 MARTINEZ, ELMER C. Age 55, a resident of Albuquerque, born and raised in Chimayo, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerbacio and Sabinta Martinez; brothers, Billy and Gerald Martinez all of Chimayo. As a young man he enjoyed cruising the streets of Espanola and Albuquerque. He enjoyed fishing, camping, painting and working with wood (carpentry). He loved to take long walks along the bosque better known to his grandchildren as "Around the World". Mr. Martinez was survived by his wife, Teresa Martinez of Albuquerque; children, Charmaine Martinez and fiancee Manuel Cordova, Cynthia Martinez and husband Clyde Cordova, Eric Martinez and wife Marlene Ronquillo-Martinez, Eugene Martinez and girlfriend Angelica Trujillo all of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren, who were his whole world; godchildren, Andrea Romero and Thomas Fernandez; in-laws and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. A second Rosary will be recited on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Therese of the Infant Catholic Church in Albuquerque. Honorary pallbearers named will be: Ariana, Brielle and Diego Martinez, Jonathan Gutierrez, Athena, Lailah and Raelynn Martinez, Dominic Ronquillo, Kieran, Tristan and Cahalyn Cordova, MJ, Alyssa and Jacob Cordova, Andrea Romero and Thomas Fernandez.
