WEST -- Ruth West, 87, born May 31, 1918 in Mountainair, NM, departed this life on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 and took her first breath in Heaven. She is survived by her children: Sharon Wheeler and husband, Bob of Elmore City, OK, Harvey Lee "Butch" West and Debbie of Los Lunas, NM, and Grace West of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Leighanna Austin, Jackie McKee, and Charylene Bell of Oklahoma, Brian West of Roswell, NM, and Jason and Shaun West of Los Lunas, NM; 15 great-grandchildren, Cameron Wheeler, Kevin King, Kelly Bell, Christian Bell, Tabitha Austin, Brandon Austin, Cheyenne Austin, Destiny Roady, Faith Roady, Bobby McKee, Jr., and Miranda, Ashley, Savannah, Trenton, and Janissa West; brothers, Harold Cumiford of Houston, TX and Fred Cumiford of Springer, NM; and many relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Jack West on November 5, 1974; her parents, Mary Grace and John Henry Cumiford; her brothers, Rollin, Russell, Pete, and Bob Cumiford; and sisters, Thelma, Ula, and Mable. Ruth's oldest grandson, Kevin Wheeler also went to meet the Lord in 1987. She was the daughter of John Henry Cumiford and Mary Grace Mitchell Cumiford. She was married to Jack Franklin West on April 13, 1946. Ruth was baptized in a small country church in Mountainair. She later became a member of First Baptist Church of Bosque Farms. Later in her life she made Alameda Baptist Church her home. Ruth retired from the State of New Mexico where she worked at the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School. Services will be held at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE Friday, February 3, 2006, 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dave Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park on Yale. Pallbearers will be Johnny Tull, Jack Rhoades, Jason West, Shaun West, Brian West, and Wayne Cumiford. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Thursday, February 2, 2006, 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE 275-3500
