AVERILL -- Jessie. Born Jesusita Anna Diaz in Albuquerque on April 15, 1922. She was raised by her great-grandmother and her grandfather, Filip Zamora, who was sheriff of Bernalillo County for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Kerr (Bud) Averill. She is survived by her daughter, Analisa Martinez and husband Michael, her daughter Mary Kathleen Erwin and her husband Darryl, her son William Allen Averill and his wife Jennifer, her granddaughter Michal Eder and her husband Jason, her granddaughter Myranda Martinez, her grandson Steven Martinez, her great-granddaughters Avery, Ava, and Bailey Eder, and a very large number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife. She was loved by all who knew her. She leaves behind a great many for whom she was mentor, surrogate mother, counselor, and friend. Jessie passed away just one day past her 87th birthday--a day she celebrated with great joy among her friends and family. CHAMPLIN -- Anna M. Champlin, MD, 58, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009. A resident of Albuquerque since 1989, Anna was born on July 17, 1950 in Margaretville, NY and began her life in the rural town of Downsville, NY, located in the Catskill Mountains. She graduated from Downsville Central School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1968, and from Ithaca College, Ithaca, NY, Magna Cum Laude, 1972, where she was a member of the Women's Governing Board, Pi Theta Phi Professional Physical Therapy Fraternity and the Zeta Sigma Nu and Oracle Honor Societies. After practicing physical therapy, in New York and Colorado, Anna made the decision to pursue a medical degree which she earned from Rutgers Medical School in 1984. After completing a residency in Diagnostic Radiology in the position of Chief Resident at the Hackensack Medical Center, NJ, Anna relocated to Albuquerque in 1989 as, first a Fellow, and then as Chief of Interventional Radiology, and an Associate Professor at UNM Health Sciences Center. Her professional career was interrupted when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Dementia in 2002, after which she went into retirement. Anna lived her life with a passion for the family and friends who loved her, the patients who received her care, the students who learned from her and the colleagues with whom she practiced medicine. As an avid outdoorswoman she hiked trails and overland routes across the country and enjoyed travel throughout the world. Upon her retirement she took up the hobby of cactus gardening-the blossoms of her labor grace her home today. Anna is survived by her husband, Laurel Sillerud; step-sons Colin and Tim Sillerud of Albuquerque; parents Allan and Wilma Champlin, Downsville, NY; brother and sister-in-law Tom and Janet Champlin of Downsville, NY; sister Carol Champlin of Maryland, NY and sister and brother-in-law Kathleen Champlin and Tim Moon of Apache Junction, AZ, Six nieces and nephews and ten grandnieces and nephews. Services will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, with an open house reception following at the Sillerud home from 5-7:00 p.m. The family wishes to express a special thanks to the kind and caring staff members of Visiting Angels, and Haven Care. CHAVEZ -- John O. Chavez, 81, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1991, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2009. John was born June 2, 1927 the son of Jose R. and Juanita Chavez in Albuquerque, New Mexico. John was a school teacher for the Department of Defense before retiring. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pilar Chavez in 1999. John is survived by two children, Erik W. Chavez of Rio Rancho, and James R. Chavez of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Jonathan James and Roxanne Chavez; one brother, Joseph Chavez of Las Cruces, NM; two sisters, Mary Mares and Tillie Will, both of Albuquerque; nieces and nephews, Henry, Alfred, Nellie, Mary Louise, and Emma. The Rosary will be recited for John on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho. COLE -- Dorothy D. Cole, a life-long resident of New Mexico, just shy of 99, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 19, 2009. She was born on Friday, April 29, 1910 in Logan in the territory of New Mexico, where her parents, Robert and Nellie Galloway had homesteaded. After graduating from high school in Logan, she moved to Albuquerque where she resided for the remainder of her life. Dorothy was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the International Topographical Union, Albuquerque Bible Students and Live and Learn Extension Club for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Chauncey G. Cole; sister, Ruth Anthony; five brothers, Byron Galloway, Robert Galloway, Joe Galloway, Richard Galloway, and James Galloway. She is survived by her son, Jerry Cole and wife, Betty Jane; daughters, Helen Keso and husband, Everett, and Roberta Ponto and husband, Bob; nine grandchildren, Lisa Eastburg, Roxanne Hennig, Dan Keso, Len Keso, Rick Cole, Valerie Gensen, Betty Kay Constand, Alan Cole and Donna Chapin; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; and she loved our Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart. COSS -- Donald R. Coss passed away April 15, 2009 after a brief illness. He was born in Wheeling, WV on October 14, 1946. He is survived by his wife, Winnie Fitch; brother Terry Coss of Morro Bay, CA, and sister, Susan Clifford of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Don and his wife owned and operated Don Coss Services, Inc for over 20 years. Winnie will continue to manage and run the business. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Lung Association or the Animal Humane Association. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Don's life will be held in May.

