BRICENO, APRIL age 26, born September 10, 1987, was taken too soon on Sunday, June 8, 2014. April was just starting college. She had a cat named Clancy. Her favorite food was pizza, but only because she loved the Ninja Turtles. COWABUNGA, DUDE! April's favorite color was blue, she hated onions and her nicknames were Apry, Aubrey and Pumpkin. She was goofy, stubborn, caring and loved with her whole heart. April was beautiful, inside and out. Even through her own troubles in life she focused her love and attention on others trying to be the sunshine on their rainy day. April is survived by sisters Brittany and Crystal; her brother, Kyle and her half- sister, Lisa; as well as many other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. CEBADA, GERALD B. age 60, born in Salt Lake City, UT, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Gerald is survived by his beloved wife of forty years, Bennita; daughter, Virginia Cebada and fiance, Jude Sanchez; son, Thomas Gerald Cebada; great-grandmother, Rosario Benavidez; grandchildren, Ruby B. Cebada and Roberto (R.J.) Santiago; sisters, Delilah Padilla and Veronica Pacheco; brothers, Randy Cebada and Steve Cebada; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gerald was preceded in death by his father, Eloy and Ruby Cebada; mother, Martha Benavidez; grandmother, Veronica Crespin; grandfather, Eusebio Benavidez. ELFNER, GERTI Gerti Elfner, born May 29, 1924, in Pforzheim, Germany, left this world on June 19, 2014, in Tucson, AZ. Survived by son Eric in Seattle, son Axel and daughter-in-law Leslie in Tucson. Dedicated wife & mother, she survived the world's worst and appreciated the world's best. Good, smart, strong, decent, honest. She came to America in 1955 with nothing, ran a successful automotive repair shop with husband, Hermann, and made a good life for her family in Albuquerque, NM. She was loved, and she will be missed. Rest in peace, mom - you did well, and you've given enough.

GALLEGOS, HORACIO Horacio Gallegos passed away on June 22, 2014 at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Rose; daughters Michelle and husband David Ocana, Ivonne and husband Rene Garfio, Leticia Gallegos; and grandchildren Leila Ocana, Elena and Ross Garfio. He retired from Abq Publishing in 2012 after 41 years. GARCIA, DAVID (CHUTE/JR) AND ROSE M. Both age 83, passed at home within 86 hours of each other in the loving arms of their five daughters (dolls): Dorothy Montoya, Diana Baumgardner, husband Robert, Danette Peavy, husband Keith, Denise Villanueva, husband Andy, and Dina Benavidez. They were blessed with 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. David and Rose were married over 61 years and resided in Albuquerque. David served in the Army for three years and was stationed in Germany during the Korean war. He retired from the US Postal Service, after 38 years. Rose was a loving housewife. "God will link the broken chain as one by one we meet again. In our hearts they will always stay, loved and remembered everyday". Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 28th at Holy Family Church, 562 Atrisco Drive, SW. GULIFORD, ERNEST A. Ernest Alvin Guliford was born on July 09, 1938 to loving parents, Lazelle Guliford Sr. and Virginia Lona Thompson in Great Bend, Kansas. Ernie is the fourth eldest of 15 children. On Friday, June 20, 2014, Ernest made his transition. JENNINGS, BETTE JOAN "JO" Age 92, peacefully passed on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at home in Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by her brother, Ralph Rider and sister-in-law, Betty; and her children, Michael Jennings and daughter-in-law, Gwen, Patrick Jennings, Maureen Gonzales, and Bruce McIntosh, and Barbara Jennings. Known as "Granny" to many, she adored her nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph and son, Richard "Tim." Raised in Chickasha, Oklahoma, she met her airman sweetheart while working at the Chickasha Field US Army Air Force training school and later they married. As a supportive military wife, she moved with her husband during his 21 years of service from San Antonio to Alaska. They eventually chose New Mexico as home. At her core, Jo was an artist putting her unique style and creativity into everything that she did. She was a vibrant potter who contributed to the developing art community in NM, a painter, seamstress extraordinaire, and a piano player. She was a wonderfully true friend, incredibly considerate of animals, and renowned for her stories and her luck in the casinos. Generosity and kindness were among her traits and there was always room at her table and a bed for the weary. She was courageous and curious and lived to experience everything from the first automobiles to iPads. An expert gardener, cook, and fearless driver (in all conditions), she enjoyed collecting wooden Nutcrackers and putting them on display at Christmas. A natural teacher, she loved to school anyone on everything from biscuit baking to the species of birds at her feeders. During her later years in Chama, she became especially protective of the bears that came down in search of food. Jo had many wonderful caregivers to whom the family is deeply grateful. The last few years she lived at home with her granddaughter, Jillian who provided her great care, unending love and peace to the end. There will be an interment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe on Friday, June 27, 2014, 12:45 p.m. and a reception following at 3001 Betatakin Circle, Santa Fe. There will be a reception in Albuquerque on Saturday, June 28, 2014, 2:00 p.m., at 4161 Chama NE. KIRKLAND, KARIN Karin passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 23rd. She was and is much loved and will be missed by her family, husband Russ of 53 years; daughters Lee Ann and Dana; sons-in-law Patrick and John; granddaughters Holly and Hillary; and her sister, Jane and her family; as well as countless dear friends. Karin was born in Morgantown, WV. She graduated from McKeesport High School in McKeesport, and attended Grove City College, both in PA. Russ and Karin moved to Socorro in 1979 to operate the Sears catalogue store, and Karin subsequently owned and operated the JC Penney catalogue store. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, and had passions for gardening, jewelry making, and animal welfare. She volunteered with APAS and worked at the Socorro city animal shelter. Services will be held Saturday, June 28th at 11:00am at the First Presbyterian Church in Socorro. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Animal Humane Society would be appreciated.

