BACA -- Roland Roland James Baca July 29, 1965- December 31, 2007 My son, it's been two very long years. I miss you very much. Your sisters, Vanessa, Joanna, Shanna and Clarissa have lost the one man that made a difference in their lives. They know you loved them very much. Thank you for being a loving son. BREITLING -- Shirl M. Breitling, 69, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, since 1992, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Alice Bert, also of Albuquerque; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Emily Bert, of Fremont CA; his brother-in-law, Paul Bert, of Albany, OR; his cousin and her husband, Shirlene and Charles Brown, of Albuquerque; and numerous other cousins mostly residing in the Salt Lake City area. Dr. Breitling was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ernest Adolph Breitling and Mildred Morgan Breitling, of Salt Lake City, UT. He was a member of the Albuquerque Flute Association and Friends of Calligraphy. He is a past member of the Utah Orchid Society, Professional Ski Instructors Association, Alta Ski School, the American Chemical Society, Pastel Society of NM, and Escribiente. Dr. Breitling earned a Ph. D. in chemistry from the Univ. of Utah in 1969. He was post-doctoral fellow at the Univ. of Utah until 1973 and then an associate research professor at the Univ. of Pittsburgh until 1976. He worked at Chemical Systems Division in San Jose, CA, from 1978 to 1989; at the AF Rocket Lab at Edwards AFB, CA, until 1992; at AFRL at Kirtland AFB, NM, until 1999; then with Aero Thermo Technology until 2006 when he retired. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 12701 Indian School Rd., NE, Albuquerque, NM, 87112, in the Relief Society Room. C DE BACA -- Marie C. was born February 11, 1928 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Arsenio Vicente C de Baca and Lucy Guerin. On December 27, 2009, in the soft stillness of a Pacific NW night, Marie gracefully took the hand of her LORD, with her daughter, Pamela, by her side. Mass and burial will be held Monday, January 4, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel, Albuquerque, 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE. A true New Mexican, Marie's genealogy dates back to the Onate Spanish re-settlement, the Mexican Period and the U.S. Territorial Period continuing through Statehood. Marie was honored to have strong family roots in NM. Marie felt blessed to share her history with all who would listen. It was not unusual for Marie to sing "Oh Fair New Mexico" to her family members. Marie attended Catholic School in Las Vegas, NM. Marie was awarded a special scholarship to Loretto Heights Catholic College in Denver, Co. Deciding to pursue a career in education, Marie chose to earn a teaching degree from Highlands University. Marie was a student teacher at the Head Start Program in West Las Vegas. Marie taught for the Bernalillo Public School System, where she retired. Marie was a reading specialist at the Santo Domingo School and later an elementary education teacher at Carroll Elementary, with specialized training in bilingual education. Marie lived in Bernalillo until about 2005 and was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. Marie is survived by her two daughters, Cecilia Frances Farris and Pamela Marie Valverde-Smith (Todd). Marie is survived by her grandchildren Roberta Guzman (Orlando), Celeste Miller, Yvette Vargas (Donald), Nicole Smith, Daniel Smith, Jacob Smith, Mikaela Smith. Marie is also survived by her great-grandchildren Jackie Guzman, Ashley Guzman, and Lupe Espinosa. Preceded by Fabian Espinosa. Marie is survived by "always baby brother" Leroy C de Baca and his good wife Anne; three nieces Leanne Weaver (Jeff), Dianne Yoss (Mark), Roxanne Burgos (Mario); four nephews Larry C de Baca (Amy), Anthony C de Baca (Melody), Gene C de Baca and Mike (Ingrid); great-nieces Devan, Lauren, Erin, Julieanne, Jenna, Ashley, Elice and Taylor; great-nephews Jacob, Jeff, Anthony, Griffin and Ethan; great-grand nephew Dakota. CALVERY -- Marie Calvery, 97, gave up her life for a heavenly place with her Savior on December 27, 2009. Marie was born in 1912 in Park Falls, Wisconsin. She married Herman Calvery in 1962 and resided in the Bosque Farms, NM area from 1968 to 1986. Marie is survived by daughters, Linda Mauldin of Tooele, Utah and Shirley Kolski of Darby, Montana; grandchildren, Larita and Nando Mauldin. CLEAR -- Joan Hodge Clear, 77, died peacefully early on the morning of Sunday, December 27, 2009. Joan was born in Coffee, TN on August 31, 1932. She moved to Albuquerque with her family in 1942 where she primarily resided until