CRAWFORD -- Margaret Crawford, age 93, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on March 24, 2009, in Redlands, California. She is survived by her daughters Anne L. DISCH -- Albert P. Disch, 76, born on May 9, 1932 in Beaumont Texas was released from his bonds of this world on April 17, 2009, meeting his savior, Jesus Christ. Albert, the son of Cordelia Giesendorff and William Disch, is survived by his wife of 52 years, Amelia; daughter Cindy and husband Kevin Barr; son Eric and wife Cathy; son Ron and wife Luisa; and son Albert Jr. and wife Valerie; 11 grandchildren: April and husband Nathan Sweet, Amelia and husband Eric Nazworth with great-grandson Ricky, Brandon with great-grandson Dillon, Melissa, Jayson, Travis, Ryan, Russell, Kylie, Kaitlyn and Jordyn, many nieces and nephews and brother Otto and wife Christine, son Paul, daughter Brenda from Garland, Texas all who love and will deeply miss him and his sense of humor. He served in the Korean War, moved to Albuquerque where he was a resident for more than 50 years and retired from Sandia National Laboratories in 1994 after 35 years of service. He was a member of Church of the Risen Savior Catholic Church. Albert enjoyed his retirement, spending much time with his family, traveling, enjoying life and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. HUTCHINSON -- Ronald "Hutch" Hutchinson, 74, resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Tuesday, April 21, 2009. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Janet Hutchinson; three sons, Richard Hutchinson and wife Tera, Robert Hutchinson, and Roger Hutchinson; one daughter, Pamela Rice and husband Christopher; four grandsons and three granddaughters. LARSON -- James Oliver "Larry" Larson, 94, of Albuquerque, passed away April 19, 2009 after a short illness. He was born in Los Angeles, CA to James and Mildred Larson. He had two sisters Kathryn and Rose. Larry served four years in the US Navy; briefly left to be a police officer, before returning to a career in the Navy. He was proud of his "mustang" career status, moving from an enlisted man to an officer and of his time on a "Four Stack" destroyer during WWII. Upon retirement from the Navy in 1956, he and his wife, Lois, relocated to Albuquerque where he managed a heavy hauling and steel erecting company, winning the National Heavy Haul of the Year award in 1964. He continued in the transportation industry until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lois; three children, Jim of Albuquerque, Mark of Denver, and Deborah of Taos; nephew, Alan Kelly Jr.; grandchildren, Joshua, Jessie, Diana, and Kris, plus two great-grandchildren. A Memorial will be held Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church, 1801 Montano Rd. NW. Interment will be at a later date at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Memorial contributions may be made to Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church or to a charity of choice.

LEEPER -- Toney Angela Leeper, age 76, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 18, 2009. She was born on June 13, 1932 to Juan and Angela Baca in Carrizozo, NM. She was picking cotton when she was only 10 years old. Toney only went to the 9th grade before she dropped out to go to work to help her parents and got a job working at the hospital as a nurse in Carrizozo. She met our dad during the time he was stationed in Red Canyon. Mom and Dad were married on April 24, 1954 and had their first daughter in Carizozo and then moved to Iowa where dad was from. Three more daughters were born. Mom and dad then moved to Nebraska, where their first son was born, then moved to Albuquerque in 1962, where the remaining three children were born. Toney gave birth to eight children and worked very hard to care for us. She always made breakfast for us before going to school. Mom made homemade snacks for us for when we got home from school. Sometimes when we got to the corner we could smell the bread baking. Mom made the best homemade bread. She was always there for us. Toney spent her days doing laundry, washing diapers, cooking and waiting for us and dad to get home. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her children unconditionally, no matter what; they were all the same to her. Toney loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren just the same. We love you mom and you will be missed dearly. Our mother loved us with her whole heart and soul and we were very lucky to be raised by her. She showed love, patience, kindness and an incredible giving nature to everyone she knew. MOLINAR -- Victor M. Molinar, 55, passed away Friday, April 17, 2009. Victor was born the son of A.J. and Anita Molinar in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He graduated from Carlsbad Senior High in 1971. After graduation he joined the Navy where he served on the USS William S. Wood where he was a Communications Specialist. Victor, along with his dad, opened the Wiz Ski Inn in Rio Rancho in 1983. Victor spent the last several years of his life as a truck driver. He loved the open road and traveling. He enjoyed telling his stories