TOURVILLE -- Robert Ransom Tourville - "Bob Ransom" passed into Eternity on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. Born in Duluth, MN on November 2, 1927, strikingly handsome and amazingly talented - from a young age Bob commanded the attention of any room he entered. He was blessed with the gift of music; a piano player extraordinaire, playing seemingly without effort from the young age of five. His interests were many; an avid reader, he had a love for all things nautical, a fervor fueled by the view from his back porch of his beloved Lake Superior. Bob was brilliant in all that he endeavored, a genius in regard to both his mind and his hands; he was well versed on just about any subject and could build virtually anything. His passion, however, was the piano and the magic he was able to draw forth from it when he sat in front of its keys. After being honorably discharged from serving his country in WWII, he began what would be a distinguished career in music in 1949 at the New Yorker Hotel and later appeared at other leading East Coast hotels and clubs. Following a guest spot on the "Arthur Godfrey Show" he began touring the nation with his versatile piano style. In the late fifties, his position as headliner at the prestigious Western Skies Hotel is what brought him to Albuquerque, where his children still reside. In 1975 he released an album titled "From Aspen with Love" garnering rave reviews and accolades such as "The Musician's Musician" from critics. His adoration of all things musical was matched only by his devotion to our Lord and his love for his large extended family. His marriage to Marcella "Mickey" produced six daughters and one son; each of whom he loved in his own special way. He was preceded in death by the parents he adored, Ransom and Theresa and his son-in-law Tommy. He is survived by his first love and the mother of his children, Marcella "Mickey"; daughter Claudette and husband Bill, their children Shyra, Shannyn and David and grandchildren Skylour, Haleigh, Kamden, Lohgyn and Hays. Daughter Yvonne and her children Tessa, Travis, Troy, Tatum and Saravahn and grandchildren Tea, Jolie, Lucille, Stella, Xion, Elisadaye, Emma and Thomas. Daughter Dianna and husband Bryan and their sons Bryan and Joe. Daughter Renee' and her children Nathan, Dean and Rachel and grandson Tristan. His precious son, Robert; daughter Mary and husband Rob, their children Taylour and Hunter and grandchildren Gunner, Slade, and Hadley. Daughter Taunya and husband Paul and granddaughter Jaden. He is also survived by his sister Joan; brother Jack and wife Bev, brother Duane and wife Barbara, sister Margaret as well as sister Carol and husband Norm, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his dear friend of many years, Bunny Murphy. Bob's life will be celebrated this Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Chapel Albuquerque, 4001 Osuna Rd. Please join us as we say "See you soon". VILLAS -- Ernie J. Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I'm following the path God has laid, you see. I took His hand when I heard Him call I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. Friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss Oh yes, these things I, too, will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I've savored much, Good friends, good times, my family's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee, God wanted me...he set me free. In loving memory of Ernie J. Villas, who lost his battle with Lupus a year ago today, April 14, 2010. Ernie, we miss you dearly each day we are apart. You are, and will be, forever in our hearts.
