MOLINAR -- Victor M. Molinar, 55, passed away Friday, April 17, 2009. Victor was born the son of A.J. and Anita Molinar in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He graduated from Carlsbad Senior High in 1971. After graduation he joined the Navy where he served on the USS William S. Wood where he was a Communications Specialist. Victor, along with his dad, opened the Wiz Ski Inn in Rio Rancho in 1983. Victor spent the last several years of his life as a truck driver. He loved the open road and traveling. He enjoyed telling his stories of the road to family and friends. Victor was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing pool, and loved poker. He loved spending time with his nephews and taking them to the movies. He was a successful poker player who was training to fulfill his dream to one day compete in the World Series of Poker Tournament. He often said, "I have the skill to compete in poker, I just don't have the luck." He spent the last year of his life where he was happiest and loved, at home with his mom Anita. He would brag about her tacos and how, "you can't find great tacos like his mom's on the road." Victor was preceded in death by his father, A.J. Molinar; brother Juan Luis Molinar, wife Socorro; brother Daniel Molinar; sister Catherine Knapp, husband Steve; and niece Carly Knapp. He is survived by his mom, Anita Molinar; sister Melissa Quesada and husband Jose of Rio Rancho, NM; brother, David Molinar and wife Melissa of Las Vegas, NV, brother Ponty of Rio Rancho, NM; two nieces, Patricia (Charlie) Gilbert and husband John of Houston, TX, and Kimberly Quesada of Rio Rancho, NM; five nephews, Michael Molinar of Houston, TX, Atilano (Jay) Molinar and wife Jennifer of Marion, OH, David Molinar of Phoenix, AZ, Joseph Quesada of Albuquerque, NM, and Juan Knapp and wife Dana of Eagle Point, OR; five great-nieces; three great-nephews; and lots of friends. Victor was loved by all and will be greatly missed. The Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, April 22, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church followed by interment in Vista Verde Memorial Park.
