Gilbert Casaus, age 84, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cuba, NM and was a resident of Albuquerque. Gilbert served his country in the United States Army, during World War II. Gilbert is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Gertrude Casaus; three sons, Gilbert Casaus and wife Christina, Jerry and Ernie Casaus; four daughters, Theresa Padilla and husband Lawrence, Gloria Jean Padilla and husband Rick, Sandra and Bernadette Casaus; his grandchildren, Anthony, Stephanie, Lawrence, Mark, Cheryl, Lisa, Catrina, Rita, Giovanni, and Judah; and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Dolores Martinez, Carolina Casaus, and Lila Casaus; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gilbert will be greatly missed by all. A Rosary will be recited today (Thursday) at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary. Interment will take place Friday, April 15, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be conducted Monday at 10:00 a.m. at San Jose Mission De Duranes. Casket Bearers will be Mark Padilla, Lawrence Padilla, Chris Casaus, Ricky Martinez, Elmer Martinez, Gabriel Padilla, and Oswaldo Medina. Honorary Bearers will be Santiago Cordova, Amadeo Padilla, Julian Padilla, Giovanni Casaus, Judah Casaus, and George Vigil.
