hepatitis C and liver cancer. Jeanene was born August 29, 1940 in Amarillo, TX to Frank and Dolores Korte of Freeport, MN. She was raised in Springer, NM where she graduated from Springer High in 1958, and later attended NMSU in Las Cruces. She received her Masters degree from the College of Santa Fe in Human Resources. Jeanene lived and worked in Grants, Santa Fe, and later in Albuquerque, NM where she was the Human Resources Manager for Wackenhut Corporation for the last 20 years. "Jeanie", as we knew her, was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and will always be remembered for her quick smile, positive nature, generous heart and wonderful sense of humor. She was a hard worker and a devoted sister, mother and grandmother. She was an elegant, lovely and gracious woman and an artist. She made pottery and was an expert seamstress. She also had a love of history and would spend many hours researching her families' genealogy. Jeanie is survived by her daughter, Shawna Schwartz and granddaughter, Nicole Nevarez of the family home; her sister, Carolyn Nunez and brother-in-law, Rep. Andy Nunez of Hatch, NM; four nieces, Kim Acosta and husband, Fred of Anthony, NM, Dolores Anderson and husband, George Moreno of Mesilla Park, NM, Kyla Mirabel and husband, Rey of Rio Rancho, NM; Shannon Denny and husband, Dave, of Dona Ana, NM; her step-mother, Helen Schwartz of Springer, NM; 16 great-nieces and -nephews; and three great-great-nieces; several aunts and uncles; and numerous cousins, most of whom reside in Minnesota and New Mexico. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Frank and Dolores; three nieces, Kristina, Christa, and Kelly Jon Nunez; and her step-father, Ignatz Schwartz of Springer, NM. A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, September the 20, 2005 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church on 4020 Lomas Blvd., in Albuquerque, NM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at Our Lady of Fatima at 10 a.m. with Fr Francis Xavier Eggert presiding. Internment will be at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque. A reception will follow. Jeanie asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Catholic Charities of New Mexico and to remind everyone to become an organ donor. Jeanie is with her Lord, with whom she longed to be. My beautiful sister will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her.

SCHWARTZ -- Jeanene M. Schwartz August 8, 1940 - September 14, 2005 Jeanene M. LAUMBACH -- Margaret M. Laumbach 92 of Springer, NM passed away Thursday August 18, 2005 in Raton, NM. She was born May 11, 1913 in Eagle Tail, NM, the daughter of Rudolph and Elizabeth Ferfes Miller. Margaret was a librarian for the City of Springer, a Springer 4-H club leader, a Sunday School teacher for the First United Methodist Church in Springer and had a lifelong interest in the people and history of New Mexico. She is survived by three daughters, Janet Andrews and husband, Ernest of Cambridge, NE, Louise Luft and husband, Phillip of Salisbury, MD, and Ruth Fried and husband, Dave of Austin, TX; one son, Karl Laumbach and wife, Toni of Las Cruces, NM; one brother, Norman Miller of Commerce City, CO; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements for Margaret M. Laumbach are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.

HUSSEY -- Sister Eileen Hussey, OP, 80, died on Thursday, June 16, 2005. Sister Eileen was a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Adrian Michigan. She had ministered in New Mexico for 30 years in Estancia, Rancho de Taos, Springer, Wagon Mound and Albuquerque. Sister Eileen was currently volunteering at Holy Ghost Parish in Albuquerque. Wake service will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 833 Arizona SE, Monday, June 20, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Funeral mass and interment will take place in Adrian Michigan. HUBBARD -- Wayne Hubbard. A Memorial Service will be held for Wayne Hubbard at the First United Methodist Church, 1800 Red Rock Drive, Gallup, NM at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2005. Scattering of the ashes will take place in the Alamitos near the Pecos Wilderness in August. Wayne Elmo Hubbard, 84, lost his battle with throat cancer on Wednesday, June 15, 2005. He was born on September 6, 1920 in Thatcher, AZ, the third of nine children to Rollin and Jennie Hubbard. While Wayne was a young child, the family moved to Gila, NM. Father and sons worked as hunter guides, blacksmiths, miners, manual laborers and cowboys. Wayne often worked for the US Forest Service, building trails and fighting fire in the Gila Wilderness, camping for weeks or months at a time. He developed skills in this environment which shaped the rest of his life. He worked with horses most of his early life. Horses, camping and fishing were Wayne's life long loves. After Wayne graduated from Cliff High School in 1938, he moved to Morenci, AZ, to work as a blacksmith in the copper smelter. Six months to the minute after Pearl Harbor, Wayne was sworn into the US Navy. He served in the Pacific Theater and took part in several beach landings. He advanced to the rank of Boatswains Mate First Class and served until 1946. After an Honorable Discharge, Wayne attended New Mexico State University under the G.I. Bill majoring in aviation mechanics and working as a truck driver and mechanic to support himself. Here he met and married Jeannette Spless. Wayne was recalled into the navy when their first child, Lina was four months old. He served in Korea for a year before returning home and completing college. He and Jeannette had two more children, Marian and Benjamin. He completed a B.A. in industrial arts and education and M.A. in educational administration. Wayne served youth, his communities and state of New Mexico for 29 years. He was a teacher and principal at New Mexico Boys' School in Springer. He was counselor, assistant principal and principal of Gallup High School retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Elks club. Wayne is survived by his wife, Jeannette; a daughter, Marian Hubbard; a granddaughter, Katherine Gould; a grandson, Jared DeMarais; sister, Fern Utton; five brothers, Hugh, Owen, Harold, Grant and Gary and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Marion; a sister, Ruth Hulsey; a daughter, Lina Gould Heacock; and son, Benjamin. Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First United Methodist Building Fund or a charity of your choice. The family's heartfelt thanks goes to Hospice.