LACASSAGNE, CONNIE Consuelo (Connie) Lacassagne was born February 4, 1928 in Santa Fe, NM to Melinda Delgado Lacassagne and Paul Lacassagne who predeceased her. She went to be with the Lord on June 22, 2014. She was predeceased by her sisters: Adelina Fresquez, Isabel Ortiz, Josina Romero, Lucy McCachren, Tessie Romero and their spouses. Connie is survived by sisters: Frances Ortiz, and Viola Manzanares and husband, Horace. Connie was very special to and much loved by the family of Gloria and Brian Wells. MACKIE, DANIEL E., CPA Daniel Earl Mackie, 77, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was suddenly called home to our Lord on June 20, 2014 in Albuquerque, NM. He was surrounded by his loving family as he embarked on his journey. Daniel is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eugenia Carol Mackie. He served honorably in the US Air Force where, at Cannon AFB in Clovis, NM he met Eugenia, his soul mate, and married May 27, 1957. They recently celebrated their 57th anniversary. He is also survived by his children Lisa Mackie (Maryland), Linda Mackie (Albuquerque) and Mark Mackie (Atlanta); his four loving grandchildren, Gavin Grant, Alexis Holwerda, Spencer Mackie, Griffin Mackie and his brother Dennis Mackie and wife Patricia of Nebraska. Daniel's parents Neva and Homer, his brother Bill, his sisters Peggy, Betty and Mildred plus his in-laws Grady and Ernestine Tucker were waiting for him in heaven. Daniel was the owner of Mackie & Company and co-owner of Mackie, Reid & Company, Certified Public Accountants for most of his adult life. In November 2013, Dad was honored with a "50 Years of Excellence" award from the NM Society of CPA's. Dan's heart and soul went into building the business to where it was when he recently semi-retired. Dan also leaves behind those friends, associates, and clients that meant so much to him. His love and devotion to his family is what will be most remembered. As Dan would say, my number is up I won't be far away, for life goes on. You've received my wisdom. I know you will carry on. MARTINEZ, ELMER C. Age 55, a resident of Albuquerque, born and raised in Chimayo, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerbacio and Sabinta Martinez; brothers, Billy and Gerald Martinez all of Chimayo. As a young man he enjoyed cruising the streets of Espanola and Albuquerque. He enjoyed fishing, camping, painting and working with wood (carpentry). He loved to take long walks along the bosque better known to his grandchildren as "Around the World". PADILLA, ERNIE Ernie Padilla, age 51, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona on October 14, 1962 and was a resident of Los Lunas since 1974. He loved the outdoors, walking, and time with his family. He was adored by his nieces and nephews and everyone who knew him, could tell you stories of his kindness. He was preceded in death by his father, Eloy Padilla Sr., nephews Michael Montiel and baby Jaime Andujo. Ernie is survived by his mother Rosemary Padilla; his brother Eloy Padilla and his wife Hue; his brother Sam Padilla; sister Yolanda Vialpando and her husband Mike; his sister Barbara Chambers and her husband Norman; brother Troy Padilla and his wife Tammy; his sister Marcy Gonzales and her husband Mike; and many loving nieces and nephews. SANCHEZ, CLARA Clara Sanchez, 78 years of age and currently of Albuquerque, NM, went to be with the Lord on June 22, 2014. Clara was born in Mogollon, NM, in 1936 and lived most of her life in Hurley and Albuquerque, NM. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Victorina Soto and three brothers. Clara is survived by husband of 54 years Mike Sanchez; her son Michael Sanchez and wife Gina and granddaughter Mikeyla; her daughter, Victoria Sanchez and her grandson Leighton Stewart. Other survivors are her eight brothers and five sisters. They are Edward Soto and wife Lupe, Richard Soto and wife Naomi, Joe Soto, Ernie Soto and wife Barbara, Tony Soto and wife Vellia, Frank Soto and wife Rosa, Ray Soto and wife Bertha, Chris Soto and wife Hilda. SERRANO, ANSELMO Anselmo "Al" Serrano, age 80, went to be with the Lord on June 24, 2014. He is predeceased by his parents: Leandro and Eva Serrano; brothers: Bill and George Serrano; and grandson Evan Sandoval. Anselmo is survived by his wife of 44 years Sadie Serrano; daughters: Trinny and Agustin Aragon, Tina De La Luz and partner Marian Berg, Leona and Juan Martinez, Theresa and Larwrence Smith, Michelle and John A. Padilla, Eva and Robert Sandoval, Andrea Serrano, and Kimberly Rodriguez; sister Frances Madrid; 17 grandchildren nine great- grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be: Carlos Garcia, Robert Sellars, Tomas Giron, James Sellars, Antonio Tafoya, and Rodolfo Rodriguez. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