her death. Joan was preceded in death by Cleo and Benjamin Rodman her parents; four siblings; and a daughter, Debra Ruth Kalm. She is survived by a brother, John "Sonny" Hodge and his wife, Jackie; a sister, Benita Blais and her husband, Mark; a daughter, Pam Grover; a son, Tom Kalm and his wife, Renee', all of Albuquerque; a son, Floyd Kalm and his wife, Terri, of Guymon, OK; granddaughter, Stephanie Miles Koehn and her husband, Michael, and their two children of Broomfield, CO; granddaughter, Kelly Miles Kruse, her husband, Michael, and their three children of Mesa Arizona; grandson, Charles Kalm of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Katrina Kalm Richards her husband, Mathew, and their three sons of Springfield, MO; grandson, Ricky Kalm of Norman, OK; grandson, Karl Kalm and wife, Megan; grandson, Cory Kalm, all of Albuquerque; and many other extended family members and friends. COOLEY -- Mr. Thomas Walter Cooley, 82, of Grenada, died Saturday, December 26, 2009, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson following a stroke. He was born December 1, 1927, in Lobdell, MS, to the late James Rasmus and Ellen Evans Cooley. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Grace, son Thomas Walter, Jr. (Lynn, Logan and Max) of Lunenburg, MA, and daughters, Peggy (Mike) Martin, Albuquerque, NM, Martha (Gregg, Gavin, Dane, Chase and Skyler) Thomas, Gilbert, AZ, and Patricia (Ryan) Schwarz, Albuquerque, NM. Walter attended several schools growing up in Arkansas, Louisiana and Tennessee, completing his education in the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Midway CV-41 for 5 years, attaining rank of Aviation Machinist's Mate Third Class upon honorable discharge in 1951. Mr. Coooley was a retired mechanic, machinist and woodworker. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and Gore Springs Community Club. Walter enjoyed many activities including traveling to Alaska, Hawaii and Mexico. He loved fishing and gardening, while also being a talented artist in silver jewelry making, carving, woodworking, carpentry and furniture making. Walter loved his family, the Lord, his church family and especially pastor Harvey Springer and wife, Joy. He is also survived by three special sisters-in-law, Shirley Cooley, Gloria Chamberlain and Billie Chamberlain and two nieces, Patty Mitchell and Jane Abbey. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 31, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Harvey Springer officiating. Interment will follow at Gore Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 30, 2009, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Garner-Harper Funeral Home. DANA -- Becky Dana, 63, a resident of Albuquerque since 1994, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 28, 2009. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Pastor Marc Dana; brother, Rod Carlile and wife, Joanne; best buddy Cheryl Smith; Becky's church family at Mountainview Baptist Church in Albuquerque; and too many friends to mention. GIBSON -- Michael E. Gibson, born April 4, 1949 in Paris, TX, was a resident of Albuquerque for 52 years. After 20 years with Continental Trailways, Michael went to work for St. Joseph Healthcare Systems in 1988. He retired as security supervisor in 2007. Michael returned to security at Lovelace Healthcare in 2008 where he was employed until his death Friday, December 25, 2009. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd E. Gibson, July 7, 1990 and his mother, Dolores E. Gibson, October 2, 2009. Michael is survived by his sister, Donna Gibson Trujillo and husband, Scott Trujillo; daughter, Joy A. Gibson and husband, Glen R. Finley; son, Joshua E. Gibson and wife, Ann Koch of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Nicole A. and Beatrice S. Gibson, Erin J. Finley; great-grandson, Gavin R. GONZALES -- Maximiliano Victor Gonzales passed away on Friday, December 25, 2009 at the age of 78. He battled Alzheimers Disease for 6 years. He was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico on August 1st, 1931 to Victor Gonzales and Emilia Ortiz Gonzales. There, he went to school, delivered newspapers, delivered milk, and was a Boy Scout. The Gonzales' moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in February 1950. Later that year he joined the US Navy and served through 1954. He began working for Mountain Bell in 1955 and retired in February 1990. It was there that he met his wife of 51 years, Emilie M.Garcia Gonzales. He was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Emilia. He is survived by his wife Emilie, son Tim Gonzales, son Chris Gonzales and his wife Denise, stepgrandson