of the road to family and friends. Victor was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing pool, and loved poker. He loved spending time with his nephews and taking them to the movies. He was a successful poker player who was training to fulfill his dream to one day compete in the World Series of Poker Tournament. He often said, "I have the skill to compete in poker, I just don't have the luck." He spent the last year of his life where he was happiest and loved, at home with his mom Anita. He would brag about her tacos and how, "you can't find great tacos like his mom's on the road." Victor was preceded in death by his father, A.J. RODEMAN -- Ronald Rodeman, age 68, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2009 after a joyful, inquisitive, and courageous journey through this life. Ron was born in Shreveport, LA on June 21, 1940. He was preceded in death by his parents Lucy Mae Small and Floyd Rodeman as well as his son, Matthew Rodeman. He is survived by his wife, Anita Vaughn; his daughters, Dana Fotieo and husband, Greg, Cori Sullivan and husband, Patrick; sister, Donna Nesbitt. Ron leaves behind five grandchildren; Kirsten and Ryan Fotieo; Jack, Ben, and Emma Sullivan; and many dear friends as well as his canine companion, Maggie. Ron attended Colorado State University on a full football scholarship. He graduated from CSU with a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. He was employed at Sandia National Laboratories for 32 years. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful medical providers and staff of the UNM Cancer Center and 5E at UNMH for the dedicated and loving care provided to Ron over the past six years. ROMERO -- John Romero, age 74, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, was called to Eternal Life by the Lord, Sunday, April 19, 2009. He was born on January 8, 1935 in Marquez, NM, and was a resident of Algodones, NM. John retired from the Santa Fe Trail Fright Lines as a Truck Driver after 26 years of services. He enjoyed his Ranch in Mt. Taylor, NM where he expressed the natural cowboy in himself, and which would always spark him to telling stories of the "Good Old Days" and how ranching used to be with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey; his parents, Macario and Dorella; and a brother Celidonio. John is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Eufelia (Fela) Romero; his children, Macario, and Yolanda; his precious grandchildren, Nathaniel, Brittany, Brianna, Christopher, and Jennie; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Christinana and Isaiah. Also surviving are his sisters, Tillie, Darleen, Marie, and Eva; and other numerous relatives and friends. John will be greatly missed by all. A Rosary will be recited Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 a.m. also at the Church. SAAVEDRA -- Puseno J. Saavedra, 89, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on April 20, 2009. Mr. Saavedra is survived by his daughters, Carol Leal and Hazel Sanchez; five grandchildren, Yvette Leal-Baca and husband, Earl, Ruben Leal, Chris Sanchez and wife, Nettie, Frank Sanchez, and Patricia (Patty) Sanchez; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Emma Sangre; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Saavedra was preceded in death by his wife, Esther; his brothers, Ramon, Ernesto, Nestor, Alejandro and Joe; and his sisters, Toni, Conrada, and Juana. Mr. Saavedra was a member of the Catholic Church, and a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. SANCHEZ -- Tomasita Sanchez, 96, passed away April 19, 2009. She was born May 21, 1912 in Jarales, NM to Ramon and Eusebia Sanchez. She is survived by her four children, Sylvia Griego (Cole), Theresa Halpern, Patricia Dalla, Raymond Sanchez (Teresa); 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Bennie Sanchez and Bernard Sanchez; one sister, Helen Apodaca; and many other family members. Tomasita is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Martin Sanchez; two sons, Richard and John Sanchez; three sisters, Della Maes, Carmen Baldonado, Mary Lou Anaya; five brothers, Ramon, Paul, Ernest, Manuel and Sam Sanchez. She was a lifetime resident of New Mexico and a member of Our Lady of Belen, Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church, and of the Catholic Daughters. TORREZ -- Luis M. Torrez, age 81, beloved father, grandfather and brother, was called to Eternal Life by the Lord, Saturday, April 18, 2009, while surrounded by his loving family. URIAS -- Antonia Urias, age 81, a resident of Los Lunas, NM, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2009. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, in Peralta, NM. Antonia devoted her life to her family. She always brought a smile to the face of anyone she met. She loved spending time with her best friend, Babe. Mom's wonderful sense of humor and playfulness will be missed by all who loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, David Urias; two sons, Juan and Ruben Urias; her parents, Eliseo and Carolina Lucero Moya; sister, Eloisa Gurule; and two brothers, Foy and Quirino Moya.
