Austin -- Don G. Austin, age 83, passed away on April 24, 1999. He was born to Lloyd and Essie Austin in Scottsville, KY on January 31, 1916. He is survived by his wife, Betty of the family home; children, Diantha Vallentine and Keith Austin of Albuquerque; sister, Joyce Faulknor of Alexander, VA; grandchildren, Amber, Casie and Ashelie Austin and Courtney and Kayla Vallentine; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Austin. Before retirement, he was employed as a tool and die maker. He lived in the Rio Rancho area for 14 years and the Albuquerque area for 38 years. He served in the US Army during WWII. Visitation was held on Monday, April 26, 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the chapel of Rio Rancho Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 27 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Si Budagher officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Ball -- Douglas R. Ball, 47, a native of Albuquerque, died Saturday, April 24, 1999 after a long illness. A devoted son, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor, he was preceded in death by his parents, Myrl W. and Gladys F. Ball; and his oldest sister, Anne Marie Ball. He is survived by his sister, Alice C. Rakes of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; three brothers, Roy E. Ball and Nelson T. Ball of Albuquerque, and Kenneth M. Ball of Conifer, Colorado; three nephews; two nieces and many wonderful friends and relatives of all ages. Doug was a graduate of Valley High School and the University of Albuquerque, a Sunday school teacher and a choir member at Harwood United Methodist Church. Arrangements are pending. Bowen -- Jimmy Bowen, 80, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, April 23, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Weeta A. Bowen of Albuquerque; sons, Jimmy Leroy Bowen and wife, Shirley of Roswell, NM, Douglas Bowen and wife, Mary and Dan Bowen and wife, Carri, all of Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; sister, Viola Vangundy of Mesa, AZ; and many other family and friends. He was a member of the International Union of Operation Engineers Local #953 and served his country during WWII in the Battle of the Bulge. Services will be held Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming, NE, with Chaplain Sandra S. Bess, officiating. Bowman -- Billy Paul Bowman, age 63, a resident of Albuquerque since 1972, loving husband and father, passed away April 23, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janet Bowman; three sons, Mark and wife, Jessica Bowman of Los Lunas, William and wife, Kim Bowman of Albuquerque, Rodney and wife, Cindy Rutledge of El Paso; daughter and son-in-law, Rose and Lou Jaramillo of Dallas; two brothers, Wilson Bowman and wife, Verna of Scottsdale, AZ, George Bowman and wife, Loree of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Faye Goracke Bowman of Casa Verde, AZ, Jenny Meller of Arizona; seven grandchildren, Eleanor, Brandi Bowman of Albuquerque, Lucas Bowman of Albuquerque, Ryan and Meghan Rutledge and Corina Jaramillo of Dallas, TX; preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude and George Bowman of Arizona. He will be missed deeply by all who knew him for his kindness and generosity. He will be deeply missed by his family. Our hearts are broken for losing such a wonderful man, but we were blessed to have had him in our lives. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 27, 1999, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. Corbin -- Harry Corbin, age 80, of Miles City, Montana, formerly of Albuquerque, NM, passed away Saturday, April 24, 1999 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City. Vigil services will be held Tuesday, April 27, at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 28, at 10:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Custer County Cemetery.

Gann -- John W. Gann, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1986, died Sunday, April 25, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth F. Gann; sons, Jay Gann and Robert Gann; and other family including Gracen Johnson, Carole Gann, Kimberly Garber, Melinda Reeder, David Gann, Sybil Evans; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Gann served his country during WWII in the US 8th Air Force. He was a former resident of Dallas, TX, where he was a member of Urban Park Baptist Church and worked 45 years for Southwestern Bell Telephone. Mr. Gann was also a member of the original Dallas Newsboys Club. He loved to attend Hoffmantown Church on television. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Pastor Ken Moore officiating. Garcia -- Martha C. Garcia, 87, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, April 25, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Irene Rose Rael and husband, Justin of Alpine, CA; sons, Richard W. Garcia and wife, Laura, Robert L. Garcia, Bernie J. Garcia and wife, Laura, all of Albuquerque, and Ernest R. Garcia and wife, Barbara of Vancouver, WA; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Sammie Chavez and wife, Arcie of Albuquerque; special niece, Marie Elena Sanchez and husband, Waldo of Albuquerque; and other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nevarez A. Garcia; grandson, Larry B. Garcia; and great-granddaughter, Janine Pino. Mrs. Garcia was a member of Queen of Heaven Parish. Geoffrion -- The family of Henry E. Geoffrion would like to thank their family and friends for their loving support during their recent bereavement. A heartfelt thank you to Robert Montoya and the Albuquerque Fire Department Honor Guard for Henry and his grandson's last ride on his last alarm with the City of Las Vegas Fire Department. A most sincere thank you to Aunt Marie Ulibarri and family for allowing Henry's final resting place with his Grandma Pina who taught him Christ's presence in the Blessed Sacrament. Most importantly to Father George Salazar for the beautiful homily, gospel, and Mass and his inspirational words of comfort. To Deacon Luis Casaus for his support and graveside blessings. The Hermano Cruzados for reciting the Rosary and his brothers and sisters in Christ who provided the music, for the Rosary and the Mass (which Henry loved). Gordon -- Mrs. Lillian V. Gordon, 70, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on April 25, 1999. Mrs. Gordon is the beloved mother of one daughter, Jan Hutchinson and one son, David Dees and wife, Liz. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Ann, Michelle, Butch, Jose, Sherilynn and Tommy; two sisters, Mildred Sharp and Johnny Sue Parks; two brothers, Richard Parks and Jack Parks and wife, Glenda; five great-grandchildren, Terridon, Zackary, Taziann, Jason and Arieann. Griffin -- Bernett E. Griffin, (Ed), 60, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 24, 1999. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Geraldine Griffin; two sons, Tony Griffin, Tracy Griffin and wife, Sandra; a daughter, Trulee Griffin and fiancee, Randy Lucero; four grandchildren, Sam, Chad, Adrian, and Nicole. Also, surviving are parents, Bernett Griffin and Ava Bassham; sisters, Ruby Nichols and husband, Marvin, Cauletta Stumbaugh; brother, Perry Bassham and wife, Kelly; many nieces, nephews and friends. Ed was a retired Lieutenant form the Albuqueque Police Department where he served 27 devoted years. He was also a past president and member of the Fraternal Order of Police for the past 39 years. He served in the US Army and was a graduate of Northwestern University. Services will be held at Hillside Community Church, 435 Jefferson SE on Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. with Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. A gathering to honor Ed Griffin will be held at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge following the Interment.