Mark Ozbun and his wife Cyndi and their daughters Taylor, Skylar, and Jayden. His surviving brothers are Arthur Gonzales, Gilbert Gonzales and his wife Marlene, and Victor Gonzales and his wife Jane. He will be missed by his immediate family and all of his nephews and nieces and friends. Max loved working for Ma Bell. He had a great sense of humor and loved his family very much. He was an avid fisherman and Lobo fan. He became a favorite of many at both Sterling Memory Care Center and Desert Hills Memory Care Center. We encourage donations to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers. Services are to be determined and will take place in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

HARBIN -- Patricia Alice Harbin, 87, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2009. She is survived by her children, Diana Campisi and husband, Frank, of Houston, David Harbin and wife, Bonnie, Stephen Harbin and wife, Angie, Marilyn Adragna and husband, Frank, Kathleen Harbin of Houston, Lisa Harbin, who was also her beloved companion and caregiver, and Richard Harbin; her grandchildren, Rachel Honza, Scott Walker and wife, Impala, Patrick Harbin, Jennifer Price, Meredith Boles and husband, James, Heather Terry and husband, Keith, Shannon Adragna, Ryan Adragna, Teal Harbin, Sienna Harbin, and Jadyn Harbin; great-grandchildren, Damian Price, and Hudson and Everett Boles; brother-in-law, Joseph Muench and family; cousin, Becky Bradshaw and family; and her beloved cat, Gracie and dog, Maggie. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Charles Harbin, MD; and her sister, Cicily Muench. Patricia was born in Gallup, NM to Lucille and Horace Smith. She was raised in the mining town of Dawson, NM. She graduated from New Mexico Normal College (Highlands University) and followed in the family tradition as a teacher, before raising her seven children. After her family was raised, Patricia became an avid traveler, visiting Europe, Ireland and Canada, as well as the U.S. Her unconditional love will be missed by all who knew her. HODES -- Lillian Hodes passed away unexpectedly on December 29, 2009 in Columbia, MD, her home for the past seven years. Lillian was born to David and Bertha Ostroff on January 6, 1918, in Philadelphia. She lived for many years in New York City, and for 26 years in Albuquerque. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Jerome. She is survived by her only daughter Barbara Saville, son-in-law Reggie Saville; grandchildren Jeremy (and Kathleen) Saville, Rosie (and Thom) Verratti and Karen Saville; great-grandchildren Revi, Kobi and Miri Verratti. She is also survived by her sister Gladys Larson of New York City. She was much loved and will be greatly missed. MCCANN -- Violet "Vi" McCann, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, passed away Monday, December 28, 2009. She leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Richard "Dick" McCann; children Cynthia McCann, Richard McCann and wife Jamie, Jeffrey McCann and wife Anne, Deborah McCann, and Kathleen Lowe and husband Daniel; and grandchildren Jason Wolf and wife Sara, David Wolf, Logan O'Holleran, Ryan McCann, Emily Lowe, Makayla McCann, and Alexander Lowe. Mrs. McCann was a longtime member of Central United Methodist Church. Vi was an award winning artist. She was a charter member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society and served twice as president of the New Mexico Chapter of the National League of American Pen Women. Mrs. McCann co-owned the Pinon Tree Gallery in Old Town. A service will be held, Saturday, January 2 at 10:00 am at French - University Chapel. ROST -- Martin Christopher Rost, 55, resident of Albuquerque, passed away on December 19, 2009. He is survived by his mother, Bessie Rost, of Lincoln, NE; two brothers, Arthur Rost, of Lincoln,NE and William Rost and wife Ardyth, of Beaver Crossing, NE, and six nieces and nephews. Martin was born on November 7, 1954 in Lincoln, NE. He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a PHD in electronic engineering. His career took him to St. Paul , MN, Omaha, NE, and then to Sandia National Labs in Albuquerque. Cremation has taken place. She is survived by her children, Max Sandoval, Merlinda Rangel, Checko Pohl and husband, Gilbert, all of Albuquerque, Elda Najarro of San Diego, CA, Lola Madrid and husband, Andy of Sacramento, CA, Sam Sandoval and wife, Pefi of Blue Water, NM, and Jesse Sandoval of Denver, CO; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joaquin Sandoval in 1982; a daughter, Rosarito Sandoval; and grandchildren, Diana Pohl and Kevin Sandoval. Aurelia was born in San Mateo, NM on March 