ATENCIO, VITA Age 82, beloved and devoted wife, mother, and sister, passed away peacefully at her home, Saturday, September 27, 2014. She was a longtime resident of Los Alamos, NM, where she was a member of the United Church of Los Alamos, and was currently residing in Albuquerque. Vita was a wonderful aunt to all of her beloved nephews and nieces. She never forgot a birthday or special occasion important to those she loved. Before her illness, Vita enjoyed cooking and baking. She was famous for her delicious brownies, among other things she loved to sing, play hymns on the piano and listen to music. Vita had a green thumb and had her home full of beautiful plants and flowers. She was preceded in death by her by her parents, Clorinda and Leopoldo Martinez; her brothers, Arsenio, Orlando, Leo and Ramon Martinez; and her son, Orlando Atencio. Vita is survived by loving husband of 61 years, Nelson Q. Atencio; her precious daughter, Anna Atencio; her sisters, Mae Martinez of Espanola, NM, Susie Holmes of Northglenn, CO, and Frances Martinez and husband Leo of Albuquerque, NM; two honorary daughters whom she loved as her own, Michelle Rinaldi and Grace Hernandez; and many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Vita will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those whose hearts she touched. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and volunteers of Sol Amor Hospice for their support and loving care over the past year and half. Also we are forever grateful for the team of angels that provided daily care for Vita, especially, Grace, Barbara, Nikki, Emma and Isabel, we love you. BACA, ANTHONY DOMINIC age 59, passed away peacefully at Lovelace Hospital in the Gentiva Hospice Unit on September 27, 2014. He was preceded in death by beloved son Adam Dominic Baca; his parents Antonio D. and Carmen R. Baca; his brother Philip A. Baca; his nephew Stephen Baca Jr.; and his brother-in-law Clare Casey. He is survived by his loving daughter Maggie Baca; loving grandchildren: Carlos Julian Romero, Aurora Baca and Audrey Baca; his siblings: Linda Casey Poepsel and husband Jim, Rebecca Castellano and husband, Orlando, Francis Baca and wife Lucero, Mary Orr and husband Gary, Deborah Baca and Stephen Baca; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him as well as his very special Auntie Vangie Baca. He is also survived by his former wife and dear friend Dorothy Starr and her husband Clark. Anthony was born and raised in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He relocated to Albuquerque in 2002 to be close to his daughter and her family. Anthony spent his entire life in retail work starting when he was 16 years old at Safeway in Las Vegas. And in his later years, he did lots of volunteer work. But mostly he will be remembered for his generosity and kindness to all. He took selfless care of his mother for several years until her passing in 2000. He enjoyed his home and always kept it clean and homey for himself and a steady stream of family and friends who visited. He was "Grandpa Duck" to his grandchildren and to all their friends all of whom have had dinner at his home. He loved to cook and to eat with family and friends. A celebration of Anthony's life will take place Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Lodge at 1101 Indian School Rd NE, 87102. BERRY, JANET E. Jan (Eabry) Berry passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, September 26, 2014. She was born May 30, 1946 in Staten Island, NY. She is preceded in death by her mother, father and her daughter Amanda Lynn. She leaves behind her husband of 36 years Johnnie Berry; her daughter Jennifer (Berry) Urioste; her son-in-law Daniel; and her two grandsons who were her pride and joy, Daniel and Austin; along with her brother Stephen Eabry of California. Jan was an RN for 35 years and worked for Lovelace and UNM hospitals before retiring from Presbyterian as the RN clinical supervisor in 2000. She and her husband then moved to Pie Town, NM where they built their retirement home and enjoyed the outdoors. Jan was a wonderful wife, mother and friend and will be deeply missed by everyone she knew. There will be no funeral services for her as she requested to be remembered with a party; therefore a private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

BINYON, JOSEPH "JOE" E. Age 87, passed away Friday, September 26, 2014. He was born in Christoval , TX on March 6, 1927, to William and Dorothy Binyon. He graduated from Captain High School in 1948 and attended New Mexico State for veterinary studies. Joseph joined the United States Navy in 1945. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Roberta Lee Binyon, Sybil Estell Binyon Cook, Mary Emma Binyon Allen, Jo Nell Binyon Palo; brother, Raymond Russell Binyon. Joseph is survived by his wife of 31 years, Gail Binyon of Albuquerque, NM; sons, Robert E. Binyon of Albuquerque, NM, Russell Z. Binyon of Gold Canyon, AZ, Michael L. Binyon of Albuquerque, NM, Stephen M. Binyon of Albuquerque, NM; step-daughter, Karin L. Cahill of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, six; great-grandchildren, two. Over the years he worked as a rancher in Corona, NM, at Radiation Inc., EG&G Inc., Tri-O and Gelco. Joseph enjoyed traveling, music, being a musician, fishing, his family, football, golf, reading, and coaching Little League. CISCO, MARVIN T. age 77, died Wednesday, 9/24/2014. Marvin was preceded in death by his father, Marin and mother, Grethal. He served as pastor of Central UMC, First UMC, St. John's UMC of Albuquerque, and other churches for nearly 50 years of ministry. He is survived by wife, Martha; four children and their spouses; two brothers; sisters-in-law; a sister and brother-in-law; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. GIRON, ERNESTINE D. 1939-2014 Ernestine D. Giron, age 75, a lifelong resident of Los Lunas, NM passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014. She was a member of the San Clemente Parish. Ernestine retired from the Village of Los Lunas after 27 years of outstanding service. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Edward Giron; parents, Dolores and Concepcion Montez DeAnda; siblings, Lorenzo, Eddie and Julia DeAnda, Frances Aragon and Mattie Williams. Ernestine is survived by her daughter, LaDonna Giron; son, Kenneth Giron and daughter-in-law, Marquita Torres; grandchildren, LaRae Vigil, Jake Giron and Gloria Bustamante. KNIGHT, DONALD CLIFTON age 87 of Albuquerque, passed away on Friday September 26, 2014 at an Albuquerque hospital. He was born May 31, 1927 in Brockton, MA the third of seven children to Allan and Sarah (Hall) Knight. Don was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister, his beloved wife of 57 years, Wilhelmine (Obladen) and his grandson Kenneth J. Schnoor. He is survived by his children Tom Thompson (Kathy) of Frankfort, KY, Bonnie Schnoor (Ken) of Albuquerque, NM and Don Knight (Elaine) of Colorado Springs, CO. He is also survived by his grandchildren, JD Schnoor (Janelle), Alicia Gingrich (Phil), Catherine Vest (Ryan) and Donald H. Knight; three great- grandchildren; two brothers; one sister; and many nieces and nephews. His family moved to Maine when he was 2 years old, where they lived until he was 17. The family then moved to San Francisco when his father took a job in the ship yards. Don joined the Army and served in Japan during the Korean War. While stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco, he met and married the love of his life, whom he was devoted to until her death in 2009. Don retired as a First Sergeant (E8) from Head Quarters Company/Head Quarters Element, Sandia Army Base, Albuquerque, NM in June of 1970. He had received many medals and awards during his career. After retirement he started a second career with Mountain State's Financial where he retired as a VP. Don was a member of Queen of Heaven Parish, where he served as a Eucharist Minister for a number of years at both his church and at Presbyterian Hospital. He loved to play golf, cribbage, cards and enjoyed traveling. He was a great story teller, loved to laugh and always had a twinkle in his eye. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but to all who knew him knows he is delighted to be reunited with his Wilhelmine in the mansion that God has prepared for them. An evening service of remembrance and memories will be held at 7:00 p.m. at French - Wyoming on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the Queen of Heaven Parish, 5311 Phoenix Ave. NE, Albuquerque. NAVARRETE, MARY ALICE Mary Alice Navarrete, 78, beloved Wife, Mother, and Sister, was called to her eternal resting place on September 25, 2014. She entered this world on May 23, 1936 in Cerro, NM, born to Juan and Claudina Segura, now deceased. NEWLIN, WALTER C. Walter C. Newlin was born on February 12, 1932 and passed on September 27, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Priscilla Girard Newlin; his 100 year old mother, Vivian Fox and her husband, M. D. Fox; daughters, LaTreasa Gooden, Lanette Rael Garcia and Gloria Wilson who became a part of the family in 1974; grandchildren, Joseph Frank Newlin, Deanna LaForce, Dawn Moguel-Gooden, Andrea Rapanos, Nicholas Rael, Matthew Garcia, Bernadette Becerra, Antoinette Aragon, and Anthony Maestas; fifteen great- grandchildren and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his son, Walter Leslie Newlin. Walter served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict and received two Bronze Stars. He was a Sprint car racer and had two antique cars, a Sheet Metal Worker with Local 49 and just received his 50 year pin; he served several years as President of Local 49 and is currently President of the Retired Sheet Metal Workers Local 49. He was still active with Boy Scouts of America and his church, Prince of Peace Lutheran. He was always laughing and liked to tell jokes. PELZMAN, BRENDA SUE passed away peacefully at home and went to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 25, 2014 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer for over three years. She was born in Pensacola, Florida on May, 13, 1959. She is survived by her husband, Philip and their two sons Charles and Avery; mother & father, Marjorie and Noel Keller; her sister Traci and her husband Mike Eberle; twin brothers, Duane Keller & Kevin Keller and his wife Julie; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. A graduate of Cal State Fullerton, she spent 15 years in retail display and merchandising with Mervyns, raised two sons and spent the last nine years as a teacher aide for preschoolers and kindergarteners at Christ Lutheran School. Brenda was blessed with artistic abilities which she put to use in making church banners, crafts and homemaking. Brenda was fun-loving, friendly and kind, but was not one to take what she considered her personal obligations lightly. She gave selflessly of her time to church, family, work, and friends putting others ahead of herself, even during her illness and her teaching touched the lives of hundreds of kids. She will truly be missed. A service of Praise and Thanksgiving will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 7701 Candelaria Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110 on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Christ Lutheran School Library.

WALDRON, DOROTHY L. 80 years old, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 27, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was a wonderful example of a great woman of faith, courage and strength. She was preceded in death by her five siblings and her very devoted and loving husband, Barton S. Waldron. She is survived by her sons and daughter: Bart Waldron and wife, Terrie, Robert Waldron and wife, Gail, and Anna Gurule and husband, Leroy. She is, also survived by 11 grandchildren: Stephanie, Kelli, Erin, Kristy, Shawn, Kristi, Bart Jr., Danny, Micheal, Tim and Ryan and their spouses; 28 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. We would like to send our thanks to the staff of Ambercare Hospice, Ann, Rachel, Jay, Beth, Jeanette, Pastor Richard, and Jessica, and to the entire staff of Daniels Family Funeral Services. You were all wonderful to our mother. WEISS, MICHAEL H. Age 76, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014. He was born in Bronx, NY on June 14, 1938, to George and Sylvia Weiss. He was preceded in death by his parents. Michael is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rochelle Weiss; children, Stephanie Weiss Baym and husband Mitch of Schrewsbury, NJ, Karen Weiss Hemmerdinger and husband Barry of Annandale, VA, Marc Weiss and wife Meg, of Bonita Springs, FL; grandchildren, Levi, Reuben, Jacob, Faith, Hadley, and Charley; and brother, Edward Weiss. Michael loved to travel, especially on cruises. He was the owner of Albert Weiss Machine Shop for fifty years before retiring, then worked for Target Stores.