1, 1910. She was one of three siblings. Her family was fortunate to have her for so long. She will be dearly missed. A prayer service will be held Friday, January 1, 2010, at 6:00 p.m., at French-Westside Chapel. Friends may visit one hour prior to prayer service. SEAMON -- Dr. Robert E. Seamon passed away on December 25, 2009 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Christmas Eve. He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on May 18, 1939, the son of H. Burton and Mildred (Bamford) Seamon. Robert was stricken by polio in 1946 and spent two years bedridden. He was home schooled during his illness. When a senior in high school and through undergraduate college he was organist and choir director of Saint John's Episcopal Church in Worcester, MA. He obtained his undergraduate degree in physics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He was accepted to Yale University in their graduate programs both as a physics major and as an organ major. While in Worcester he had studied organ under Dr. Frederick Kinsley, then recently of Riverside Church in Manhattan. At Yale he received his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Nuclear Physics under Professor Gregory Breit. His thesis "New Data and Improvements in Nucleon-Nucleon Phase Parameter Analysis" was published in 1968. After obtaining his doctorate he was employed by Los Alamos National Laboratory and worked there for 25 years except for a two-year assignment in Vienna, Austria with the International Atomic Energy Agency. During his career he published several technical papers and received awards from the Department of Defense for work on nuclear weapons. He retired from the Laboratory in 1994. During his tenure in Los Alamos he was organist at many local churches and served as organ consultant for instruments that were built or expanded there. He also gave many organ recitals on various instruments in New Mexico, the Northeast and abroad. In his later years he was diagnosed with post-polio syndrome, which was then revised to Parkinson's disease. In 2004 he moved from Los Alamos to La Vida Llena here in Albuquerque. His brothers, Thomas B. Seamon of Albuquerque, Kenneth B. Seamon and wife Jacqueline of Annapolis, Maryland; nieces Rosi Crosby and Erika Seamon, survive him. Memorial services will be held at The Cathedral Church of Saint John on January 2, 2010 at 10:15 a.m. The church is located at the corner of Third and Silver. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Friends of Cathedral Music at Saint John's.

TALLANT -- Moss Q. Tallant, 55, died suddenly Saturday, December 26, 2009. He is survived by his wife Joan; father, Ruben Tallant and wife, Adela; brother, Kevin Tallant and wife Joyce; sister, Theresa Rhoda and husband Dan; stepbrother, David Montoya and wife Kathy, Daniel Montoya; stepsister Debbie Montoya; sister-in-law, Lisa Nasiatka and Tom Prando and many other family and friends. TUCKER -- Dewitt C. Tucker, of Albuquerque, passed on Tuesday, December 29, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Maude Tucker; his brothers, Basil and Ray; his sisters, Lois, Katie, Naomi and Annie Dee. Dewitt is survived by his wife, Ruth; his son Jim; and his special friends, Tina, Alerico and Noriana Lucero. He also left behind many other family members and friends and also his fellow parishioners at the University Church of Christ where he had long been a member. Family and friends are invited to a visitation at French ~ University Chapel on Friday, January 1st from 5:00-8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 2nd at 2:00 p.m. at French ~ University Chapel followed by a committal service at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. WEST -- Nona Louise Shively West was born November 16, 1921 to Albert and Florence Thompson in Charleston, MO in Mississippi County and passed away on Friday, December 25, 2009. Nona was the last of a family of six children. She worked as a deputy county clerk and issued her own marriage license to William H. Shively. When WWII ended we moved to Michigan where she served as a clerk in Probate Court of Genessee County for three years. They moved to New Mexico in June of 1948, where they both worked at what is now Kirtland Base. Nona retired in November 1974, she and Hal enjoyed hunting and camping. She was preceded in death by Hal on July 23, 1984. After a very lonely life, Nona met and married Leonard C. West, April 12, 1985, he too has passed away. Nona is a member of San Marcial Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and Albuquerque's First Baptist Church. She is survived by one nephew, Albert (Sonny) Thompson of Clio, MI.
